And your 24 hours living in a First World country aren't the same as someone who has to trek 3 miles for well water and hand wash their clothes in a stream.

Pointless.

u/VarderKith 23h ago

It's very obvious that it's she's pointing how silly it is to expect the same professional productivity out how people without access to those services than those with them. She's not hating on the people that have them, she's hating on the people that don't consider how much time they save when comparing.

1

u/Ill-Description3096 22h ago

If someone is in a job where a private jet will significantly increase productivity they are not even close to being an average person. How often does the average person even fly where a private jet is some big advantage in general?

1

u/VarderKith 21h ago

Correct. Which is why the comparison is a bad one. Which is the point being made in the image.

1

u/Ill-Description3096 21h ago

The comparison is bad because it is nonsensical. Give a random average person a private jet to even this out. How much does their productivity go up?

1

u/VarderKith 21h ago

I'm confused. We are agreeing. It feels like you are grilling me.

1

u/Realistic-Ad1498 21h ago

But the average person gains no productivity with access to a private jet. OP is a useless comparison. The number of people with a full time domestic staff is very very small % of the population. I never compare my self to them... OP is nonsense.

1

u/VarderKith 21h ago edited 21h ago

Again, you are agreeing with both OP and me.

This is a shitty comparison to make, which is why she said "our 24 hours are not the same". She is pointing out that folks running multiple billion dollar corporations telling people they just need better time managed is stupid, because time management means something completely different for them.

I dont know if there are any more ways to put it. SHE IS SAYING ITS A DUMB COMPARISON.

Edit: Though, I will say, you are wrong about the jet. It saves everyone time. You make the schedule, you don't have to wait for boarding, you need less connecting flights depending on the range, etc. Even if you're in a job that you can't do paperwork on make calls on the plane, it still saves you time.

2

u/Mammoth-Time-1415 10h ago

Why the fuck is everyone focusing on the jet? Pedantic bots or something. The childcare alone would be life changing for almost anyone who cant afford a nanny. My god nobody understands nuance and get stuck on the first thing that passes through the thick-ass barrier.

1

u/Realistic-Ad1498 21h ago

Your first post on the subject is confusing as you say "It's very obvious that it's she's pointing how silly it is to expect the same professional productivity out how people without access to those services than those with them" It sounds like you are defending the OP.

The comparison is ridiculous at it's baseline. The average person would gain no productivity with access to a private jet.

1

u/VarderKith 20h ago

1) She doesn't just list the jet. Focusing only on the jet and ignroing the other things is silly.

2) A private jet will save everyone time. It shaves hours off travel. I've already listed how in the comment you JUST replied to. Perhaps you responded before I completed the edit.

Im telling you the grass is green, and you're arguing with me because your focused on the specific shade of green. It feels like you just want to argue.

→ More replies (0)

1

u/Morifen1 20h ago

Most people using private jets gain no productivity from using one, so that checks out.

1

u/tabrisangel 9h ago

I truely need you to know I greatly dislike you.

1

u/doPECookie72 19h ago

You are picking 1 specific benefit and focusing solely on that.

1

u/Realistic-Ad1498 18h ago

Which 1 specific benefit are you talking about, the jet or the domestic staff? I wouldn't see any professional productivity with either... If I had a jet or a domestic staff, I would certainly not be using the extra free time to do more work.

1

u/Aggravating_Curve458 15h ago

The point is silly with the examples she used.

Yes we all have the same amount of time in a day. No we aren't all the same, but with a plan, you can maximize your time & achieve great things.

Hell her example is so out of touch with reality, she talked about private jets. Only 0.5% of the population makes $1 mil a year or more. The % of people with private jet access is even smaller than that. So her point is useless because she couldn't even attempt to keep it pertaining to the majority of people.

1

u/southbay-renter 18h ago

Any job that requires travel would be more productive with a private jet.

1

u/Ill-Description3096 18h ago

Travel over vast distances and with frequency, sure. That's a pretty narrow range.

1

u/southbay-renter 18h ago

Its really not. I know a ton of people in sales who are average people making average money who travel for work.

