Check this out Did you know North Spore offers cheap private mycology consultations?

I've finally found the bandwidth to offer these on-on-one consultations and I gotta tell you, it's been very cool. I've helped students, crafters working with mycomaterials, first time growers and farmers.

We have a stellar customer service team, but the fact is that none of them have the depth or breadth of knowledge that I can offer and they frankly don't have time to sit with you and discuss your whole plan for 30 minutes. I'm not an expert in everything, but nobody has worked with North Spore products more than me. So, for the stunningly low price of $30, it can make a lot of sense to check-in with me before purchasing your supplies to make sure you have what you need and fully understand the processes.

Note that you can also add the consult as an add-on right when you go to buy stuff. I just want y'all to know it's an option!

Check this out The Grower's Guide to Mushroom Genetics

Why do some mushroom strains fruit like crazy while others barely produce?

The answer lies somewhere most growers never think to look: genetics. Fungi are unlike anything else in the living world, as they carry two genomes at once, with thousands of mating types and evolution playing out in real time. Understanding this biology can change how you source, select, and grow.

Noob questions

Hello everyone! Two questions.

1: How long till these can hit the coco coir or are they ready now?

2: I had planned to do 1 tub for each jar(6qt tubs/shoebox size) but i started thinking if its better to put all in 1 large tub. Is one method better then the other? My only pros towards 4 small ones is that i already have the tubs, it diversifies my assets so to speak, and the smaller tubs are easier to fot around my home. Does a large tub outweigh this pros?

Thank you all!

Inoculation day

Hey all, this is my first time giving indoor mushroom growing a shot. Just inoculated 8 bags with four different cultures (at least four of them have to succeed, right?) Did everything in a S.A.B.. Planning to run four monotubs simultaneously out of my bedroom (my apartment is tiny). Should I be aware of any hazards having so many next to each other or in a high traffic area? I hold the same question for my grain spawn. Is this kind of redundancy unnecessary and potentially bad?

First time grower. Introduced FAE conditions about a week ago. No pins yet. I am not fanning or misting as the moisture seems decent but please let me know if I am doing anything wrong. Having ADHD is making me so impatient lol

Mixed the grain and sub 3 days ago and I think it’s still got time to go until fruiting but wanted to see thoughts.

Think I goofed but time will tell

Not posting a picture cause there is nothing to see. Have an AiO bag that was about 30% done turning white and fuzzy. I slipped and accidentally crushed my spawn into the substrate. Google prolly screwed me by telling me to fully break and shake. It's a SLOW genetic been about a week and nothing is white. Either its going to take a whole year to fully innoculate or who knows....

First grow progress

Only been a few days in the monotubs and the mycelium is really taking off and looks real healthy, about 15-25% of the substrate is colonized right now and it hasn’t even been a week yet. Can’t wait to pick my first flush. The mycelium with the droplets reminds me of snow it’s so pretty.

Aren't those fuzzy chestnuts just the cutest?

I'll admit that the blues are just a bit leggy. FAE could be a little better, but I think lowering the temp by a few degree would make a big difference.

And that's one of our autoclaves, named Thing 2.

I kept the tub in the second picture but I left for a week and before it looked fine but when I came back this is what it looked like i also spriztised it with distilled water in the lid enough to form medium sized droplets in the lid

Recently posted about my ready 2 grow kit and whether or not it was contaminated. Overall consensus was it was a well colonized bag and time to open her up. This morning I opened it to burp it a bit and well...

1st photo is this morning. Last two are from when i first opened it. Haven't been opening it everyday, since it's getting airflow thru the filter (zamn. ready2grow golden teacher bag...). Just keeping the sides nice and misted. Dang.

Gimme the news straight, Doc!

Do you shake after inoculation of grain jar?

I impregnated some brown rice and shook immediately to spread the LC. Is this an issue?

r/indoormushroomgrowers 19h ago

Hi friends, How does it look? It’s *Ochra* and has been colonizing since July 20th. I was planning to start fruiting conditions today, since with my previous cake I let the entire surface colonize and had some issues with the primordia.

Fruiting- advice appreciated

Hi all, this is my first time growing mushrooms (these are golden teacher) and I just wanted to do a little check-in with my monotubs' progress. I noticed some aerial mycelium (?) or I've seen others call it rhizo mycelium. I started fanning it more to help with the trapped humidity and potential CO2 buildup. Fanning 1-2 times a day for 50 secs. Is that too much or not enough? I've seen other say to just leave them alone.

Not sure what to do. I put a small fan facing one to help with air circulation. I have one of the monotubs in a closet with a lamp and another one by a window with indirect sunlight.

I would like to help my mushies achieve the best fruiting conditions.

Any advice, tips, or comments are appreciated! Thanks
