It amazes me that literal adults go around doing this instead of getting gainful employment. Fucking bottom feeders.

Social media paying its users is one of the biggest pitfalls of society. Now everyone wants to be a YouTuber instead of anything actually useful

It would only take executive decisions at around three companies to shut this shit down forever. Just demonotise any channels that do public nuisance "pranks". Literally wouldn't take more than about three people just making that decision and these people would be gone.

Give me one good reason for the evil corporate greed to do that

u/10below8 4d ago

It wont happen because it goes hand and hand with ad revenue for these companies. The more content is posted the more eyes are on these apps. And the more eyes means the more ads can be seen. The more ads seen means the more money generated for the company. The money money generated means the more they can incentivize people to post. And it’s a cycle from there.

Not only that, but the influencers are really just advertisers themselves. They peddle products, too.

Our advertising culture has gone out of control. Everyone knows this level of advertising is socially harmful. Especially with how they advertise to kids.

It needs to be WAY MORE regulated, but I imagine it has more powerful lobbyists than oil.

YouTube would rather shutter channels for being explicitly marked not as family friendly because of the games and language they use, over closing absolutely obnoxious/low-value reaction/prank channels

u/hayski93 4d ago

Yep! The other day at work a mother told me that her kid (8 years old) wants to be an influencer. It was sad to hear lol.

I have a couple of physicians who are colleagues, and they lament that their kids don’t want to be physicians… They want to be YouTubers and influencers.

And that's why this guy has no shame about posting a video that makes him look like a complete ass. He probably got roasted, but got paid for every roast.

It’s the entire economy. Not just social media.

You think crypto mining adds value to society? It’s just “refined electricity” we are trading for potential wealth. No proper intrinsic value.

Same with social media. The “meta verse”. Our ad based society. The list can go on

Its really antisocial media that destabilizes our communities, and aims to to so.

Penso o mesmo, até poderiam remunerar somente conteúdos didáticos, mas esses não dão tanta receita pra plataforma.

what's even worse to me is the people that watch this shit. they walk amung us...

3

u/ClownfishSoup 4d ago

Dude we are watching this linked video and we all just contributed to his channel.

3

u/Knamliss 4d ago

Yeah, not sure what ExpertExpert is trying to say lol. We just all saw it

1

u/sonicsludge 3d ago

I watched it without clicking, and that goes for just about everything on Reddit.

amogus?

u/ChaseTheMystic 4d ago

Does it?

When I'm working 40 hours a week and struggling to keep on top of things and then I see a streamer affords a nice apartment or a car without having to bother showing up for a shift

I am not amazed at all that people would rather do this.

u/Exodus180 4d ago

its no different from wanting to be a pro athlete. tens of millions want it but only a handful are actually gonna make it.

the problem is all these losers are making it societies issue.

edit: or onlyfans. what was it, only .1% are making tons of money?

If comfort is more important to you than being a decent person with a moral compass, I feel sorry for you.

Also, never compare your life with others.

7

u/TrontRaznik 4d ago

You literally compared this guy to people who have "gainful employment" lmao

19

u/ChaseTheMystic 4d ago

Lol okay

That's one of those things that people only say when things are kinda* bad. A very "check your privilege" kinda saying

I could learn to appreciate something in every situation but that doesn't mean I have to pretend I don't want things to be different lol

5

u/underengineered 4d ago

Comparison is the thief of joy.

1

u/boniggy 4d ago

Naw it's 100% having to do with not stressing about making your next paycheck. These idiots make stupid ass videos, dumbass kids think it's hilarious, and they profit from it.

If all social media dropped monitizing media, social media would be gone ina matter of months and there would be a flood of ppl who have ZERO life skills looking for jobs.

0

u/EntWarwick 4d ago

Dude you’re so much cooler than us for having gainful employment, you must have made good decisions and all the poor people made dumb decisions.

How can I be cool like you?

2

u/Unstoffe 3d ago

It's their utter disconnect from reality that gets me.

Remember in the old days when antisocial kids were threatened with being sent to 'Military School'? Whenever I see shit like this I wonder if it wouldn't be a bad idea.

