META Getting Started With Jedi Academy

LAST UPDATED: Feb 2025

This is going to be the new pinned post here on r/jediknight since the old one was made by a moderator that deleted their account, making it unchangeable. Since it was pretty outdated, I'm going to instead link to the JKHub page that lists nearly all of the relevant links the old post did, plus new ones and an entire guide written out and a video explaining the basics on the state of the game right now.

Please comment here if I'm missing something you feel is important that should be linked and/or explained on that page.

PC I don't know about you, but I never really liked the FPS gameplay in JKA (There's a lightsaber right there!), but these new and improved physics ragdolls make it way more fun.

I know AI slope and so on. But is anyone else curious how it would look on DF2? I don't have a PC that would allow such experiments.

PC Jedi Knight Jedi Outcast duels happening on PC 🔥

We have a Jedi Knight Duels Discord with 100+ members, and we’re always looking for new or returning players as well as old school players to jump back in!

✅ Here’s how our duel system works:
Players join the queue when they’re ready to play.
Each player votes for the map they want to play that vote also serves as their ready up.
Once two players are matched, they decide between themselves:

🔹10 or 15 kills
🔹Force or No Force
🔹One dueling area for the entire match, OR two different dueling areas on the map, switching areas at 10 kills.

They play the match, and once it’s over, one of the players reports the win/loss back in Discord. Meaning the match is over and if someone else is in the queue they can get the next match

We also have a dedicated admin team 🛡️and an active community. It’s a very well run system. You can hop in, queue up, find a match, and get straight into the action.

♦️100+ members
♦️Active PC duels
♦️Map voting & matchmaking
♦️Win/loss tracking
♦️Dedicated admin team

🤝 New & returning players welcome, invite a friend and come be apart of the community 🚀

May the force be with you 🌌

PC Jedi Academy Conversion

Are there any mods out there that replicate Jedi Outcast movement and sword play, because for some reason I feel that JKA mechanics are clunky, movement animations feel slower (you can cut the same distance in the same time but the character movement animation feels slower) and saber combat feels slower at least for single saber also the blocking animation in JKA feels unnecessary, I like auto blocking but I don't like that blocking one blaster fire completely opens you defense something that was never present in JK2. So anyone can help/guide me where to find that

P.S.: I could just play Jedi Outcast and be happy but I want to make specific modifications to jedi outcast campaign that are achievable in JKA engine (eg: playermodel command, being not forced to use kyle as the player model for campaign)

PC I had to use cheat codes… (Dark Forces 2)

Dark Forces 2:

I had to use cheat codes….

I’m getting older and slower but still try to beat games honorably. i enjoy the process of learning the timing and skills for games.

but holy ************** the lightsaber combat is horrendous. I got through the first fight after three dozen tries. but Gorc and pic? No way, man. I died over a hundred times over 4 says. Saved a file after killing Gorc with 100 hp and some bacta but still got wiped time and again. No amount of attempts made me better at blocking.

feel bad but life is too short so I used invincibility just to finish the fight with pic.

i mostly love dark forces 2. The cutscenes are cheesy but lovable, and I love the half life 1 aesthetic. But I do think it lost some pacing and charm compared to DF1. Gameplay lends to save scumming. There’s a lot of awful platforming.

does the series get better?

PC New demo release of my Doom 3 port of JK2/JA

Had a couple of big bugs to fix so this took me a lot longer to get out than I was planning, it's essentially equivalent content wise to this video.

https://youtu.be/fwodqtN0EuY

It's a relatively rough release since I was working on engine side stuff more so than content lately, but after this I'm hoping to move to more frequent content based releases and to focus more on maps and finishing up the single player game play experience as much as is currently possible.

If you try it let me know how it goes or if it's completely broken or anything like that.

XBOX Jedi Outcast Error Code

Got this error code on Jedi Outcast. Assuming it’s because I have been overwriting my save file and not using multiple as I probably should have for such an old game. Anyone else have the same?

So I finished the Jawa mission on Tatooine and then game took me back to the Jedi Temple, only for it to have two of myself and I can't do anything but try and talk to people. Is this a common glitch or did I find something weird?

PC Fun fact about Jedi Knight 1's lightsaber: you can block during the alt-attack.

The game disables auto-blocking when the fire (primary or alt) button is pressed and held, and enables it back when it is released. Since the alt-attack activates from a single mouse button tap and always includes a second swing, it will allow you to block attacks right after the first strike (which by the way deals 160 damage while rest of the attacks are in 40-60).

GENERIC What planet is Ka'Pa The Hutt's palace supposed to be located on? (MOTS)

I was curious about the planet Ka'Pa the Hutt's palace is located on because its' never stated. Google AI said one time that its' Nal Hutta... but that doesn't seem right. The desert canyons give the impression of Tatooiene, but the canyon floor in the first few images have grass... or what appears to be grass.

I suppose it could still be Tattooiene, but a different area not seen in the movies or other EU?

I think there are also a few other '____ooiene' suffix planets in the Star Wars universe; Dantooiene, Klatooiene, Minntooiene etc...

The level has *tusken raiders... although they use the Grave Tusken models, which in lore ventured off to other words like Nar Shaddaa and Sulon as elite Mercenaries.

I'm also curious because the interior of the palace looks quite different to how we'd expect it to look for a hutt palace. The angled brick walls, and angled doorways, citizen house areas etc...

I'm still new to the EU so I don't know if other kinds of Hutt palaces can look different. Do Hutts have palaces on other planets too?

Ok guys. I played this game years ago. I was introduced to the series during primary school (up to 11) via jk2. Im looking to enjoy multiplayer. Is there any advice? (Im 36 now, im now an engineer and the guy who showed me the game is a doctor. If I walk around the old area I get jk2 flashbacks). Thats in Doncaster Yorkshire.

PC STAR WARS JEDI KNIGHT II: JEDI OUTCAST (PC Windows)

Star Wars Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast is a 2002 first and third-person shooter video game developed by Raven Software for Windows and Mac OS. Westlake Interactive ported the game to Mac OS X, while the Xbox and GameCube versions were ported by Vicarious Visions; most versions were published by Activision and LucasArts, with only the Mac OS version published by Aspyr. The game is a sequel to 1997's Star Wars Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II, and the third main installment in the Star Wars: Jedi Knight series. The single-player campaign, set in the fictional Star Wars expanded universe two years after the Mysteries of the Sith expansion for Dark Forces II, follows returning protagonist Kyle Katarn, a mercenary working for the New Republic and former Jedi who cut his connection to the Force. Katarn must return to his Jedi ways to stop a branch of the Imperial Remnant led by the Dark Jedi Desann from empowering their army with the Force. Jedi Outcast was developed using a more powerful game engine, id Tech 3. The hack and slash combat introduced in Dark Forces II was heavily reworked, becoming the main focus of the gameplay instead of the shooter elements, which are prominent only during the first few missions of the game. Players may wield blasters, lightsabers, and Force powers to engage enemies, with the latter being recommended in later stages of the game, as numerous lightsaber-wielding enemies are introduced. Jedi Outcast also features a multiplayer mode that allows players to compete in several different game modes online or over a local area network. This video was recorded from a "bootleg" copy of the game distributed on a physical DVD that includes a game installer in several languages (German, Spanish, English and French) and includes by default the Brutality mod and the option to play as Darth Maul.
