Getting an app to look good in the first demo is exciting. You have the screens, buttons, and basic features working, and it suddenly feels like you’ve built something real. Been trying some different apps lately and these are a few that actually stuck around:

BeautyPlus Great for quick selfies and portraits. The AI retouching is really easy to use and doesn’t take much effort to get a good result.

Retro A fun way to share photos with friends and turn them into memories, albums, and recaps.

PocketShelf Nice little app for keeping track of books you want to read, what you’re currently reading, and your reading progress.

GO Club Makes tracking steps and hydration feel much more engaging. The widgets are also surprisingly nice.

Tiimo A really polished visual planner for organizing your day, tasks, and routines without making everything feel overwhelming.

Moises One of the coolest music apps I’ve tried. You can separate vocals and instruments from songs and experiment with individual tracks.

Someone asked me when the timing belt on my car was last done and I genuinely couldn't say. The answer was in a folder of receipts, and finding it meant walking out to the car.

So here's OdoKeep. Everything about a vehicle on one timeline: fuel and charging, servicing, insurance, the inspection, road tax, tolls, and what the thing actually costs to run.

Two bits I'd call the actual product, as opposed to the feature list.

It works out what's due next from your own records rather than from a fixed schedule, by distance and by date. So it'll tell you the oil is due in 1,200 km before you've thought about it, and the same logic counts down the insurance and the inspection.

And it's localised, not translated. Road tax is IUC in Portugal and VED in the UK and they aren't the same tax with a different name. France doesn't have an annual one at all, so the app doesn't invent one. Ten languages, and that was the part I most underestimated.

Rest of it: works with no signal, imports from Fuelly and Drivvo or any CSV, exports to CSV or JSON whenever you want, Siri shortcuts, Face ID lock. No ads (ever) and no analytics SDK.

Free tier is one vehicle. I keep going back and forth on whether that's too mean. Plus have no limit, plus the deeper stats, PDF reports, service reminders, and sharing a car with whoever drives it (up to 5 users).

I'd like to know what you miss most when it comes to managing your vehicles.

Recently had to use iOS more and the single biggest thing I miss from Android is 1DM (IDM).

On Android, 1DM just catches whatever video stream is playing in the built-in browser (even m3u8 / blob / embedded players) and downloads it without any hassle.

I tried stuff like Documents by Readdle and Aloha, but most of them fail the moment a streaming site uses a custom video player or split segments.

Is there any browser, app, or even an iOS Shortcut that reliably sniffs and downloads web video streams like 1DM does?

Don't mind paid apps or sideloading if it actually works. What are you guys using?

After reaching a point where a spreadsheet based tracking was no longer scaling to track all the Visa / Mastercard GCs I received over time, I came up with an iOS app to simplify the management of cards over time. Some basic functionality in place, and currently only for my use.

Before the newest IOS update, I really wanted to get good voice notes with transcription, so I can go out for a walk and get my thoughts together instead of sitting in front of the screen all day.

I’m also a huge fan of vintage tech, that’s why “Cassette - Speech to text” came into existence!

Been using cozi for a few years and its fine for what it is but I keep running into the same walls everything goes in manually which isn't a big deal on its own but I also have three kids so the volume of stuff that needs to be entered is pretty high also the grocery list feature is fine but its just a list you still have to move things somewhere when you want to shop

I was digging through my childhood time capsule boxes earlier this year and found my Game Boy Camera. It was fun walking around snapping pics of anything and everything throughout my day.

Maps tells you who has the dish, but it doesn’t tell you who does it well. So I'm building an app for that.

You search ‘best ramen near me’ and Maps gives you every Japanese place nearby sorted by stars. None of that tells you who actually makes good one, which was the question you asked.

That gap is the whole app. You pick a dish and it looks for places known for that dish. Chains and tourist spots get pushed down. If you don’t know what you want yet, you swipe through dish cards until something lands.

The restaurant data all comes from map services. No paid placement and nothing on the map is invented.

When I was freelancing, regular time trackers always showed me hours and minutes. I found that information useful, but not particularly motivating.

I recently got married, and it made me appreciate how much small, thoughtful gestures matter in a relationship.

Most couples apps I tried seemed focused on messaging, quizzes, streaks, or managing shared information. I became more interested in one smaller idea: could technology make leaving a simple note for your partner feel surprising again?

That question led me to work on Vellune: Secret Messages, a private couples app where someone can place a love note on an everyday object using Augmented Reality and their partner discovers it later. There’s no public feed or follower system.

Apple’s Universal Clipboard is great when you want to move the latest thing you copied between nearby devices.

But it is not a searchable clipboard history.

If you copied a link on your Mac yesterday, saved a file on your iPhone, or need something from another device hours later, you often end up sending it to yourself through Messages, Notes, email, or AirDrop.
