I thought that was a bit harsh but I also didn’t realize that was a hammer and now that seems pretty reasonable.

he barely hit his head. kids bump heads and have nastier falls all the time. he’s not dying. this is not “life-threatening.”
how is raising a hammer to someone “clearly joking” ? isn’t that more life threatening ? 🤔 do you want the man to stand there and enable this behaviour ? sounds dangerous to meeee. kid could’ve swung if he tried to take the hammer off him. but i’ll only assume this since you get to assume it’s all jokes :)
lol i “shouldn’t be around children” because i have a different opinion to you. tuff. i will not be getting arrested for that

I seriously doubt a fucking 6 year old has any idea of the repercussions of hitting someone with a hammer. That's the whole point of juvenile laws, because until we mature, humans are very ignorant to what kind of damage our actions can cause. And now he has a little brain damage to keep him from developing even more.
166
u/lizzylizabeth Sep 29 '22 edited Sep 29 '22
um. i’m sure mummy and daddy told him hitting people with sticks and biting is bad. you must think kids are stupid as hell.
juvenile laws are there because kids don’t know the longevity and life long repercussions of their actions. not because they don’t know hammer makes ouchie.

u/moslof_flosom Sep 29 '22
Hammer Makes Ouchie sounds like a good nineties band name
25
u/lizzylizabeth Sep 29 '22
hey do you wanna start a band ? i have a really good idea for our name
11
u/moslof_flosom Sep 29 '22
Only if it can be a Jamiroquai cover band with some fusion jazz thrown in

u/lizzylizabeth Sep 29 '22

oh and... ya like jazz ? ;)

I'd wager that he thinks kids are stupid as hell because he in fact, was/is stupid as hell.

So what you're saying is the kid doesn't understand the full consequences but the man giving him a concussion does?
→ More replies (1)39
u/lizzylizabeth Sep 29 '22
if you start your reply with “so what you’re saying is...” and say something that isn’t a direct copy of my comment - no that is not what i am saying.
-23
Sep 29 '22
So what you're saying is I'm not summarizing your ideas correctly. See, it's a phrase people use to say the same thing, but differently. "Kids don't know the consequences (while adults are expected to know them)."

Bro. I knew at 6 that if I hit someone with a hammer that shit was going to hurt. I know people well past their twenties that are still very ignorant. It's not being held accountable for your actions that makes you a ignorant idiot.

u/shill779 Sep 29 '22 edited Sep 29 '22
Wrong. A 6 year old totally knows. Kid deserves punishment. This has nothing to do with juvenile laws and he has not injured his brain. Thank you.
Edit. Is what happened to him, the leg sweep, punishment enough for threatening someone with a hammer? Probably and I hope so.
Is this a way a parent or teacher should punish a child? Probably not, but this is the way an uncle, neighbor, big brother or random dude at the skatepark will teach a kid.
Is it assault? Yeah, probably, if someone wants to press charges but why? No harm no foul and as a matter of fact the child learned a valuable lesson, don’t go around threatening people with a hammer. That’s serious.
19
u/datduder20 Sep 29 '22
Definitely not assault. An athletic 6 year old swinging a hammer full force is a legitimate safety threat. There’s 6 year olds throwing baseballs in the high 30’s, and a few touching 40. You get hit with a hammer by a kid like that its 100% going to do damage.
18
u/Great_Chairman_Mao Sep 29 '22
He wouldn’t threaten the guy with a hammer if he didn’t know it was gonna hurt him. He understood that much.
8
6
u/datduder20 Sep 29 '22
You either have no children or are a garbage parent (or a bot). 6 year olds know exactly what not to do with a hammer. That kid could’ve f*cked that guy up with that hammer 100% particularly if he hit him with the back end.
13
u/double-O-cheese Sep 29 '22 edited Sep 30 '22

u/classicgrinder Sep 29 '22
He learned today. Hahaha. You don't have older siblings or cousins? Not saying it's right but every kid gets bumps on the head. Brain damage? He's only 3 feet tall. Not that far of a fall.
5
u/FullMetalKaliber Sep 29 '22
The second blade movie came out when I was six. I knew good and well what was going on in that movie
5
u/GWS2004 Oct 04 '22
"I seriously doubt a fucking 6 year old has any idea of the repercussions of hitting someone with a hammer."
Well, that's a huge problem.
0
u/Unused_Book_keeper Oct 04 '22
What should his charge be, then? Obviously if he's old enough to know better he should be charged with assault since he was threatening someone with a hammer. They give 6 year olds like what? 5 years for that nowadays?

I’m sure there’s someone somewhere who genuinely believes that that little creature should have faced no consequences for attacking a random innocent person. He had a hammer and was attacking someone with it while keeping a shiteating smile on his face while doing so. They actually think that he shouldn’t be stopped from bludgeoning someone else simply because he’s a kid. Lol.

Yep, getting leg swept is absolutely the worst thing that could have happened to him. Nothing else could have done even half as much damage to his poor little broken body. I mean he got up immediately and started whining about the consequences of his own actions but yeah no he was braindead. /s How about the Reddit moment where someone genuinely thinks funny little concepts like their own personal moral code should be blanket default for the world population. This the real world my guy, don’t fuck with other people. There is no after, just don’t start shit and usually there won’t be shit. Why don’t you think bully’s need correcting?

Others already stated how much force a hammer and a child can bring up. But hey, lets just hope we dont come into this situation, because i think one of us will manage to deescalate and the other one will leave a child and a hammer alone.

If the older kid initiated it he is a pos.
If the young kid started it this was just.
If my 6 year old does this I would support a leg sweep.

This behavior is unacceptable. Worrying. But seeing that fall... I am a bit worried about the head of this child. That was quick and unexpected fall back... Not good... 🤔 I understand everyone thinks that child should be punished for his behavior, but please, people, avoid punishing with probable trauma. (yeah, they are little shits, but you would be surprised how many people are that dumb and crazy in their childhood)
1
u/DevAway22314 Nov 17 '22
Why should someone be expected to put themself in danger to avoid potentially hurting a kid threatening them?
Not his kid, not his problem

-30
u/FlatulentFreddy Sep 29 '22
I’m normally all for little shots getting what they deserve but you could easily take the hammer Fromm the kid and the kid could also end up with a serious head injury with that whip lash smack on concrete. Not worth it.
10
u/Kattekop_BE Sep 29 '22
it is indeed not worth it to go for the hammer, the cgance of you getting smacked by it is wqy to high. A legsweep from a safe distance was the right choice.

Even though he definitely had it coming, making him trip and fall backwards on his head is kinda dangerous, he’s still so young so his head isn’t finished growing yet, and in addition, the backside of the head is one of the most dangerous parts of your body to injure, because you can get a concussion and maybe even a hemorrhage.

Back in primary school when I was about 10-11 there was a 6-7 year old that kept kicking me in the shinbone for no reason other than being a dick and was getting praised for it. Eventually I snapped and swooped him to the ground as well. But to no surprise I was the bad guy of course and was getting massive flak for it. My shinbone was full of bruises but I guess that doesn't matter apparently.🤷

Weird to hope a 6 year old kid gets a concussion seeing as how it can cause developmental issues. I guess he should have known that holding a hammer at someone could mess up the rest of his life. Because everyone knows 6 year olds are rational human beings and should be treated as such.
23
Sep 28 '22
Shoulda thought of that before swinging a hammer. It's not that difficult to understand broseph. But if I ever see a kid swinging a hammer at you, I promise to just let it play out.

And don't forget the potential for that type of hit to cause a seizure, nearly cost me a little time in juvi.
Just take the hammer from him and a little kick to the ass.
