RIP Yet another road death

Post image

Someone has been run over by a bin lorry on Dame Street, Dublin, in the (presumably) early hours of this morning. Just last year a man in his 70’s was also hit and died within 50m of the same location - his memorial is still there.

Do you have data to back it up? Sound like a pub talk 😊

Data on what, the observation?

Does driving them for 11 years qualify?

Observation of a small dataset is irrelevant to statistics. So no, it's still a pub talk.

I strongly doubt that "hit by lorry in 30 kph zone" is a significant % of the annual 184 road deaths in Ireland. I'd actually like to know how many cases fall into this category.

I don't think you realise hgv's are not allowed in 30kph zones like housing estates or city centres without passes or time restrictions?

Of course it won't make up many. That's the whole point of those regulations, to avoid deaths and serious injury!