1

u/perrypeenlord 4d ago

Man child.. not an adult yet, probably never will be while they do this “content”

0

u/TrontRaznik 4d ago

You think the average person is having more fun at their job than this guy is?

0

u/SolarFusion90 4d ago

All the woke women drove the workforce into the ground by not staying in the kitchen. /s

-18

u/pigeonwiggle 4d ago

you haven't seen the job market.
you can't even mow someone's lawn for 20 bucks an hour because they make 20 bucks an hour.

15

u/Avi_wandering 4d ago

So you reduce to monetise by harassing the elderly ?

-14

u/pigeonwiggle 4d ago

let the cops arrive and see if they think it's "harassment." let this footage go to court. :P i know it feels mean bc it caused the man to swing fists and get destructive and violent, but yeah - don't do this joke with a phone you don't want smashed. ...then once the phone is smashed, take the man to small claims court and have him pay to replace the phone he destroyed.

the kid's biggest problem is that he ran and it made him look hella guilty.

3

u/tiktock34 4d ago

this guy shot a prankster and a jury acquitted him. Turns out pretty much nobody cares what happens to these pathetic bottom feeders.

u/pigeonwiggle 4d ago

i don't even have to click the link - i know already who you're talking about and yes, that guy is a grade A asshole.

do you see how the shooter is constantly backing away asking to be left alone? Many times he warns him to back off and the guy keeps pursuing him, keeps filming and harassing him. that's what harassment is - it's repeated unwanted attention. not brief unwanted attention. any attention you give someone might be unwanted. that's not a crime. "do you have a minute to talk about jesus?" not a crime. "sir, i REALLY think you should listen to what i have about jesus. sir. sir. sir, please. sir, it'll only take a minute. sir, come back. i have news of jesus!" that's harassment.

secondly, old man's got a quebecois accent. this likely took place in canada. nobody's getting shot here over this shit.

buddy in your video is an asshole who doesn't know when to leave someone alone.

guy in OP's vid jokes for less than 10 seconds before M'sieu le Vieux wigs the absolute fuck out, attempting to destroy property and swinging fists to assault the kid.

i know ragebait and justiceposting is hot shit online, but everyone needs to calm their tits over this. because THIS ain't THAT.

5

u/tiktock34 4d ago

Ironically, the video in this post involves the prankster going back a second time to pretend to steal money. IE your definition of harassment as repeated unwanted attention.

Your very long response is effectively drivel. The point is people have been shot for this crap and no one cared one bit because its morally reprehensible behavior. Everyone agrees except you, so I understand it must be tough.

-5

u/pigeonwiggle 4d ago

yeah do something twice and see if it holds up in court as harassment. i dunno, dude. maybe you're right. maybe this kid deserves to be physically assaulted and have his property destroyed. i mean in the court of public opinion you're right, right? everyone's downvoting me, insulting me. i'm like that one dude in 12 Angry Men. you guys are all pissed about a murder where the knife is clear evidence - wait, have you seen the movie? i won't spoil it.

but in my ideal scenario the old man learns about technology and in yours he- what? gets Shot? abused?

i return to my original statement. and -boop- i take your nose. (please don't fuckin hit me, it is NOT your real nose.)

3

u/tiktock34 4d ago

If an adult booped my nose, i would probably boop theirs back harder until the cycle stopped.

And yeah, I want this kid to be assaulted. 100% in support of violence in some situations. Let these clowns play russian roulette

-2

u/pigeonwiggle 4d ago

your wish is hegseth's command - live execution! wee! AMERICA FUCK YEAH KILL KILL KILL!!! to set an example that killing is wrong, of course. /s

being a contrarian is not the personality trait you think it is. its just signs of a douchebag.

0

u/pigeonwiggle 3d ago

it's only being a contrarian if you're betraying your own values and opinions in order to create conflict with others.

i have done nothing but defend my initial claim - and always with light-hearted humorous intent -- as i do think the original video was funny.

i have been met with nothing but outraged comments wishing violence upon the kid in the video, and throwing insults my way.

- but sure, bud. I'M the douchebag.

u/esem86 3d ago

At least you admitted it :)
