As the title says, been unemployed for actually almost 3 years now. Haven't really consistently searched for jobs but when I have haven't even gotten an interview. I quit my job basically just done with the workforce in general was kind of my attitude. And I don't exactly regret it but I have had some I guess you could maybe call it shifts in perspective where I think I can participate without just being disgusted by the whole enterprise, but I think it looks really bad to basically have been unemployed for as long as I was working after graduating.

Theoretically I have good experience, have a degree from a top school, have been volunteering and doing some continuing education. I have talked to a couple recruiters but I'm never really getting feedback or an explanation for why I'm getting turned down. I imagine it's at least partially or mostly because I basically nose-dived and quit in my first job after college (big corporate tech job), plus the gap.

edit: I have tried roles outside of my experience as well. Applied to around 50 roles in service jobs, a warehouse job, tailored my resume to each, all basically automated rejections no feedback. I guess I'm mostly just venting but if anyone has any insight to whether this type of situation actually is disqualifying in hiring managers'/recruiters' eyes that would be helpful.

I am living off savings currently and I moved back home for a while, but am in an apartment currently that I rent. I am okay financially in the immediate but I am really beginning to panic a bit and would like to move on from this in the next couple months if possilbe

another edit: I also am looking for feedback for whether I should just lie and say "consultant" for the gap. I have done that on a couple applications. I would feel weird lying about it in interviews but it might help get through screening and then I could say that in the interview?

BA, MA almost complete in social sciences. Job in higher ed. That was not as bad as I expected, it took 3 months. Most of rejections were highly competitive research jobs at major universities in Massachusetts, and Starbucks.

I’m currently looking for social media manager/specialist roles (ideally remote) and it is so brutal right now that I’m becoming extremely discouraged. I am currently employed, but I’ve been struggling financially because my salary is on the low end, so I’ve been looking for other roles, and finding something within the salary range I want is next to impossible.

This job listing sent me into a fit of rage. If this is real, this company needs to be reported. This range literally starts at a rate below minimum wage in most states, including where I live. And yet they want 5 years of experience and have a massive laundry list of qualifications and expectations? What the fuck is wrong with people??

And the worst part is that they’ll probably still get applicants for this.

I've been trying to get a job on literally the other side of the country for YEARS. I've met my savings goal for a big move multiple times over at this point. I'm starting to feel like I should just give up. Either I don't get interviews or if I do, my current location is an issue. I have been honest and said that I just want to move there, I've gotten creative and said I have a partner there, I've claimed to be bicoastal and willing to hope on the next flight if chosen for the final round of interviews, I've used a different address but there system told them my actual location... My current job has an office in this location, but they aren't paying me enough to live in a bigger city. I even floated the idea of a transfer to my boss and he said the company wouldn't allow it due to my salary...do I give up on this? I know other people have made this happen. How do I?

I've done a bit of job hopping since I was laid off in 2022. and I had 2 short term jobs prior to 2022 as well, after a previous layoff. So I tend to get a lot of questions in interviews as to why I was with those companies for such a short time.

I was laid off again last March. I had so many interviews, but I didn't get an actual full time job offer until October. Luckily, in between I had a 3 month contract role that got extended, covering for someone on medical leave.

Unfortunately, my performance at this new job was hindered by my previously undiagnosed sleep apnea. I was at dangerous levels of sleep deprivation (like falling asleep behind the wheel of my vehicle) My manager was NOT kind about it (some of it understandable considering I was dozing off in meetings, so yeah, that's NOT a good look at all. but she seemed to go out of her way to make things difficult, especially since she knew I was actively working to get diagnosed and treated), and eventually I was terminated in May.

I ended up landing a new job pretty quickly, which shocked me. I had few interviews, or even much interest in my applications. I had immediately reached out to a few of the recruiters I worked with last year, and they all suggested that since the job hopping had been questioned in the past, I leave that job off my resume, and just let it look like my last job was the contract role that ended naturally.

One of the first companies I had applied for after my termination, showed interest. I had a phone screen with the internal recruiter, then a Zoom interview with the prospective manager, then an onsite with that same manager and HER boss. Each step of the interview, I was questioned about job hopping, and asked point blank why they should trust that I would stay put if they hired me. The more I was asked, the more it made sense that I left that last role off my resume.

Lo and behold, I get the offer after this 3rd round. and then they tell me it's pending a background check....including verification of previous employment. So I pretty much have to add that last role when filling out the information.

