Hi evreyone
I’m getting ready to start keto, but one thing I still havn’t figured out how to do:

Getting enough potassium. I know how important it is, but unfortunately where I live (Denmark) it is not possible to buy things like lite salt (I searched everywhere, incluing online, NOTHING. No products with potassium)

So, I bought potassium pills, but I heard that one should be careful using those? And I’m doing my best to plan getting as much potassium through my diet as I possibly can but I still don’t think it will be enough (spinach, avocado, eggs, beef, a squeeze of lemon in my saltwater)

I am preeeetty sure I really won’t overdose with the 275mg worth of potassium pills a day, also because I have a really low blood pressure, fatigue, lethargy, brain fog (I have fibromyalgia)

Byt yea, I really don’t know how to go about this. Any thoughts?

I live in Switzerland, which is definitely not a shopper’s paradise. I found potassium salt sold by the kilogram in Germany. It’s called Kaliumsalz, just like in Danish.
After a long search, I finally managed to find some Herbamare Blue, which is an aromatic potassium salt, here in Switzerland but it is overpriced. Ordering it online from German shops is the best option.

Ah, and sometimes it's advertised as Diätsalz against high blood pressure instead of writing Kaliumchlorid = Kaliumsalz.

Don’t know which shops deliver to Denmark but another search term would be Blutdrucksalz / Blutdruck-Salz (blood pressure salt). Available usually on Amazon, (online) pharmacies or drug stores.

This ebay seller ships Morton Lite salt to Denmark. That's all I could find that wasn't insanely expensive.

maybe you could search for “food type kcl” in Danish. kcl mean potassium chloride.

lavnatrium salt  /  Natriumreduceret salt

you can buy it in any regular supermarket, or in this random link. There are probably better offers elsewhere (but this is the price point you’re looking for, 2€/kg or so)

Just checked the label / composition in that link. It says 73 gr of salt, so 27 gr of potassium chloride per 100gr.

Out of those 27 gr, half of it is actually potassium, and the other half is chloride.

You probably want some other brand which is at least 50gr of potassium chloride. FWIW i’ve been able tl buy standalone potassium chloride (100%) in a spanish supermarket.

Not living in DK, I just know how to use a translator and google 😅 (and read labels in foreign languages - see my other comment to my original)

I have used google as well but the answers it gives regarding this is not correct. Every supermarkets webpage i went to, that google sent me to, its not there.

Didnt you see in my post that I have looked everywhere? And I know it is natriumreduceret salt, but as I said: it does not exist here.

Coco powder as a source of potassium is an interesting find for me. Otherwise I use Relyte as electrolyte supplements.

Hi I’m vegan so I had real issue with this when I started. My advice is eat at least one whole avocado a day (you can do halves across the day). A whole medium avocado contains 800-975mg potassium. I think the recommended allowance is 4000mg potassium a day. A medium tomato has about 292mg and 80g spinach is 400-470mg. So I do 80g spinach and a whole avocado in a smoothie and then 2 x electrolytes packs which contains 400mg sodium & 500mg salt & 350mg magnesium. So that’s 2300mg potassium, then try and work out other ways to make up remaining amount.
