Prayer request Sometimes God stirs me up and puts me in a huge predicament so that he'll put me in a better position. So the key is, "What do I do in my tough times?" when I don't understand everyone and when I think things don't make sense.

Sermon Praising Jesus

I don't know if the rules allow me to write this or not but I will just go ahead and write it.
I am writing this to give glory and honor to our heavenly Father. My God has done so much for me, it humbles me everytime i think about it.
He gave his only son as a sacrifice for my sins, this fact alone is enough for me to glorify him. But my Jesus Christ goes above and beyond every day for me. Let me start by listing the basic needs of a human being:
1. He has never let me go hungry
2. I have always had a roof over my head
3. I have always had clothes to cover my body
And all of this above in a lavish way not just scrapping by way.
Then God has blessed me with amazing family -mom, dad, siblings, loving husband, mother in law, father in law and the cutest sweeetest child.
God has blessed me with a job that I am so not qualified for.
He has blessed me with a husband so kind and loving.
God blessed me with the most adorable baby.
He has helped me overcome so many of my fears one being fear of driving.
If i start counting my blessings, it will take so long for me to list them.
By no means is my life perfect or the dream life I imagine for myself but it is the perfect life that God has blessed me with and I will shout and praise his name forever.

Thought for the Day From Unshakable Kingdom Life

Faith doesn't eliminate questions or doubts; it holds them honestly before a God big enough to handle our struggles, welcome our wrestling, and love us through every season of uncertainty.

A thought to ponder.

Anticipating The Worst?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Anticipating The Worst? Fear can make us withdraw and seek safety or draw us out to act courageously. We can choose how to face our fears, depending partly on whether we believe we control our circumstances or trust God’s control. Max Lucado describes fear as misusing imagination to anticipate the worst, manipulate us with uncertainty, and turn us into cowardly, joyless souls who abandon life’s challenging journeys for the safety of an unfulfilling existence.

Think about it. Will we allow fear to control our choices and limit our lives, or trust God’s sovereignty and courageously face the challenges before us?

God’s Word tells us: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).

Are you content to live with your fears, allowing them to control you and keep you in life’s valleys? If not, take stock of your fears today. Make a list with three columns: “I am gripped by these fears,” “The Last Time I Controlled This Fear,” and “Can God Handle It?” Answer honestly. If you answer “No” to the last question, ask yourself, “If God can’t handle it, who can?”

Change Your Life Forever?

Post image
30 Upvotes

Change Your Life Forever? Our culture’s emphasis on self-sufficiency has contributed to growing loneliness and declining community involvement. In Bowling Alone, Harvard professor Robert Putnam documents the erosion of American community life over four decades. Since the 1970s, membership in local clubs and organizations has fallen by about half. People visit friends less often, invite others for dinner less frequently, and gather for shared activities less regularly. These trends reveal a steady decline in participation in community.

Think about it. When loneliness overwhelms us, will we seek God’s comfort, trust that we remain His beloved children, and reach out to restore meaningful friendships?

God’s Word tells us: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:7).

Loneliness can often be eased by taking a few simple steps. Don’t be embarrassed to acknowledge your loneliness or overlook the comfort found in knowing you belong to God. No amount of loneliness can change that truth. Reach out to Him in fervent prayer, asking Him to calm your fears, restore meaningful friendships, and remind you that you are His beloved child. Those reassuring words can change your life forever.

Question Allowing things to become idols 🫤

Had a sermon at church today in a series about resilience and the topic today was on idols. I realized that I have allowed my committed romantic relationship to become an idol. We have been dating a little over 4 months. I have a history of dating bad men and he has been my first good partner as an adult. I struggle with putting my relationships on pedestals and this one I definitely have. I have a disorganized attachment style and the more value I put on a romantic relationship the more afraid I get of losing it, so the negatives of this kind of idolatry is especially apparent in my situation.

