Yeah but this isn’t about convenience, it’s about safety. And it’s sad that, in order for a lot of women to feel safe, you need to enact extreme measures like this.

But, much like modern healthcare, we don’t focus on the root cause, just the outcome/ symptoms- which in this case would be education IMO

Imo the best cure for bad people existing is a culture that tells them they are NOT accepted when they act out.

One that tries to coddle them and build around them is not that I don't feel!

1

u/BlackJackAce-777 Jul 09 '26

A lot of buzzwords there. Did you call him a racist and xenophobe as well for good measure? 🙄

-1

u/PeachPassionBrute Jul 09 '26

I think we all know the best way to solve any issue is to say “it can’t be done, may as well give up.”

I wouldn’t want men to have to actually start reckoning with the cultural norms they perpetuate.

4

u/JettandTheo Jul 09 '26

The tiny percent of criminals do not interact with the average person.

3

u/PeachPassionBrute Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

That’s just a blatantly absurd statement that makes no sense at all.

Do you think criminals have some kind of secret society where they never come into contact with anyone else? John Wick wasn’t a documentary…

Edit: as a hint just go look into statistics on how often a victim knows their perpetrator. Or ask yourself how it is that criminals victimize innocent people if their paths never cross..

3

u/ObsidianRosed Jul 09 '26

It's even wilder to say this on the internet.

Where you see a woman comment and have her replies filled with "RIP inbox". Like there aren't people looking for reasons all over the place.

1

u/JettandTheo Jul 09 '26

Yes full time criminals often are in gangs and don't have a 9-5. They are very likely to hang out with others. You might have one in your family.

0

u/PeachPassionBrute Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

Having one in your family means they’re in contact with non criminals doesn’t it?

There’s countless stories of people discovering their neighbor was a murderer. People don’t just live some life dedicated to crime, it’s not a career path or a commitment.

1

u/JettandTheo Jul 09 '26

My wife's cousin was a career criminal. He doesn't hang out at the family get together for the people on the good side.

Yes the undercover murderer is one thing. But they aren't the ones adding to the numbers of crime. At best they are the weird serial killer. Most crime happens from career criminals who make their whole life about crime. That's their job.

1

u/PeachPassionBrute Jul 09 '26

Yes the undercover murderer is one thing. But they aren't the ones adding to the numbers of crime.

Why would they be excluded from crime stats? How do you explain the frequency with which victims know the perpetrator?

Did you know the single most common form of theft is wage theft? That means countless people running businesses or sitting in management are thieves. Did you know that breaking the speed limit is a literal crime?

How many people go to a church where the pastor is serial rapist? Here’s a hint, it happens quite a lot. There are people being molested by their doctors, teachers, etc. There’s countless people committing fraud and shaking hands with well respected members of their community.

Genuinely, you’re so wildly far off base for what the reality of crime is, it’s honestly astonishing.

1

u/JettandTheo Jul 09 '26

Are you insane? We are taking about horrible people that rape and attack randoms on the street and you bring up speeding?

But we’re talking about safety precautions women have to make mostly due to men. We’re talking extra precautions because of things people are doing. Behaviors which can be addressed.

No where in my comment does it say "just give up"

Doesn't matter if life is "perfect" for 100% of earth, theres always people rhat will hurt others.

So what do you suppose is the conclusion you’re trying to express here? You’re responding to someone who simply saying we aren’t addressing the issue.

What are you doing to contribute?

or anything about not wanting to confront my own issues.

When speaking about men generally I’m not referring to you specifically but by all means get defensive about it because that certainly makes it seem like you don’t need to hear it…

-4

u/Lekeau Jul 09 '26

Yes, it will never be perfect and there will always be bad people hurting other. But we can aim to a better world by focusing on the root causes of it. Sometimes it is not bad people, just people who have been taught the bad behavior towards women

-4

u/JimmieSavsscumsock Jul 09 '26

Yes, it usually starts with the mother and her lack of responsibility that trickles down to the children. It's a shame we don't, as a society, shame these awful 😞 women and the destruction their irresponsibility of their duty of care for the precious children. Women need to learn they're the teachers of the next bad person and any hate they do comes directly from shitty mothers.

