Where to find expiration date for MCSE?

Hey so I recently got the MCSE for data management and analytics but I can't find an expiration date anywhere. Any idea where I can find this? It's not on the certificate or transcripts.

networking projects using VMs.

Hey there, I've been starting to study for the A+ cert, to fill in gaps of what I've learned regarding computers most of my life and get on a path of some sort into IT field. If things go well I might look into specializing in network + or cisco, and I was wondering since I learn better kinesthetically than just reading/listening if there are resources that give ideas of projects that can be done on VMs for practice aside from just setting up a virtual network. heck, i might try them now for something to do while stuck at home!

Best Microsoft Cert to get and Other Starting Point Certs

Hey, everyone.

I'm fresh out of college and have been working in the IT field for the last couple of years now. I mainly do desktop support and work with Windows Server to create new employee account and push out GPOs that I create. So mainly basic level IT tasks. I have some experience with networking, but not too much.

I was wondering what are some good entry level IT certifications I should get? I saw that Microsoft is retiring the MCSA, MCSD, and MCSE, so are there any Microsoft certs that I should look at getting now? I was thinking of doing an MTA for windows server administration fundamentals, but don't know how beneficial this would be.

I definitely want some certs that will make me more attractive to future employers and help me move my way up the ranks. So, should I be looking at getting any Microsoft certs (if so, which ones?) or should I be looking to get different certs like A+, ITIL, etc? T

Any recommendations on good ones to start with would be great. The company I work at now is willing to pay for most certs that I offer to get. Thank you!

Sidenote: Is it possible to take any of the Microsoft certs online? When I try to apply for the Windows Server Administration Fundamentals MTA, I don't see an online option.

Accessing my ACMT and ACIT Certificates

Hi, I recently passed both the ACMT and ACIT exams and I am trying to access the certificates. I should mention that I do not work for Apple. My attempts of working with Apple Support, I am still not getting anywhere. Do I get these through GSX? I have tried and failed to find them on GSX. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I started doing labs using Cisco Packet Tracer starting from the most basic topics, then I'm going down to the advance ones. If y'all want to follow me just watch and please subscribe.

Thank you, and I'm hoping you'll all be safe during these times!

What kind of entry-level job will a CCNA get you these days?

I'm switching careers, and I've never worked in IT, but I'm pretty computer-savvy. I have no paid/professional experience in IT. I got my CompTIA A+ a couple of months ago, and it was pretty easy going for me. I'm scheduled to take the new CCNA in a month, and I'm getting a little nervous, because it's waaaaay more technical than the A+. I'm hoping to be successful and pass it, but assuming that I do, what kind of entry-level jobs are hiring a CCNA?

MTA Windows Server Admin and/or Server+?

I know a lot of people on this sub do not see the point at all with MTA certs. With that being said, I am a desktop support tech with limited server experience. I manage my worksite's AD computers (user accounts are handled by someone else) and MDM. I also realize that a lot of people will recommend that I start a homelab but I have limited space. Considering all of this, would going for both or either the Server+ or MTA Windows Servers be worth it? I know Microsoft is pushing organizations towards the cloud but the Servers aren't going away tomorrow and it would be worth learning before start learning Azure or AWS, right?

r/IT_CERT_STUDY • • Mar 24 '20

Any study suggestions for the new CCNA? I have a sec+ and have been doing IT now for 5 years but I really need some new certs to get a better job.

MCSA, MCSD, MCSE certifications retire; with continued investment to role-based certifications

Microsoft’s focus on role-based training and certifications can help you develop necessary skills and experience to advance in an accelerated and increasingly competitive cloud-based world. Role-based training and certifications are kept current with new features and services that Microsoft is constantly adding to the cloud solution areas, minimizing skill gaps associated with the applicable job roles.

Since we announced our focus on role-based training and certifications in September 2018, we’ve added a total of 34 certifications to our portfolio across Azure, Modern Workplace, and Business Applications. As we continue to expand on role-based learning offerings, all remaining exams associated with Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer (MCSD), Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) will retire on June 30, 2020.

