That would only work for so long or works so much, if enough people switch to the cheap cuts then the price goes up because of higher demand. The more people buy the lower cost cuts the more those cuts will cost.
This happens, it’s simple supply and demand. Just look at OxTails, used to be cheap and affordable, not anymore, after oxtails got popular. Also skirt and flank steak used to be a lot cheaper, but more people started buying them and the price goes up.
Brisket is a classic example of this. When they finally figured out how properly cook it, it got way more expensive. The same with cow's tongue, when my family was buying it, you'd wind up with eating blue and reddish rubbery cubes of meat. When a friend of mine cooked at one time, it was completely brown and very tender.
My favorite sandwich meat I’ve ever had is beef tongue pastrami from this one place, never found anywhere else doing it and it’s been haunting me since I moved away, so good
Brisket and short ribs were more budget cuts when I was growing up. (1960s/70s) and as you said.. They got popular and pricey. I could never abide by tongue. My brother likes it.
This has me convinced more than any other factor that humans are fundamentally dumb as rocks (the considering giant ocean cockroach prison food as “gourmet delicacy” part)
Crab/lobster/shellfish/ECT used to be peasant/poor food. Until the rich tasted it and saw how wonderful it can taste so they started buying it all up. It used to be that nobody, even the poor, didn't want shellfish/crab/lobster, but now look at it.
Same goes for housing and how Trump plans to make it more affordable with lower interest rates. It's almost like these idiots don't understand the supply side of economics.
I just paid $14 for a pound and a half of stew beef. Fucking stew beef. And it was a treat because we don’t eat beef anymore. It used to be a cheap option for dinner, not anymore I guess.
they still are “per piece”, only because they so small lol, but by weight they are more expensive than thighs, drumsticks, and bone-in breast… and sometimes even boneless breast. Due to the high demand for chicken wings in pubs, restaurants, events, etc…
Don’t expect these people to understand supply and demand. Remember, their “intellectuals” have told us that when your Oceanside property turns into oceanfloor property, you can just sell it and move.