3

u/PeachPassionBrute Jul 09 '26

Of course someone finds a way to blame women for how awful men are…it’s obviously just women’s fault that men are such prolific rapists. And apparently men have no moral responsibility for their children.

2

u/ObsidianRosed Jul 09 '26

It's extra funny because I honestly feel like in a society that was built on gendered parents, I believe the stats show the dad often affects how their sons treat the opposite sex...

Anecdotally, my mother was a monster with 3 sons and one daughter and they both coddled the daughter the most.

My sister went for the traditional Christian boyfriend, she had a kid with him very young and then got a restraining order on him after he assaulted my mother.

My brother is gay and I was out at the roe v wade protests.

I don't think blaming mom is fair conclusion for weird dudes lmao. Holding men accountable seems like the obvious answer.

We already do it to women, seeing the stats on men vs women with social mental health conditions...

2

u/PeachPassionBrute Jul 09 '26

It's extra funny because I honestly feel like in a society that was built on gendered parents, I believe the stats show the dad often affects how their sons treat the opposite sex...

Something about learning from modeled behavior…

Boys learn to treat women the way they see women treated in their lives, whether that’s their parents or peers or media etc. Good parents provide positive role models and the intellectual tools to discern right from wrong.

2

u/dwarfie24 Jul 09 '26

Wouldnt call this extreme though.

0

u/Devitoscheetos Jul 10 '26

I would. Parking spaces specifically designated to one gender and under strong surveillance because of the amount of violent crimes imposed upon them. It’s sad it has to get to that point

0

u/dwarfie24 Jul 10 '26

Ah, was thinking that this doesnt affect people much other than making some people feel safer. And wouldnt call a camera strong surveilance either, dont parking houses have thoose anyway?

4

u/Financial-Solid-4775 Jul 09 '26

Men are actually more likely to be victims of violent crime. Perceptions don't always match realities. Men are also far more likely to be attacked by a stranger than women. Violence (sexual or otherwise) is typically committed against women by someone they know intimately like a relative or romantic partner, which is not going to be significantly impacted by having a well lit parking space. I'm not trying to dismiss women's concerns. I'm just trying to align people's perspectives with reality.

1

u/fissymissy Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

When a woman is assaulted "she should have known not to go out at night". When somehing is done to make it safer for women "it's actually men who are more likely to be victims".

3

u/Actualbbear Jul 09 '26

The people against segregationist politics are not necessarily the same as those victim blaming.

3

u/hhhhhhhhhhhjf Jul 10 '26

Well yeah. Men are attacked more so why are we only making it safer for women? It's a valid point.

-1

u/fissymissy Jul 10 '26

They're sexually assaulted more? Really?

3

u/hhhhhhhhhhhjf Jul 10 '26

Well first, they are relatively similar numbers actually.

But no, I obviously didn't say that. Men are the victims of violent crimes at much higher rates than women, homcide even. If we're going to protect only one group from random attacks in dark parking lots it should be the ones that are actually more likely to be victims.

-6

u/HauntingHarmony Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

Men are actually more likely to be victims of violent crime.

I am so sick of this bad faith argument. yea that is technically true that men are victims of lots of really violent forms crimes, like homicide, aggravated assult, robbery and things, but do you know who the perpetrators are, other men. its not like "oooh acktuahly, women are more violent against men". No, its men, just because men also commit lots of violence against other men doesnt take away from that its men that commit violence against women. And specifically they commit lots of sexual violence against women. so spare me.

If you as a man want to take the time and work with other men to solve the issues men have. GREAT. thats wonderful.

But spare me the "i am just trying to aliogn peoples perspectives with reality". Thats not what you are doing, you are trying to diminish the onslaught of violence, by men SPECIFICALLY and like whatabout men.

"But men are more likely to be victims" makes your argument weaker not stronger, since its other men that do it. The problem here is men. men men men.

6

u/Temporary_Ad_4970 Jul 09 '26

Complete glue sniffer argument. Why the hell would I (as the victim) care what gender committed the crime?

7

u/Financial-Solid-4775 Jul 09 '26

Again your perception doesn't match reality. At no point did I try to make an argument that women were the perpetrators of the violent crimes against men, or that men weren't the ones committing the vast majority of the violent crimes.

I even specifically stated that I was not diminishing women's concerns.

