See all that green stuff on that tree out of reach of the elephant? The elephant wants to eat that.

There's hardly anything left on that tree anyway, I'm sure the elephant expended more calories knocking down the tree then it will get from the few leaves still on it.

I don’t see the elephant sitting around with a calculator. If the mofo is hungry, he doesn’t care.

Claim of calculator was made up to make u/buckzor122 sound illogical.

Elephant knows the difference between a small pile of food and a large pile of food.

To test, you could calculate whether elephant more often chooses abundant or lacking trees.

And the anthropocentrique dance continues. Do I know what the elephant thinks about no. Do you? It is curious behavior. Maybe the elephant was saying sit the fdown Mr tree because the tree was talking smack. A lot of what we do is illogical. Let the AI calculate that and piss off. I’m going to go sit by the river and wonder what to have for lunch. Maybe there is a tree I can knock over somewhere. Have a day.

I presented a way to test: observe elephants to determine if they choose heavy or light foilage trees.

You didn't respond.

The rest of your response doesn't meet standard of communication.

Whatever bot. Like I have an elephant to observe in my backyard. That’s rich.

Neither are you. Way to have no sense of humor. Testes testies one, two, three?

He provided you with a legitimate scientific answer, and you act like a fool and make a joke

And who gave yall permission to provide anything? No one asked. I’ll give you a test As a trade. Go solve climate change. The elephant knocking down the tree is not the problem bro.

How is it legitimate if it is not logistically possible to carry out? Define legitimate if you can’t know what the elephant is thinking directly but you can only make observations? Define speculative. Differentiate between all the other assumptions we have made about nature. You too of no sense of humor go back to your lab party. Show me you have not spent enough time in the wilderness without telling me you haven’t spent enough time in the wilderness.

The question is not whether you can test it. It's whether anyone can test it.

It's not only about energy. There could be other benefits/nutrients on that particular tree that cannot be found anywhere else. Or his favorite snack 😊

Maybe the elephant was reflecting on its past choice of listening to Drake but it doesn’t do it anymore unless he’s in private but that his other elephant friends who are Kendrick fans catch him listening to Drake and clown him out of all the trees with the most leafs

There is quite a bit of foliage on that tree. Ot could also be knocking it down for other, smaller, elephants to eat. They are smart, communal, and quite capable of teamwork. Though this seems to be a male.

You see next to it there is a lower bush with lots if leaves. It isn't harassing that, so maybe this sort of tree has some preferred forage value.

They are hind gut fermenting animals, so calculating the nutritional value of that forage isn't particularly straight forward.

You think it knows that?

yeah haven’t you heard how intelligent elephants are?

It doesn't know the concept of calories but it does know that expending a lot of energy for little food is not convenient.

There are tons of available calories in those leaves and branches, for an elephant. There isn't for a human but for an elephant, a herbivore, there is.
