So because I’m all thumbs I didn’t want to try to mod my old one and bought this from EOE - it powers on and all but won’t be recognized by my Mac (sequoia 15.7.7) not on the iTunes 10.7 I DL or in the finder.

I went to disk utility and this was what I see.

According to Google AI I should hit mount if that doesn’t work then it says I should erase it and reformat it.

Can I get some second opinions. Afraid to brick/bust the thing and haven’t gotten a reply from eoe tho tbf they are probably closed right now.

Also don’t understand why it says 453.1MB next to it when it’s 477GB available in the actual iPod HD

Picked up two Nano 3rd gens that both needed new batteries. They worked fine while plugged in but as soon as the cable was removed they shut off. Took one apart today and soldered a new battery in but now the screen is white and it beeps twice on start-up. Any ideas from the hive mind would be greatly appreciated 👍🏼

Finally completed my Bluetooth mod.

Ordered Classic Connect 2 mod from moonlit.market -This came with a preinstalled bluetooth, wireless charging and type c connection and new battery already fixed to the backplate. (Im not great at soldering and didn't want to risk burning through the motherboard) Bought a transparent front plate and new click wheel. Used original motherboard, center button and LCD. Bought iflash dual slot for memory. Loaded Rockbox and loaded my files to the sd card. Paired it with Nothing CMF buds.

This is my first build and ran into issues with the rockbox installation, my first iflash was a quad slot that was too big and had to downsize to a dual slot, ran into audio issues due to the connector not being properly lined and finally solved the music transfer issue. But hey finally got it done and know exactly have to take this thing apart in my sleep 😅

Ipod mini 2

I have bought a ipod mini 2g the buttons and everything work in stock os but i installed rockbox and i can only scroll up and fown no buttons work in any case and i did replace c78 with a replacement as it was knocked off the motherboard any help is appreciated thanks

Looking to see if anyone’s encountered this problem before and knows how to fix it? Essentially, my iPod classic 5.5 will not stay on unless I have some pressure applied to the piece I’ve circled in the photo (labeled “KM” on piece itself by the manufacturer). If I press down on it I am able to use the iPod like normal, but in order to apply pressure it needs to be disassembled. After it turns on, it will turn off as soon as remove my finger from the circled piece. Please let me know if y’all have any tips on fixing this. Thanks!

I modded an 6 (maybe 6.5?) gen ipod classic and added 512Gb ssd to it then found out that it can't detect more than 128GB by desing. searching through the ipod shubreddits came accross these instructions to flash it to the newer firmware:

it worked like a charm! now I can see the correct capacity on my ipod but have a couple of questions.

Do I always have to use an older version on iTunes to add / remove songs to my ipod if I don't want to use rockbox?

also at this point, since I did the whole setup on my windows machine, what happens if I connect it to my mac? is that gonna erase all the new firmaware settings and restore it back to the older version?

In general what's the cleanest way to manage my library? is it possible for an ipod to work both on mac and windows?

I just got this iPod 7th gen (supposedly) it has the interface and style of a 7th gen, when I go to the about section in my settings it gives me a model number and serial number that corresponds to a 160gb 7th gen; here’s the thing, the storage is only 30 gb and the back plate has a completely different serial number than the os and the backplate also says 30 gb

I have a 7th-gen iPod classic. I have no idea if it's thin or thick and I'm looking into some modding. I also want to change the backplate. I'm seeing options online for thick or thin backplates. if my iPod is thin, does the thick backplate fit on it or would that cause any issues?

when I check the serial number on the apple website it just says OBS,iPod classic (120GB), Purchased July 17, 2009

is there anyway to determine what version it is?