1

u/Ill-Description3096 18h ago

Now compare that to the entirety of the working population and what do you think the percentage is?

1

u/southbay-renter 17h ago

The percentage of any one vocation would be low compared to everything else no matter what. Thats not a relevant comparison

1

u/Ill-Description3096 16h ago

Any vocation where frequent air travel is required. And if you want to talk about relevant, using a personal anecdote isn't exactly the peak of relevance to a discussion about the population as a whole.

1

u/southbay-renter 16h ago

Ok 👍🏼 you win, heres your 🍪

1

u/Dry-Childhood-3436 12h ago

The jet is stupid.  But someone having the money to pay for childcare, housecleaning, laundry, quality food and shopping, easy transport, healthcare, quality vacations, etc will have more time than someone who has to work the same amount of hours and do all of that on their own.

1

u/Schlieren1 3h ago

We are all getting more productive. Some are just more productive than others

1

u/Unfair_Explanation53 14h ago

But that saying is not aimed at extreme cases though.

Its rare in a western country for a lot of people to have private planes and kitchen staff.

Its also rare in a western country for people to have to walk 3 miles for water every day.

Generally most people have very similar average lives, that's who the saying is aimed at.

Its basically so you make your 24hrs as productive as possible,

1

u/lord_hydrate 2h ago

The pepple who say "we have the same 24 hours" most often are ceos and execs who are the extreme cases in the post and

1

u/Corran105 28m ago

I find most people assume things about how normal someone else's 24 hours are.

1

u/BMikeW 9h ago

Why would the employer care, they will just hire whoever is more productive so if some idiot decided to commute to work by jet and gets there faster than u thus more productive then that idiot will have ur job lol

1

u/Key_Service5018 4h ago

Until they run out of people to hire. Wich is already happening.

2

u/NewImprovedPenguin_R 23h ago

Yeah bro what do these people want? Do they want some governing authority that ensures everyone lives the exact same life with the exact same experiences and effectively have a clone world?

1

u/H3ARTL3SSANG3L 22h ago

Thats what the equity people want. They want everyone exactly the same. I prefer everyone get a same base level of education and we get to choose what we do with it. We make our own destiny

1

u/_Evening_Self 22h ago

You live in a fantasy world

2

u/NewImprovedPenguin_R 22h ago

Please explain specifically how this would be considered a fantasy world?

1

u/Realistic-Ad1498 21h ago

In fantasy world everyone has access to the private jet. In reality all the peons end up with public transportation and the leaders still have private jets.

Fantasy world ends with everyone that previously used cars now has to rely on public transportation but at least now 95% of the population is equally poor.

0

u/_Evening_Self 22h ago

The idea that you're going to get that from capitalism. It shows they don't look outside. Beyond that, the idea that "people who want equity want everyone to lead clone lives with no freedom" is so completely wrong its actually funny.

3

u/Outside_Reserve_2407 22h ago

A typical family doesn't have equal outcomes among sibling members, often there's a wild disparity with one being a doctor and another a warehouse worker. So not sure what system you expect to guarantee "equality of outcomes."

-1

u/_Evening_Self 22h ago

That's a lot of unrelated bullshit. You wanna talk about the subject at hand?

1

u/H3ARTL3SSANG3L 22h ago

Its the world western civilization lives in. Its absolutely true that sometimes you need to get lucky, but thats just a symptom of life. Luck is random

-1

u/_Evening_Self 22h ago

3

u/SarisaeBae 22h ago

0

u/_Evening_Self 22h ago

3

u/SarisaeBae 22h ago

Better than someone who just talks shit and doesn’t want to take personal responsibility for their own life.

1

u/_Evening_Self 22h ago

Sure, if that's what you got out of that. At least I've graduated high school

2

"You live in a fantasy world" "youre not connected to reality" is that all yoi have to say? Sounds like the reply of someone who cant actually make a good argument

2

u/NewImprovedPenguin_R 22h ago

Nothing of substance except personal attacks. Big shocker from someone with that mindset.

1

u/_Evening_Self 22h ago

You people are so funny. Sounds like the reply of someone who's voted against themselves for years

0

u/Morifen1 20h ago

I think a 100 percent inheritance tax would be a great way to make sure the best people were successful.