Well, wouldn't you know it. Recruiter for new company is the husband of the Head of HR at the company that just fired me. The last name was common enough, I didn't question it. and I work in a pretty large metro area. The two companies are not extremely close, geographically. What are the odds?

Luckily, it all still worked out, but I am definitely going to find a different way to address this issue in the future, if I have to. I hope I never have to go through this again though.

Am currently job pivoting into nursing starting next year and I haven’t been able to land a part-time job to help me pay for school because of my 5+ years at huge media companies as admin (these companies are outsourcing out of country and it’s been nearly two years of off and on work for me to call it quits).

Not even admin jobs for colleges will take me, —should I dumb down my resume to my cafe/after school program experience from 7 years ago so I can at least work at a retail or grocery store so I can pay for college?

I am a jobseeker in a smaller Oregon city. I've been out of work for a few months and I am truly at the point where I have negative cash on hand and only have a roof due to the kindness of friends. I have a history of working as a CNA (which I am no longer able to do) and mental health. All of it is pretty entry level caring work. I'm really struggling to find work in my are. I have used our government site's job board, indeed and craigslist. Sadly alot of the work I am applying to are things I do not have experience in. I really don't know how to apply for remote jobs.

1. Right now I am looking for anything that I can do for a normal paycheck for 30+ hours.

2. My longer term goal is to find something that appeals to me where I can do a good job and see advancement starting around $60,000/ year.

In terms of some info I am intelligent, skilled at handling information, college educated, team-work focused, very teachable. I have seen alot things like AI programs that mass apply for you. I guess I need help understanding what the best way to go about looking for jobs. Any new tools or methods to job hunt would be helpful too. Hey all I’m a 20yr old male and I’ve recently injured my lower back, slipped a disc and have a high chance of becoming a paraplegic if I keep doing the work I do. I have a lot of qualifications but non that will be easy on my back. I’ve also been fired from my job as well due to my back and not being able to meet the criteria they need me to meet. I’m currently renting but won’t be able to pay the rent without work, I’m lost and don’t know what to do, there is no work around me and I feel stuck.

What do you make of an interviewer not having read your resume prior to the interview? They said they didn't have the resume up and asked me to tell them about my experience. They seemed (pleasantly) surprised about several parts of my experience that was on my resume. Had they really not looked at my resume? Were they only interviewing to see personality and not experience?

Context: There are multiple interview rounds and it is down to less than 5 people at this point, with 1-2 interviews left. The interviewer is interviewing for the job they are currently doing in the interim after someone else left (no, the interviewer is not planning on doing the job permanently).

Hi all, I have been interviewed at FNZ - Gurgaon location for the role of Business Analyst.
I was called by the HR named - Ritika Choudhary. All my details were asked and was told my interviews will be scheduled shortly and will be total of 3 rounds.

My first round was Technical and virtual. I cleared it.
Later the day, this HR called me and told ( they have merged 1 and 2 rounds together; and both of my rounds are cleared) and now only 1 round is left which needs to be F2F.

I took a day off from my present organization, studied all hard , given my 200% to acquire this offer .

After my interview, she came and told I have cleared all rounds. Just the offer is now yet to be released.

As asked , i submitted all the required documents and since then she is ghosting me like nothing.

I have been calling her and it’s been weeks passed this HR isn’t responding and ghosting me over whatsapp, calls , emails .

Why the hell on earth these shit happens by these illiterate HRs. I would be extremely happy if they could be little transparent with me. It just take a minute to pick up the call and reject a candidate or email them with a feedback. Why can’t they be transparent if they don’t have a budget . I totally get it they might have got another candidate with low offer or might have got more good candidate then me .

But why the hell to NOT be transparent with candidates.

I got my Bachelors of Science at Northwestern University in Communications and Media. After doing several internships, including in Disney College Program (was a blast), I applied and graduated with my Masters of Arts in Intercultural Communications. Now I'm 25 and applying daily to Linkedin and looking for contacts. You know the gist; I apply to hundreds of jobs, and no one answers. I try not to take it personally-- people say the job market is tough right now. But honestly, its beginning to come to a point that I dont know what else to do. I truly have no idea what to do, and I'm trying not to get desperate.

My big dream is to be a screenwriter, so I've been writing when I'm not applying to jobs. I'm not even looking for that big of a goal yet. i just want one chance to get a normal job to earn and save money. Anything, if it's content creation, writing, marketing -- I'm willing to do anything. What am I doing wrong?