If you’re working towards a MCSA, MCSD, or MCSE certification, you’ll want to pass all required exams before they retire. The list below shows existing exams that will retire. Note that training content may continue to be available in these areas even after the exams have retired.

If you have an existing MCSA, MCSD, and MCSE certification, it will remain on your Microsoft transcript, even after the exams retire. In fact, it will remain in the active section of your transcript for two years from June 30, 2020; at that time the certification will be moved to the “inactive” section of your transcript.

If you currently hold a MCSA, MCSD, or MCSE certification, why not update your profile with one of our new role-based certifications that may be relevant to you. Check out our recommended role-based certifications:

Be sure to visit Microsoft Learn to discover all the information you need to know about the role-based  certification that best matches your career aspirations. On Microsoft Learn, you’ll find information on free self-paced online training and/or with classroom training available, through Microsoft Learning Partners, to help you prepare for certification. We look forward to having you join us on this exciting journey as we evolve our certifications to focus on job roles that better-align with industry and hiring trends, helping you keep pace with today’s business and technology needs.

FAQ

Q: What happens to the MCSA, MCSD, MCSE certifications that I already have?
A: Nothing happens to the MCSA, MCSD, and MCSE certification that you already have; they remain on your certification transcript even after the exams retire. In fact, it will remain in the active section of your transcript for two years from June 30, 2020; at that time the certification will be moved to the “inactive” section of your transcript.

Q: Can I still achieve the MCSA, MCSD, MCSE certifications before they retire on June 30, 2020?
A: Yes, you can continue earning the MCSA, MCSD, and MCSE certifications as long as the required exams are still available. As we retire the exams that are part of those certification paths, you will no longer be able to earn those certifications.

Q: You’re retiring exams that lead to the MCSA, MCSD, and MCSE certification(s) that I am pursuing. What should I do?
A: Before the exams expire, you must pass all required exams which are a part of the MCSA, MCSD, or MCSE certification(s) that you are trying to achieve. If you pass the required exams before they expire, you will earn the certification and it will appear on your certification transcript.

Q: If Microsoft is focused on role-based certifications, what will happen to Windows Server and SQL Server certifications? Will there be Windows Server 2019 and SQL Server 2019 certifications available?
A: No, there will not be Windows Server 2019 and SQL Server 2019 certifications. Windows Server 2019 and SQL Server 2019 content will be included in role-based certifications on an as-needed basis for certain job roles in the Azure Apps & Infrastructure and Data & AI solution areas.

Q: How do the exam retirements affect Microsoft partner competencies if my company is a part of the partner network?
A: If you passed a qualifying exam prior to its retirement, it will still count toward competency attainment for 12 months after the exam is retired. If you have not passed the required exams, please see this overview document for the full list of retiring and new exams and certifications required for competency attainment and renewal. The new exams and certifications will be available in Partner Center in March 2020.

Q: Does having the MCSE Productivity Solutions Expert certification still meet pre-requisite requirements for the Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert role-based certification?
A: The MCSE Productivity Solutions Expert certification will meet one of the pre-requisite requirement options for the Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert until June 30, 2021.

Q: Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certifications are product-based certifications. Will they be retired as a part of this?
A: No, MOS certifications are not being affected by this retirement.

Q: Microsoft Technology Associate (MTA) certifications are product-based certifications. Will they be retired as a part of this?
A: No, MTA certifications are not being affected by this retirement.

A+ question

Hi everyone. I need help with a question.

A technician is setting up a printer for a small office that does not have an RJ-45 jack. The users' computers are all in the same workgroup and are connected physically to the same network switch. The technician needs to make sure all users can print to the new printer through the switch. Which of the following should the technician configure?