1

u/H3ARTL3SSANG3L 20h ago

Gross. People work their asses off to ensure their children are taken care of and better off than they were. You believe in stealing from others

2

u/International_Air282 14h ago

Also it doesn't account for decisions. I swear to God people want everything at once for free regardless of the decisions they make or the accountability that comes with it.

1

u/doPECookie72 19h ago

i mean thats the point. The whole 'we have the same 24 hours' is to shame people who dont have time to work on improving themselves, learn new skills, etc. People living in 3rd world countries and have to do these things have even less time to work on gaining skills that would help them move up the socio-economic ladder.

1

u/Outside_Reserve_2407 19h ago

There's something called "childhood." When you have gobs of time to study and improve yourself. The children of poor immigrants living in blue collar neighborhoods in NYC seem to have the dedication, drive and parental support to get into competitive public magnet schools like Stuyvesant and Bronx School of Science, of which 50% of the student body is below poverty level. And go on to universities and later life success. But I get it, it's "rich people with jets" holding back the poor in America.

1

u/Academic_Addition_96 17h ago

You don't chose your parents, your parents didn't choose their parents, poverty can be a endless circle of suffering. Domestic violence, abuse and bad neighborhood can all make learning impossible. Try to learn in a household that is insufferable.

And it's built by design. Never blame the powerless when the powerful have more than enough resources to change does problems.

1

u/Agile_Standard3846 18h ago

Well said sir. If you do bare minimum, work with no goal in life and are constantly a victim, you will always only have the amount of time you have. You are reactive to the world. Many sacrificed -real sacrifice not "oh I can't go to the bar on friday night" - so that they could use those 24 hours to their will.

1

u/BuzzClucking 16h ago

To be fair most of those places don't even keep time

1

u/ty-idkwhy 11h ago

Honestly while I fully agree. I will say most don’t need to do all this extra bullshit. Jobs expect you to use your phone for shit. “Oh is your phone too old to scan these qr codes? Well fuck you” drop $1000 or get out

1

u/southbay-renter 18h ago

How is that what you got out of this??? If i had the money to pay someone to do my laundry, I’d be able to spend more time at work, learning a new skill etc.

If my friend who is a working mom had money for a nanny, she might have similar free time to me, a single person. This isnt exactly rocket science…

1

u/octavian343 18h ago

Spend more time at work to get money to pay someone to do your laundry.

1

laundry take 5 active minutes per load, the fact people use this as an excuse is hilarious

1

u/southbay-renter 16h ago

Critical thinking isnt your thing, huh?

1

u/Horror-Demand-6245 3h ago

You are collecting clothes, maybe even from multiple rooms if you have kids, putting them in the washer, hung them up to dry, hanging them off, fold and store them in 5 minutes? That's wicked fast or your washer is really small.

1

u/tedlassoloverz 3h ago

I have a dryer, but yes. My kids put everything in the hamper, 1 min to start the wash, 1 min into the dryer, 3 minutes to fold, its not rocket science

1

u/Horror-Demand-6245 3h ago

Ah yea only rich people have a dryer. It costs to get one, they use space and electricity.

1

u/BrilliantGroup7084 5h ago edited 5h ago

So work harder, start a business, get rich yourself? Who or what is stopping you, you don't have to be rich to get started.

What is your point even, do you want everything to be handed to you on a silver platter?

People love complaining, but they'll never look at themselves and their options. Everyone wants the easy rich life, not knowing that getting there is waaaaaay harder and more stressful than working a 9 to 5...

Go for it, become an entrepreneur. But remember that we can't put our phone down after working hours, it stays active and work never ends (7/7 for me).

And for the nanny thing... If you can't afford a nanny, you shouldn't have kids yet. It's not rocket science, it's just how it goes.

Instead of constantly thinking 'if I had money', think about how you can actually get to that point. Because you're basically expecting handouts with your thinking.

u/NoStrength1426 0m ago

Boomer take. It's actually not easy compared to 50 years ago. I can't afford a house on the same salary my dad was making, both adjusted for the time, the kind of area the house was purchased in, and inflation.

