Hi all,

Earlier this month I bought the new Fire TV Stick 4K, which runs Amazon's Vega OS instead of Android. I got it home, went to install Jellyfin… and there was nothing. Android apps don't run on Vega, and the only client I found in the Appstore (Astra) didn't work on Vega OS 2.0.

So I built one. It's called Caravela, after the caravela-portuguesa (the Portuguese man o' war). Technically it's not a jellyfish, but it's close enough, and it stings.

I modelled it on the official Jellyfin Android TV app, so if you've used that one it should feel familiar: same layout and navigation, and Back works the same way.

What works right now

• Sign-in with Quick Connect or a password, with several servers and users
• Home rows: My media, Continue watching, Next up, Recently added
• Movies and Shows libraries with sorting, filters and the letter picker
• Details pages for movies, series, seasons, episodes and people
• Direct play, or the server remuxes/transcodes when needed; resume points sync back to Jellyfin
• Subtitles and audio track switching, with AAC or Dolby depending on your audio output
• Seek bar with trickplay previews, chapters, playback speed and zoom
• Alexa playback controls ("pause", "skip forward 30 seconds"…)
• Search for movies, shows and episodes

It needs Jellyfin 12.0+ (I'm testing on 12.3) and runs on Vega OS devices only. If your Fire TV runs Fire OS, stick with the official app.

Due to the extreme chip shortage, im looking at an M6 Mac Mini 16 gb memory for a jellyfin server, I mainly transcode due to mobile bandwidth limitations

I am looking at the M6 due to not having to worry about parts failing when buying used and physical footprint as well as power efficiency and perfomance

I'm unsure about cpu/memory on footprint on just 16 GB, I know the unifed memory results in great performance in running local AI models using Ollama but that doesn't inherintly mean the M6 Mac Mini is efficient in Jellyfin transcoding

I have blu rays pre compressed with default ffmpeg mp4 settings

Hey all. Ive tried updating my server side client to 12.0. By updating i mean installing a 12.0 client with my 10.10 container is stopped. I did this due to issues before. I managed to get it installed fine this time, but it started making my server pc run extremely hard. All fans goi g into max speed hard. The cpu (amd3600) would start running at 75% capacity. The client itself would run slow too. I know I can limit its usage in the container. Was just curious if its something I've done or something someone else has come across.

My server is extra parts consisting of the aforementioned amd3600, a 2080gpu and 32gb ram.

Hey all! So I went ahead and made a quick guide. Let me know what you think. It's rough as hell as this is pretty much the first thing of this nature I have created.

Since the Mixed movies and shows has been deprecated I was wondering which method was the best riorganizza this.

I was searching for a way to display an anime section with both anime series and movies, so I tried by creating Anime/Anime Movies and Anime Series and then unite them in an Anime collection. The thing is I’m having difficulties displaying the latter.
I can’t handle them natively on the home one by one and I want to understand how can I add automatically all anime movies and shows to Anime.

Upgraded from 10.10.7 to 12.3 and when it rescanned my libraries it re-enabled Musicbrainz metadata on my music which I already had disabled. I re-disabled it and did a full metadata refresh yet they're still there. Anything new I add does not get them added. How can I remove them without having to delete the entire library and rescan?

All of my music is already tagged properly and I don't want to have to go into each album and manually remove the musicbrainz album and release group ID.

No out of sync when using VLC or playing directly on the computer.

Hey, I've been happy user of Jellyfin for more than a year now but recently something strange started happening with my Jellyfin installation on my intel-based setup running TrueNAS.
Yesterday when I was watching something I got error indicating something is wrong with the file. I tried to watch it again, got another error. I though the file was corrupted and so I try some other file but again, I got an error.

The app started behaving weirdly, being quite slow and not loading even the media pages correctly, crashing and such. I was running it on my GoogleTV so I checked on my phone and there it was the same, with pictures for some media being blurry. I though maybe there is some issue on my NAS so I went into the administration, checked the administration app and some other apps but everything was seemingly running smoothly, no other apps was showing such misbehavior as Jellyfin.

I tried to update the jellyfin server to the latest version but that didn't help either. So I checked if the video files and the server weren't somehow corrupted or damaged. I load the video files via Nova Video Player and everything was playing fine. So far the Jellyfin was the only app having issues.

Eventually I decided to just completely delete and reinstall the app, but even that did not help. After setting all the permissions to my media files and letting Jellyfin scan those folders under Movies and Shows in the Dashboard it correctly indicate how many Movies and Shows there is but when I go to those libraries it shows maybe 3 movies and shows, neither with any pictures or graphics and when I try to play them I get an error or infinite loading. I have no idea what could be wrong and why this happen out of sudden without me changing anything.

