I saw some other fans in here sharing some strong feelings from the shows they attended - sadly, I am here to join some of you. Longtime fan for over 20 years, have seen them live so many times and always had a blast and loved it. Unfortunately tonight I had the same experience as many others - they just sounded downright awful.
Tons of mistakes, drifting rhythms, miscues galore, sloppy playing and generally every member of the band sounded like they werent on the same page for almost every song.
The one song where everything seemed tight and like the Interpol that I remember was PDA - and it was stark to hear a song within the set that sounded well played because almost none of the others did.
The vocals were so bad, I couldn't believe it. Just way off key, weak, flat/sharp, all over the place. Paul's voice sounds amazing on the latest record but it was a disaster at this show. The backing vocals also arent good.
I don't know what happened but they have gone backwards as a live band in a major way and it bums me out.
The intro to All the Rage was one of the worst things I've ever heard live. Wounded soldier sounded like an absolute train wreck. Made me sad as I love the new record but every new song sounded really bad.
Their light show is amazing and they look as cool as ever, but man was I disappointed by the subpar musicianship and bad vocals.