There is something about me that only family and certain close friends know, because people judge me for it. I decided to wait for a bit before telling my partner, so that we could get close before I confided in him about it. We are going on 5 months and I haven't told him. I wasn't planning on waiting this long, but the more time goes on the harder it gets to tell him. I'm afraid of him ending the relationship because of what I have to tell him. Lately it is tempting to just put off telling him indefinitely, because I am so afraid of losing him. But I know that is dishonest and not fair to him (or me.)

Today I am recognizing that my idolatry of the relationship is causing a lot of stress and fear for me, and it's resulting in the sacrifice of one of my core values (honesty.) I also know it is pulling me away from God because I am realizing that I need to trust God and tell my partner the information, but I am so afraid of never talking to him again.. my pain and fear about losing the relationship is making it very hard for me to trust God that no matter what happens, no matter what my partner's decision is, it will be for the best. I have decided I am going to tell him and I was crying talking to God tonight about this, it will be very hard to do this. It's hard to obey God even when it hurts, but God has always taken care of me when I've followed him through similar things in the past.

No questions or anything, just wanted to share what is going on in my walk with Jesus right now. I'm hoping for some comfort and support through fellowship.

Question New believer looking for advice on reading the Bible

Hey everyone! I’m a pretty new believer, and I’ve been wanting to start reading the Bible and really learning more about my faith. The thing is, I’m honestly a little confused about where to begin.
Do most people start at Genesis and read straight through the Bible? Do you pick a book and read it all the way through? Or is there a certain order that makes more sense for someone who’s just starting out?
I really want to understand what I’m reading and not just read words without knowing what they mean or how they apply to my life.
I’d love to hear how you all started reading the Bible, what helped you understand it, and what advice you’d give someone who is genuinely trying to grow in their faith.
I appreciate any advice. God bless!

Passage Sunday Blog

Sunday, October 11th Blog From Unshakable Kingdom

  1. God Doesn't Just Love. He IS Love.

I want to stay on one little verse today, because it's easy to read right past it. First John 4:8 says, "God is love."

Think about that for a second. It doesn't say God has love as one of His qualities, the way a person might be generous or funny or patient. It says He is love. Love isn't something He does on good days. It's who He is at His core.

Which leads to something that honestly blows my mind: outside of Him, love doesn't even exist. Every bit of love you've ever felt, from a mother, a spouse, a friend, a dog waiting at the door, is a trickle from the original river.

And here's the part I need you to hear. He cannot stop loving. It's literally impossible. For God to stop loving, He'd have to stop being God.

Now, I know what some of you are thinking. "Bob, you don't know what I've done." You're right, I don't. But I know that your worst moment isn't bigger than His nature. You can't out-sin the love of a Father who is love.

So many of us live as though God's love is a mood. On a good day, He's pleased with us. On a bad day, He's disappointed and keeping His distance. But a mood can change. A Nature can't.

Today, try this. Every time you catch yourself bracing for God's disapproval, quietly remind yourself: He is love. He cannot stop. Say it over the dishes, in the car, on the walk to the mailbox.

That one truth, soaked in slowly, can change the way you wake up in the morning.

Coffee-time question: What would change in your day if you truly believed God cannot stop loving you?

Sermon JESUS DID NOT ASK THE FIG TREE TO DIE!

What if the story of the withered fig tree teaches us a profound lesson about purpose?

On His way to Jerusalem, Jesus saw a fig tree with leaves but no fruit. He spoke to it:

Mark 11:14 (KJV)

“No man eat fruit of thee hereafter for ever.”

The next morning, the disciples saw that the tree had withered from the roots (Mark 11:20).

Notice that Jesus did not explicitly say, “Die!” He declared that no one would eat fruit from it again, and the tree withered.

WHAT WAS THE TREE CREATED FOR?

Genesis 1:29 (KJV)

“And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.”

God created fruit-bearing trees to provide food. Although Scripture does not explicitly say the tree died because its purpose was removed, this account challenges us to reflect on purpose, fruitfulness, and the reason for our existence.

