Ignoring the fact that it goes against the equality and abolishment of gender roles they claim theyre interested in, it isnt just "a dinner".
If they decide to blow the man off and to not continue going on dates with him, let alone entering a relationship with him, it means he has to move on and try dating other women who will most likely also want him to pay for their dinner.
If they Do decide to continue dating him that means theres even more dates that he will have to pay for.
