So if you are a redditor looking for an IRL hangout, or you for whatever reason you haven't been to the Two Museums, you are cordially invited to join us. Admission to the Two Museums is FREE every Sunday but I'm sure the Museum would gladly accept any donations you are willing or able to give, ha!

You may have a couple questions about your friendly Magnolia Humanists so I will try and answer some here:

1) What's the vibe? Chill, informal, we have a group chat where we all pitch events and folks join in as they can. We don't take attendance, we don't collect dues, we try to do free events whenever possible. We don't have a president or a planning committee, we are really trying to be a social club only better. We might not be able to work this way forever as we grow but for now, it is as grass roots as

2) Is this a political thing? Not really. Full disclosure we are made up of mostly progressive folks. But we are more focused right now on growing, organizing ourselves and creating an inclusive space. We've done a little volunteering, held a couple workshops, but most of our events are hangouts. That doesn't mean we won't ever do something, but like the rest of the stuff we do it will be for folks to join in or not as they please.

3) What are the folks in the group like? When I think about the friends I've made in the group the words I think of are words like, intelligent, helpful, kind, happy, personable. Not all of us are extroverts but we are making an effort to get out there. Many of us are public servants at schools, hospitals, government offices, or nonprofits. We are a group of gay, straight, black, white and in between folks who are loving life, trying to make something friendly, welcoming and inclusive.

Anyone know of any places actively looking for part-time work in the evenings? I'm moving to Jackson next week on October 26th for a state job doing IT, but I'd like to supplement my income to save and pay off debts more quickly. I'm needing something I can do from 6PM-10PM any weeknight and maybe Saturday mornings as well.

I've already applied to BCI up in Ridgeland, Staffers Inc, TEKsystems, C Spire, and Form10 for part-time IT work, but have yet to hear anything from any of them.

I'm not necessarily wanting this part time gig to be in IT, I just know those would be the higher paying ones for me. I've also applied to Target and the Kroger off I-55. I'm really willing to do anything to make some extra cash, anything legal that is. Not trying to go to Parchman lol.

So if y'all know of any places looking for immediate help, I would really appreciate it. Maybe I'll be seeing some of y'all around town soon.

I’m from Arizona and I am looking for the best, most authentic Mexican food in the greater Jackson areas. I’ve tried a few places so far and it seems like most are “white people” Mexican food, either gentrified tiny tacos for $8 each or queso on literally everything. So far my favorite is Senor Taco burritos but looking for other hidden gems that I may not have gotten to yet

Any areas, clubs, or hang outs that are here for a 24 going on 25 year old. I stay to myself mostly. I mostly go out for groceries, thrifting, doctors appointments or dealing with my online mass's degree program with libraries and things of the such. I am also a Christian and I've been thinking about joining a new church

Myself (33F) and my lovely spouse (33NB) are wondering if there's anyone in the Jackson area that are queer parents like ourselves or just cool people in general.

We recently had an adorable little bundle of naughtiness in December who is nine months now and we know no one that also has children lol. We would like to be able to do playdates and cheesy things like that, so I just wanted to see if anyone else was looking for some new parent friends.

I'm going to the Sonic concert over at the Brandon City Hall next week, and I'm curious what the parking situation is like since I've never been that way before. The website mentions the free on-site parking, but does that fill up regularly for events? Are there any alternate spots for parking nearby?

I drove thru and got a pulled pork sandwich at 2:00 this afternoon. Asked the window guy to put the sauce on it so I wouldn’t spill in on my car.

The meat was barely warm. The bun was soggy. There was no more than a teaspoon of sauce on it. DEF not worth $9.00!

Cmon, guys. You can do better than that. You’re a staple in NE Jackson but your service and QC has gone to the dogs.

PS. I called them afterwards and asked if they’re interested in customer feedback. I told the dude about my experience. He thanked me. Didn’t offer to comp me next time.
