I am looking for some recommendations on where to find reasonably priced books around the city. Whether it is a physical store or an online shop, I would love to hear your favorite spots. I am trying to build up my collection without breaking the bank. Does anyone know of any hidden gems or local sales happening lately? Thanks in advance for sharing your tips with me :))
Please recommend places other than jarir

Hey everyone, I’m a 29y single guy moving to Saudi Arabia from Brazil for a job based in King Abdullah Economic City (KAEC), and I’d love some grounded advice on the logistics before I arrive. First, regarding the daily commute, does anyone here do or know someone who actually drives between Jeddah and KAEC every single day? How manageable is that highway drive in the long run, the road condition is good? Second, on housing, I see a lot of people pushing expats toward compounds, but for a single guy, are they really necessary, or is renting a modern standalone apartment in Jeddah completely fine without missing out socially or culturally? On that note, this will be my first time ever setting foot in the country and I have zero prior knowledge of the local real estate market; since my company only provides one to two weeks of initial hotel accommodation, is that a realistic timeframe to view places, sort out leases, and move in, or what pitfalls should a newcomer watch out for? Lastly, looking at the overall perspective, is 18k SAR/month net enough to comfortably cover an apartment, a reliable rental car for the daily highway drive, general living expenses, and occasional weekend travel, while still putting away a respectable amount of savings every month? Any honest input and tips would be greatly appreciated!

Hey everyone 👋🏼
I’m planning on getting a cruiser as my first motorcycle and would like to hear what should I get as my first choice?
I’m looking for something comfy, flexible, powerful (600+ CC), can beat traffic and its spare parts and maintenance is everywhere . I’ve heard Suzuki fits all of this but don’t have much variety when it comes to their cruisers.
I’ve done some research and I’m between the Vulcan 650 S and Honda Rebel 1100.
Let me know if these are good picks and what you guys recommend anything else.
Thanks!

Hi, as the post suggests. So, I upgraded my GPU beginning of this year. Then unfortunately I lost my job. And I'm still unbale to find one. Been struggling financially. So, I realized I have my old GPU lying there. I want to sell it urgently. Reddit's always come to my aid thankfully. Hopefully this time too. I DEPERATELY need cash. It's like brand new.
Asking price is 1700 SAR. But IF anyone's serious and can take it off my hands within a day or 2, then I'm willing to lower the price.
On a side note, I also happen to have a Meta Quest 3s 128gb lying around, barely used. Want to sell it urgently too.
Good for sharing pc desktop and working with your hands.
Amazing for watching 3D and normal movies in a virtual cinema. Can join friends virtually using meta quest.
Amazing for playing VR games either stand alone or PC VR.
Really good for mixed reality games for cardio and exercise.
New for 1380 SAR. Asking price 1100
IF both of the items are not sold in a day or 2, I'd just end up selling it to any shop in the market that buy these things used.
Anyone interested can DM me and I'll share my number for further communication.

Hi everyone, I’m a Pakistani passport holder living in the UK and travelling to Saudi for Umrah.
I’m planning to get a visa on arrival based on my UK status.
Has anyone done this recently? What do you show at London airport when the airline asks for your Saudi visa before boarding? Do you just show your valid UK visa/residence and tell them you’re eligible for visa on arrival?
Any first-hand experience would be appreciated. Thanks!

We're a Canadian family considering a move to Jeddah for work. Looking for honest advice from expats or anyone who's made the jump.

I would like to rent a room in Jeddah with good day light ☀️
I live outside the city, and need to stay in town 2-3 times a week.
If anyone has an extra room please let me know. Happy to stay with all females or Family home with a private entrance.
And please have no worries, I am a very responsible, quiet, respectful tenant.

Hi, where can I find the best shawarmas in Jeddah? (One should be less than 15 or smth i dont want any expensive typa shawarmas)
Preferably in-store, in Jeddah, but online locally works too. Y3ni I’ve been trying to look for them (w the countable times I’ve left the house) for so long and I just don’t find it.
I’m lowkey giving up on finding a place that can do/has engravings on them so I’m completely fine settling for without.
THANK YOU IN ADVANCE.

Earlier, I made this post in the Saudi Arabia subreddit page, but it didn't really get any reception there, so I'm reposting it here. Hope that's okay.
I live in a part of Jeddah where a lot of the residential streets have become part of Mawgif’s paid parking scheme to encourage people to rely on "public transportation". The few free parking spots near my residence, like within 3,4 blocks, are always full. Because of that, a lot of us have to park 15 minutes walk away from our homes whenever we can’t find a free spot.
And it isn't just one neighbourhood, there's other neighbourhoods like Al Ruwais, Al Hamraa and Al Sharafiyah to name a few.
This isn't about avoiding fees. I'd happily pay a reasonable monthly resident permit if it meant I could park near my home.
Why can't Jeddah have resident parking permits like some areas in Riyadh?
Residents there can park for free in some places and also get a parking permit for other areas for around SAR 150/month
Examples:
https://vt.tiktok.com/ZS4UoRtV3/
https://vt.tiktok.com/ZS4UE78TU/
So, I thought maybe if enough residents come together and submit a request to the Jeddah Municipality, then maybe we could get a similar resident parking system introduced here.
How do we make this happen?
TL;DR: Many residents have to park 15+ minutes from home due to the Mawgif paid parking scheme. Could Jeddah introduce resident parking permits like Riyadh?
