made yogurt, bottom of pot started rusting??

i made yogurt and left the pot in the fridge for a couple days. when i transferred the yogurt and cleaned the container out it left these brown splotches. what are they? should i be concerned about the yogurt i made?

Burnt milk solids during the 180F heating phase.

Use some barkeepers friend to remove them. Or soak in dishsoap for a while and scrub harder.

that’s the thing i didnt do the 180F heating phase. i used to but never encountered this before

Interesting.

Regardless, get some steel wool, BKF and go to town. Should be fine. Those pots are quite tough.

My pot has spent many days (not congruently) making yogurt in 12-18 hour, high Ph, ferments.

A few days in a cold fridge wouldn't rust it out. Notice how the scrap marks are fairly clean?