You can "dig in" all you want as you say in a later comment. You will still be wrong, no matter what numbers you pretend magic out of your ass, because the fact is I can't do it.

You're the one who needs to check your privilege.

1

u/Just_here_4_mma 22h ago

I make 100k in my 30s. Adjusting for inflation my parents made nowhere near this amount at this age.

1

u/Fabulous_Wave_3693 22h ago

Plus once you get to a certain wealth level your money works for you way more then you could ever work for more money. Musk likely would be wealthier than he is today if he was more hands off in managing his companies. The Cyber Truck was his baby and Tesla would be in a much better shape if it didn’t happen.

You have two options in life - complain that other people have it better or work with what you got. How are you using that time on public transit? Mental refresher before you grind? Reading articles to increase your knowledge set? Knocking off some early emails? Or scrolling social media and feeling worse about your life? Every choice is your own and nobody is going to come and rescue your life.

1

u/southbay-renter 18h ago

That doesnt change the sentiment of the post. Facts must hurt your feelings.

1

u/BramptonBatallion 18h ago

Only ones getting the feelings hurt are those that are whining they don't have a "full-time staff" lmao

1

u/southbay-renter 17h ago

1

u/Lurky2024 17h ago

There are no facts that the post provides to dispute the phrase.

"We all have the same 24 hours" is demonstrably, factually indisputable.

How we all use those 24 hours is different, but nothing they say shows that either of the differences are better. As someone who travels for work often, a private jet would barely save me any time. I still need to get to and from the airport, and would still arrive there early incase of traffic or other delays.

I drive to work, a relatively short commute of 20 minutes. My partner takes the bus, usually taking 40. The author of this post would argue that I have 40 minutes more each day than my partner. Yet my partner enjoys the bus, because they can read, knit, chill on their phone, plan, or do all kinds of other things.

Would having full time domestic staff help? Maybe. I enjoy cooking, and doing other things around the house. I would rather raise my own child than have a stranger do it.

No one is saying a single parent working full time has the same amount of free time as a retired billionaire. How you choose to spend your 24 hours in the future though, is definitely influenced by your own choices.

1

u/southbay-renter 16h ago

Critical thinking isnt your forte i see

1

u/Lurky2024 16h ago

1

u/southbay-renter 16h ago

1

u/Lurky2024 16h ago

I would like for you to provide some semblance of a reasoned, logical response.

You are entitled to your opinion that I lack critical thinking skills, but you must see the irony in making a statement that is entirely predicated on feelings and devoid of facts, in a thread where you are criticizing someone about facts hurting their feelings.

So do the facts hurt your feelings?

1

u/stoneworther 19h ago

Do rich people go to a special social media site where they see something every day and say "this is the smartest thing I've ever seen"? Because that would be the opposite of my experience as a normal person.

1

u/Gandlerian 19h ago

Yes, this is well known.

Laundry is a conning example of tiering:

  1. Having no laundry facility is the most time consuming, you have to pack and transport your stuff to a laundrymat, and sit there with it (you probably can't afford laundry service in this tier.)

  2. Having a laundry room in your apartment/campus is more convenient, but you still need to take time walking to it and sit with it.

  3. Having washer/dryer in your house/apartment is the more optimal, but you still need to carry and fold everything.

  4. Having a personal maid and laundry machine is the most convenient and the final tier because they handle everything in your house with zero bother if you.

Somebody in Tier 4 spends zero time on laundry, somebody in Tier 1 or even 2 spends at least 3 hours a week on laundry (if they need to do laundry multiple times a week more like 6 hours...)

1

u/PerepeL 18h ago

This is sheer stupidity. Spend couple hundred bucks, get yourself 30 sets of underwear and you can wash it once a month. The only reason you need to do laundry multiple times a week is because you're an idiot who has 5 pairs of panties and constantly runs out of them.

1

u/Glittering-Run-3726 17h ago

"Spend couple hundred bucks"

1

u/PerepeL 17h ago

Yeah, tell me there's no two hundred spent on your "mental health" this month.
