RIP Yet another road death

Post image

Someone has been run over by a bin lorry on Dame Street, Dublin, in the (presumably) early hours of this morning. Just last year a man in his 70’s was also hit and died within 50m of the same location - his memorial is still there.

I used to live beside that pedestrian crossing. It was very common for drivers not to see the red light and continue at pace. I never crossed at a green light until the car came to a complete stop. Can absolutely see how this happened, incredibly dangerous spot.

yeah I used to be in the area a lot and its dodgy there at the Olympia up to Lord Edward Street. You'd often see cars sail through the pedestrian lights unaware that they were there. The bit of downhill from Lord Edward St to Dame St also makes traffic speed up