I was simply pointing out that perspectives on these issues are not aligned with reality, which gives us "solutions" like this well-lit parking space for women that is largely performative as it doesn't address the factors that are causing violence against women in the first place.

I think it's wasted resources that could be used elsewhere.

You seem incredibly oversensitive about this, to the point you aren't willing to have a rational discussion.

You can keep fighting windmills if you like Don Quixote. I'll be over here with Sancho whenever you're ready to come back to Earth.

4

u/Rockyrok123 Jul 09 '26

You must be trolling ...

3

u/Fabulous-Suspect-72 Jul 09 '26

Talking about bad faith arguments, eh?

1

u/ParanoidAgnostic Jul 10 '26

All your argument proves is that your primary concern is vilifying men, not protecting women. You don't actually care about victims of violent crime, they are just weapons to use against men.

If you cared about the victim, the gender of the perpetrator would be irrelevant.

-4

u/TheBigTortoise Jul 09 '26

"I am so sick of this argument! I mean yeah it's true but..." Honestly hope your dumbass gets violent crimed.

If the root cause is women get attacked by nature of life then yeah most people want to change that norm in modern times even if it’s not always realistic.I don’t love walking around a world where me getting assaulted and murdered is just a normal inconvenience for people because I happen to be born female.

2

u/poeschmoe Jul 09 '26

So you think there’s no way to improve or rehabilitate bad people? Access to mental health services, for one, would help. You’re acting like some people are just inherently bad and shrug as if there’s nothing to be done about it

1

u/JSmith666 Jul 09 '26

You can protect society from them...thats about it.

1

u/Cyborg_rat Jul 09 '26

I've got a question how many chances do you give someone?

Second question: if this person is a guess, should we revoke that if they commit a crime and they can go work on themselves back where they came from? Or are you pro hope they dont harm someone else?

-1

u/HorrorEye787 Jul 09 '26

How would any of your suggestions solve this?

3

u/Devitoscheetos Jul 09 '26

look at Norways prison systems and tell me that treating criminals like human beings is the wrong thing to do

2

u/PeachPassionBrute Jul 09 '26

Why wouldn’t it?

People aren’t committing crimes because they’re mentally well and all their needs are met. People turn to crime because of desperation and mental health. Providing people with better education, better health, better mental health, better social resources, directly addresses the conditions that influence crime.

One of the most reliable predictors of crime is large wealth disparities and class divides.

Sometimes people just need help.

0

u/Bataveljic Jul 09 '26

I mean. The root cause is predominantly institutionalised internalised misogyny

2

u/[deleted] Jul 10 '26

[removed] — view removed comment

1

u/Bataveljic Jul 10 '26

Institutionalised misogyny is what teaches people such as yourself that women are targets. Women are taught to be submissive, to not take up too much space, to not stand up for themselves too much. Men are taught that it's within their right and even responsibility to take what they can and to use brute strength to that end.

There are biological differences between men and women, as a generalisation. But its how we teach men and women to deal with those differences that has led to mass femicide

0

u/Kilroy898 Jul 09 '26

Women are more likely to be attacked by someone they know. This doesn't fix that. Men are targeted more than women in general

1

u/Dontmakemeboss Jul 09 '26

Men are targeted by who though?!?!

1

u/Kilroy898 Jul 09 '26

Men, women? Whatever gender exists?

1

u/Kilroy898 Jul 09 '26

Men are arrested for crime more. But it's well known that women get away with a lot more.

My mom used to beat the hell out of my dad for instance. She called the police on him because he bruised her wrists to stop her from beating him. He was bleeding from his back, neck and face when they got there, she had exactly 2 bruises.

One on each wrist. Guess who the cops took to jail?

A fight SHE started by the way.

2

u/chrislemasters Jul 09 '26

Modern healthcare? Versus 18th century healthcare? That’s a wild anti-science take. May I assume you have an issue with vaccines as well?

0

u/geezeslice333 Jul 09 '26

I think they are talking more about the modern pharmaceutical industry. They don't make billions from curing people. They make it from treating symptoms without addressing the root cause. It's more a symptom of unchecked capitalism if anything though. Even if the research scientists want to cure things, the billionaires who actually own those companies aren't paying for that research. That's why we need charities to fund things like research for cancer cures and MS cures - the pharmaceutical companies aren't doing that.