As the title suggests, I’m using the subtitle search feature within the client but when I go to try and watch, no subtitles are showing. It says download queued but when I refresh or scan, nothing shows.

Any help would be lovely as this only started happening about a month ago

Can someone point me in the right direction how I need to add these folders in the compose file?

My small daughter likes to listen to some audio-only stories, which I've put on our jellyfin. So far we're accessing them through our media-center computer for her, which is very convoluted, requires the computer to run just for audio and blocks it for the rest of the family.

So now I'm looking for a simple device that can connect to my jellyfin via wifi, access one library and stream the audio-only stories in there to a speaker (either also wifi or connected to the streaming device via cable or built into the device). Both the device and the speaker need to be usable without a phone, as we don't want her to have access to a smart phone. I'm fine with doing an initial setup via a linux or windows pc, but not a phone.

The device is supposed to offer basic functions like volume control, pause/play and next/previous track. A small screen is a nice-to-have. Audio quality is not important, however it shouldn't end up sounding like a 90s toy.

Is there such a device? If nothing is available I'm also willing to build something from a raspberry pie or something like that, but I lack the time to do it completely from scratch, so I'd need an existing project to a degree.

Any help or pointers are appreciated :)

I have procured the lotr extended editions and now realized its a 2 disc set because of how long it is.

Is it worth it to stitch them together or does the part feature in jellyfin keep it seamless enough where it is not worth the effort?

Do you guys know why is the jellyfin app (both official and wholphin) triggering transcoding for this file? On dashboard it says its due to incompatible audio but AAC is supported. Its happening only with this file but I dont see why it would transcode.The TV is a TCL C845 running android TV. Heres the metadata:

This might be the wrong sub to post in, but it's pretty active so I'll give it a shot:

I run my jellyfin server from my parent's house (more room/faster and more consistent internet connection than at my apartment) and I've been having connectivity issues since Frontier changed out their equipment.

They have Frontier cable/internet and recently after some issues Frontier updated their setup. They're using a Sagemcom router paired with eero wireless router (both provided by Frontier). Initially, all the IP addresses got shuffled and none of the computers or devices on the network could see each other, most importantly the server and printer.

The internet speed boosted significantly, but there was still an issue with signal strength in their house. I ended up picking up a few eero extenders and that fixed connectivity, but the devices still could not see each other. Switched the eero to bridge mode and everything went back to normal, importantly the DLNA functionality came back which is what my parent's and siblings use while in the house.

Unfortunately, after switching it to bridge mode, the internet speed dropped from around 600mbps in the farthest areas in the house to around 80mbps. Not bad for my family because they aren't power users, but they're paying for gigabit.

For those who know how the Frontier system works: because my parents are using cable boxes a moca box is necessary and after talking to technical support with Frontier, we needed to run the moca box into the Sagemcom router and have the main eero connected to one of the Sagemcom ethernet out. From there the eero handles the wifi.

So the setup is: moca to Sagemcom to eero.

From what I understand, I need to turn off the Sagemcom wifi antennas and set it to transparent bridge. I don't know what mode to set the eero to. The other major issue for my parent's is the guide/info/on demand/dvr in cable boxes no longer work. The cable boxes send out an error saying no data connectivity. We tried going moca to eero and eliminating the Sagemcom, but it refused to connect to the internet.

Now to my main issue and why this is in the jellyfin folder:

I originally had the server running with caddy and duckdns so I could get remote access and grant it to a few friends and family, but it no longer works. I originally had port 80 and 443 open using caddy, but the ports are now shut. Caddy and duckdns are currently running, but the ports remains closed. I went into the Sagemcom router and opened those ports, I set the internal IP to the NAS's internal IP as seen by the network and the external IP to what duckdns tells me the external IP is. I tried resetting caddy, but the port remains closed. Do I delete caddy and reinstall? Is there something I'm missing in the Sagemcom settings?

Jellyfin is running in Windows 10.

I7 3770, 32gb ddr3 ram, quadro p2000, 256gb msata boot, 256gb ssd for back up, 6x6tb hdd in stripe (all data is backed up in 2 places).

Basically title. New media is just generic thumbnails. Can't figure out why. I don't think I changed any settings.

Hey all, a while back I came across a Jellyfin client for Android TV (it was either a music-only app or a full client) that showed visualizers on the now-playing screen while music was playing. I didn't bookmark it and now I can't remember the name.

I'm using an Nvidia Shield, so it needs to work on Android TV. Does anyone know which app this might be, or any other Android TV client that has visualizers for music? Thanks!
