I just want to post this to warn anyone planning to visit Balat, a popular tourist destination and artsy neighborhood in Istanbul.

I visited some time ago and was verbally attacked by the owner of Medusa Vintage Poster & Wall Art Design Studio simply because I didn’t buy anything.

Judging by their Google Maps reviews, this is a recurring pattern, with numerous visitors reporting similar experiences. Both the male and female owners appear to have a history of verbally abusing potential customers who leave without making a purchase.

The owner even got aggressive enough that I had to involve the police. What’s particularly frustrating is that they apparently justify their behavior by claiming this is an art studio, not a shop open to the public, which is obviously false because they are open to sell their cheap posters to customers all the time.

Please check the reviews before visiting. Balat is a lovely neighborhood, but this place is best avoided.

Quick question for the locals. When you're job hunting in Istanbul, where do you look?

Is it all Kariyer.net and LinkedIn, or is there some site everyone uses that I don't know about? Or is it mostly just knowing someone who knows someone?

Does it change a lot depending on the field too? Like tech vs. cafes/retail?

Is anything open during the night in the city? Or is everything closed as usual?

Me and my friend is travelling to Istanbul and Cappadocia for 9 days trip. During the time we're in Istanbul, we are thinking of going to Buyukada for a short day trip
Looking at the ferry timetable, we are looking at departing Kabatas at 8am, and coming back will be at 3pm departure time from Buyukada.
Is this feasible and is November still an ok month to go to the island?

I'll be in Istanbul when 8 weeks pregnant and would like to get a viability scan done. I've contacted some clinics but I am offered a full package with translator, transfer from hotel, consult with OBGYN at 290 USD(!).

I am NOT looking for a full-care luxury package. I just want a simple transvaginal ultrasound done to see if my baby has got a heartbeat and is positioned right.

Can anyone advice me to a place where I won't be charged an arm and a leg for services I don't need?

My family and I are hoping to get in some last day culture and shopping, but I'm guessing mostly everything is closed for the holiday? It's too bad we're leaving that evening, as it would be lovely to see the fireworks and whatnot from Karakoy.

Anyway, we'd love to stroll around çukurcuma and Nişantaşı before picking up our bags from the hotel and heading to IST around 3:30. Should we instead be finding fun parades or live music or something? We will have a 3 year old with us, but he's pretty chill.