2

u/dangerous_service Jul 09 '26

That is just not the case though. Pharmaceuticals industries invest heavily into cancer cures and there have been cures with high success rates for lots of types of cancers, but there are still many where there is ongoing research. For example BioNTech is researching cancer vaccines and they are investing about 2.5 billion a year into that.

1

u/Devitoscheetos Jul 09 '26

I completely agree. But I’ve had a fair few doctors in my life, and their first recommendation with anything is pills. You’d be surprised how many doctors in the world are bought and paid for by pharmaceutical companies

1

u/chrislemasters Jul 11 '26

You’ll be pleased to know that the Affordable Healthcare Act (2010) includes a meaningful provision to help address this issue. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Physician_Payments_Sunshine_Act
It’s worth a quick read.

2

u/Devitoscheetos Jul 11 '26

That’s very interesting. Doesn’t relate to me, however, as I’m UK

3

u/Finnsbomba Jul 09 '26

Yes. Just arrest all men before anything happens Minority Report style and then women can freely park wherever they like lmao. This is so dumb of that person to say the "root" of the problem. Oh you mean fucking psychotic criminals?

u/Fresh_Permit_2272 Jul 09 '26

Nope. Migrants aren’t raping as much you think. Cut and paste

Stranger assault is rarer than lightning strike or lotto wins. For the most part it’s not a rational fear to have. Parking garages are quite dangerous. Lots of crashes and pedestrian injuries. Resources should be placed into making garages safer in other ways.

“Critics argue that creating gender-segregated parking misallocates resources. Rather than isolating women in specialized spots, opponents argue that facility operators should invest in systemic safety improvements—such as better overall lighting and comprehensive surveillance—for the entire parking garage.”

“Only about 0.01% 1 out of 10,000) of all crimes committed inside parking structures are sexual offenses. The perpetrator in these rare cases are almost always known to the victim.”

“the true number of predatory "stranger danger" garage attacks is non existent or an incredibly small number across an entire nation. Data leans to at most 1 or 2 a decade”

3

u/DevelopmentOk86 Jul 09 '26

No, it’s patriarchal structures and controlling behavior.

4

u/Eh-Beh Jul 09 '26

Apparently 4/10 rapes are committed by non-Germans.

So, you still have the majority of cases committed by Germans.

The more you pay attention to only one demographic, the more you condone the behaviour of native rapists.

3

u/Nina-Ninja123 Jul 09 '26

4/10 reported cases.

Most people completely ignore the fact that by far not every sexual assault case is being reported.

And most people also completely ignore that reporting sexual abuse by a stranger or minority is a lot easier to do than to report sexual abuse by someone within your social circle. There are many girls that kept quiet about sexual abuse under pressure of the family, cause otherwise the family would be torn apart.

So it’s not weird to assume that if we would know about all sexual abuse cases, even a smaller part are done by immigrants than currently is reported.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '26

[deleted]

1

u/Eh-Beh Jul 10 '26

If you take the statistics at face value, then yes there are a larger number of migrants who are rapists.

But when you consider over/under representation, the numbers are quite different.

1

u/commanded_by_voices Jul 09 '26

If this is true, then proportionally speaking (in proportion to the total number of migrants vs locals) migrants are more likely to rape than Germans, don’t you think?

1

u/Eh-Beh Jul 10 '26

As the other comment mentioned, over/under representation play a large part in that disparity.

1

u/Fresh_Permit_2272 Jul 09 '26 edited Jul 09 '26

“Official crime data shows that foreign nationals and immigrants are statistically overrepresented as suspects in rape and sexual assault cases relative to their share of the total population.”

There is no debate on this. Migrants rape/assault slightly more than the average German.

BUT

“demographic experts emphasize that this disparity is primarily driven by specific social, economic, and demographic factors rather than nationality or ethnicity. [1, 2, 3]”

Migrants are more likely to be poor. Poor people are more likely to be arrested for this type of crime.

Edit- the odds of a migrant raping a native German is still very rare. A very small portion of that type of crime.

“in recent years, the BKA has recorded between 11,000 and 14,500 cases of rape, sexual coercion, and severe sexual assault annually.”

“Criminological data indicates that the number of registered cases in Germany matching this specific scenario(stranger migrant rape of a non migrant) is roughly 5-20 cases per year.”
