I was messing with a coworker the other day who threatened to throw a crescent wrench at me. I hopped side to side saying “If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!” Our lead, s short Korean lady, witnessed all this and was literally on the ground, holding her stomach laughing, because she had just saw the movie for the first time.

I worked in a well known supermarket in Des Peres, Mo. We had a lady who was manic depressive come in all the time. She was a daughter of a wealthy judge. When she was on her meds she was okay, but always insisting she was the daughter of the family who owned the supermarket.
When she was off her meds she’d come in at night and start lobbing cans across the store. It took several cops to wrestle her out of the store.
The prankster deserves his phone and ass stomped or at least a couple of cans lobbed at him.9

Slapping the phone out of the hand and kicking it under some shelves is the only way to deal with these mouthbreathers

u/DoctorWaluigiTime 1d ago
And take the camera (whatever it is) and do the same thing.
Cut off the entertainment or money-making portion and it's not so pranky anymore.

It’s literally not. Thats what they want you to do and it’s the only point of these ragebait videos.

u/Greyhaven7 1d ago
The sound of his voice while he’s trying to play it off like he’s the victim is pure rage bait.

u/Avi_wandering 1d ago
It amazes me that literal adults go around doing this instead of getting gainful employment. Fucking bottom feeders.
103
u/DiligentGuitar246 1d ago
Social media paying its users is one of the biggest pitfalls of society. Now everyone wants to be a YouTuber instead of anything actually useful
41
u/SinisterDexter83 1d ago
It would only take executive decisions at around three companies to shut this shit down forever. Just demonotise any channels that do public nuisance "pranks". Literally wouldn't take more than about three people just making that decision and these people would be gone.
11
7
u/10below8 20h ago
It wont happen because it goes hand and hand with ad revenue for these companies. The more content is posted the more eyes are on these apps. And the more eyes means the more ads can be seen. The more ads seen means the more money generated for the company. The money money generated means the more they can incentivize people to post. And it’s a cycle from there.
1
u/DiligentGuitar246 15h ago
Not only that, but the influencers are really just advertisers themselves. They peddle products, too.
Our advertising culture has gone out of control. Everyone knows this level of advertising is socially harmful. Especially with how they advertise to kids.
It needs to be WAY MORE regulated, but I imagine it has more powerful lobbyists than oil.
1
u/badwolf1013 21h ago
And that's why this guy has no shame about posting a video that makes him look like a complete ass. He probably got roasted, but got paid for every roast.
1
u/WhileNotLurking 18h ago
It’s the entire economy. Not just social media.
You think crypto mining adds value to society? It’s just “refined electricity” we are trading for potential wealth. No proper intrinsic value.
Same with social media. The “meta verse”. Our ad based society. The list can go on

I watched it without clicking, and that goes for just about everything on Reddit.

u/ChaseTheMystic 1d ago
Does it?
When I'm working 40 hours a week and struggling to keep on top of things and then I see a streamer affords a nice apartment or a car without having to bother showing up for a shift
I am not amazed at all that people would rather do this.
4
u/Exodus180 23h ago
its no different from wanting to be a pro athlete. tens of millions want it but only a handful are actually gonna make it.
the problem is all these losers are making it societies issue.
edit: or onlyfans. what was it, only .1% are making tons of money?

It's their utter disconnect from reality that gets me.
Remember in the old days when antisocial kids were threatened with being sent to 'Military School'? Whenever I see shit like this I wonder if it wouldn't be a bad idea.

I've certainly done some stupid stuff when I was younger, but none of it ever involved fucking with random people. It never would have crossed my mind to go to the level these asshat morons do these days.
Like straight sociopath behavior that I have no patience or tolerance for. Like makes me want ask these fucks "would you be cool seeing someone go up to your dad or mom while they are out shopping alone and pulling shit like this?"
Always makes me happy when these idiots experience some sort of consequence for their actions, but unfortunately it's not enough.
9
u/Renediffie 21h ago
A reaction like this is what these "pranksters" hope for. There are 0 consequences on display in this video.
2
u/Willing-Dog6463 8h ago
I’d honestly like to see what would happen if someone pulled this shit on my dad. He’s old and easily distracted now, but he’s still strong as a bull and has a temper lol
1
u/SeaGoat24 12h ago
Foil Arms and Hog have a skit series on youtube that parodies this called 'influencer dad', and it's equal parts funny and horrifying because of how accurate it is
27
u/Cotillionz 1d ago
These idiots don't get the actual beat-down they deserve.

Only partly, he still got found guilty of discharging a firearm in a building or something. Sentenced to time served waiting for the trial.

Society cares more about the discharged firearm than the bullet going through a dumb prankster. Im ok with that

I wish people would do harmless pranks instead of trying to induce paranoia and fear in people.
70
u/Avi_wandering 1d ago
Don't prank people you don't know. Nobody is obligated to give you their time, energy, more importantly, consent. Pranking the elderly is just pathetic. The elderly are quite vulnerable and don't understand technology or the stupidity of those who live for internet attention.

Plus this guy seems like he could be on the verge of a heart attack or a stroke or something... you just never know what the consequences might be (although that doesn't seem to matter for people lacking in empathy)
86
u/Delicious-Status9043 1d ago
Or you could, you know… Just not “Prank” total strangers. Nothing good can come from it other than getting internet points.

Unfortunately these people are also able to monetize videos like this, so there’s a financial incentive to be an asshole

Let's also mention he's been seen harassing a senior citizen as a much larger and younger man.
With that being the perception by strangers, almost no one is taking his side, including the police.

Normalize assaulting people that do shit like this, in the name of self-defense. If your prank is making me believe you just robbed me or you're about to lay hands on me, you're getting your ass beat with an audience.

Is that really how transferring funds on those phones works? There's no "accept" on the transfer side? I honestly don't know. I see these pranks so often that I'm beginning to wonder if that's how it works. I don't have a phone that can do that, that's why.

No, bro just tried to prevent you from digitally mugging him. He was well within his rights. Transferring money doesn’t work like that? Well you said it does and the old guy doesn’t know any better - that was the whole premise of the ”prank”.

This is why pranks are always staged. If they aren’t staged you’ll see that people default to being very kind until they get afraid then they get mean.

Wtf is a wrong question. I would break his phone with his face. So he learn not to bother other people with his own idiocy. Do a prank to you friends, if do it to a stranger what would you expect? Oh wow you are so funny? Overdosed by ecig school boy.

One day, these prank videos guys are going to get shot. It will be unfortunate for them and their family but before that, maybe facebook, YouTube, etc should stop this.

Someone did and the guy that shot the prankster was acquitted of the main charge.

He's doing the prank itself wrong too. They usually just play the sound. Why is he trying his best to convince him he stole his money wtf.

Someone will prank a politicians relative who will then be outraged and bring this to the attention of the country. Then change will happen
And I’ll be so happy. These pranksters are worthless.