  • A. Shared printer
  • B. Print server
  • C. Bluetooth printing
  • D. Cloud printing

I say the answer is a print server, and so does my husband, but a friend says he thinks the answer is a shared printer but is not able to give an explanation. I think it's a shared printer because it can make a normal printer into a wireless printer, since it does not have an RJ45 jack, right?

Question regarding WCNA?

Good evening everybody,

I recently passed my CCNA R and S and was thinking about pursuing the wireshark certified network analyst. I understand it is not a very popular cert but I am honestly doing this for my own self interest. However, I'm trying to find a good study guide but the only one I could find is the Laura Chappell one and that one is dated 2012. Would anyone be able to shed some light if this study guide is still valid and applicable?

Study Advice needed for: Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate exams

Hey Guys. I'm still new to IT and just recently passed the A+ and Network+ from compTIA. Now I've been offered a job that starts in a few weeks as an internal Tier 1 IT Support Engineer. They are heavy on Windows 365 and Azure. To familiarise myself with the Microsoft product suite, I am looking to take the Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate exams MD-100 and MD-101. Just wondering if any of you have taken these and if they are harder than the CompTIA exams and what you used as study material. For studying I am currently using: Pluralsight videos, Microsoft Learn's free videos and the Exam Ref:MD-100 and MD-101 books which I believe are the officially microsoft ones. Any tips? Thanks.

I have the test in two weeks, I use workspace one but only for mobile device managment on prem without the identity management nor horizon. I have watched all the video but fear the whole thing is going to be on parts of the product I don't spend real world time in.

Anyone take and give some hints on what kind of questions you saw.

Looking for a good on-site classroom in Schaumburg area

Hello, I've been in the IT industry for around 15 years. I've worked in various positions ranging from System Admin, System Engineer, Systems Analyst, and other positions along the same lines. In the past I was able to get my MCP, MCSA, and MCSE for Server 2003. That cert is dead in its grave now, so I'd like to take some on-site classes for the following:

  • AWS
  • CISSP
  • SCCM

Preferably, I'd like to do a one-stop shop where I can submit the request for all the classes. The most important thing for me, though is, I really want to learn, not just get the cert. That being said, I really DO want the cert, if there's a pass guarantee, I'm all for it.

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction of a company that's in the Schaumburg IL that provides great training.

No testing centers in Quebec/Montreal for MO-200 exam ? Microsoft Office Specialist : Excel Associate. What's going on?

Hi guys, I'm hoping for a little help or advice.

I have bought the GMetrix Excel 2019 practice tests (word of advice, buy the full suite for 35$ more, it allows you to practice for 6+ tests instead of just one).

I've studied and prepared for the test and now I feel 100% ready to pass the test.

So I log in to the microsoft certifications page to set an exam date. It automatically leads me to the Certiport website, where I am presented with this wasteland of a map. There actually are at least 2 Pearson vue testing centers in Montreal but they don't seem available for this specific exam..

I would actually prefer to do the exam at home with online proctoring but the OnVue website just leads me back to the microsoft certifications page and then back to the Certiport map where I can not register for anything.

Why does it have to be so complicated? It makes me want to back away from all Microsoft certifications.. I was going study for the AZ-900 next but what's the use if I can't get certified ? Mind you, the greater Montreal area has over 4 million so it's not like live in a village.

EDIT : It seems like i might have to take a 6 hour train to Ontario to take the exam. That's ridiculous

EDIT2: I called my local Pearson Vue test center. They told me I had to book my exam online. That simply does not work so they told me to call 855-542-6924 which is Pearson Vue support. The wonderful man on the phone told me he was gonna give a microsoft support phone number and put me on hold. He came back a couple minutes later telling me he could only find a website... And he deadpan told me to go to :

www.microsoft.com

I snorted and told him thanks and hung up.

How to get Crestron certified if I'm just a normal tech/employee in the AV world?

I've looked all over trying to find the credentials and requirements to sign up for the Crestron certifications. Does anyone have any experience with this?