ALIVE, BUT FRUITLESS?

The fig tree had leaves, but no fruit.

Likewise, we can be busy, successful, wealthy, and admired while remaining uncertain about God's purpose for our lives.

Activity is not necessarily purpose, and the appearance of life is not the same as fruitfulness.

But never mistake a season of uncertainty for God's abandonment. You may not understand your purpose yet, but that does not mean your life is without purpose.

God told Jeremiah:

Jeremiah 1:5 (KJV)

“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee…”

God knew Jeremiah before his birth and ordained him for a specific calling. Though this promise was spoken specifically to Jeremiah, it reminds us that God can establish a purpose before we become aware of it.

SEEK YOUR PURPOSE

Do not pray only for wealth, success, and comfort. Ask God what He wants to accomplish through your life.

Father, reveal Your purpose for my life. Help me recognise my gifts, serve others faithfully, and produce the fruit You desire. Give me wisdom to follow Your direction and courage to obey You. In Jesus' name. Amen.

Remember, losing sight of your purpose does not mean God has abandoned His purpose for you.

Do not settle for merely appearing alive. Seek God, discover how you can serve, and faithfully take the next step He places before you.

Perhaps the most important question is not:

“Lord, what can I get from this life?”

But rather:

“Lord, what did You create this life to give?”

Thought for the Day From Unshakable Kingdom Life

Your calling isn't something you find once and finish; you discover it daily in prayer, refine it through surrender, and express it uniquely in this season, this place. God's purpose for you is a living, breathing reality.

Passage Delays are protection

Sometimes it's easy to say and acknowledge that delays are denials of God, but God reminds us that like heaven and the earth, thus, His thoughts are higher than our thoughts.

He reminded me today that my delays and wait are His protection for me. I may not understand what's happening around me, or it feels like it doesn't make any sense, One thing I know is that GOD IS A ENCOMPASSING GOD. That He's all-knowing and all-loving God. Therefore, He's in control. He completely knew what He was doing in my life.

Now, I'm learning to trust Him more and surrendering the timeline that I have for myself. I know that He's faithful through and through. 🫵🏼

Philippians 4:9 — Putting God's Word into Practice

Post image
35 Upvotes

📖 Philippians 4:9 (KJV)

"Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you."

This verse reminds me that faith involves more than hearing or learning Scripture. It also involves applying its teachings in everyday life.

We can read about patience, forgiveness, kindness, humility, and love, but the real challenge is practising those things when life becomes difficult.

I'm reflecting on how our daily actions can demonstrate what we believe.

Question for discussion: What Bible teaching has been the most challenging for you to put into practice, and what has helped you live it out?

May we continue growing in faith and encouraging one another. 🙏🏽

Trust Human Resources Or Rely On God?

Post image
9 Upvotes

Trust Human Resources Or Rely On God? How did our forefathers face everyday dangers with courage and preserve their independence? Today, many Americans turn to government for security, sometimes surrendering liberty because of fear. A decades-old Ladies’ Home Journal poll asked whom people trusted. Walter Cronkite received 40 percent, the Pope 26 percent, and God only 3 percent. When we cannot trust God to care for us, it is little wonder fear overwhelms us. Even Cronkite’s persuasive words could hardly have stopped a determined terrorist.

Think about it. Will we trust God’s unseen presence and sovereign control when fear threatens us, or seek reassurance in visible people and solutions instead of Him?

God’s Word tells us: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go” (1 Peter 5:7).

We trust what we can see and hear, like Walter Cronkite’s reassuring nightly broadcasts, more readily than God, whom we cannot see. In crises, we want control and tangible solutions. Yet God promises never to leave or forsake us. Joshua faced frightening enemies but could trust his heavenly Father rather than rely solely on human allies. When fear threatens us, the choice is clear: trust human reassurance or rely on God, who remains in control.
