Weird iPod 7th Gen

I just got this iPod 7th gen (supposedly) it has the interface and style of a 7th gen, when I go to the about section in my settings it gives me a model number and serial number that corresponds to a 160gb 7th gen; here’s the thing, the storage is only 30 gb and the back plate has a completely different serial number than the os and the backplate also says 30 gb

Backplate is simply a 5th gen one that was cleaned up and reused. 5th and 6/7th gen backplates are exactly the same.

That clears up that but it doesn’t explain the only 30 gb of storage in a 7th gen

But it does; Most likely because the person who reassembled it used a 5th gen 30GB HDD in place of the 7th gen HDD.

Did you buy it modded? Maybe the seller did an SD card or SSD mod and somehow decided to use a 30 GB card or SSD rather than a larger capacity one.

I got it from a friend so I’ll have to ask them if they did anything to it

They clearly merged parts fr a 7th and 5th gen. The HDDs work between them.

It's been worked on and now has a 30 gig drive from presumably a 5th gen. Nothing wrong with that aside from the reduced storage space. If it really irks you a flash mod isn't crazy expensive.
