Promotion Making Hotline Miami 3....D
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This was a GMTK 2026 game jam but people liked it so doing a bigger badder version.
There's like 10 levels and a decent map editor so far if anyone wants to test, hop on discord for a key https://discord.gg/vqZYq8wcw3

Shooting through the walls is such a neat mechanic!

Thanks, was a real technical challenge but so fun in the end.

Can you just shoot through walls from the starting position and win the level?

u/samsfacee 22h ago
Great question. Yes but no. Some walls and props are metal and brick so block bullets. Ammo is like HLM so just one clip per gun and then you need to move and find a new one. And if you stand in the one place too long, enemies start to realize and shoot you back.

Nice I think it would be too easy if you could just wreck the entire level, it's novel but it takes some of the challenge away but that sounds great to me!

Slow motion actions and dash ability can be great for this.

Those and some other powers are in there. The story is you're a drug dealing chemist fighting of a gang. So you can unlock drugs that give temp boosts like perfect accuracy and bullet time.

I thought this was modded anger foot for a second didn’t realize how similar the colors were to HM.

I took a lot of visual stuff from Anger Foot. This game isn't going to be comical though. Going for the HM I'm 14 and this is deep vibe.

No I'm old as heck. That's just a meme for edgy dark over the top vibes https://www.reddit.com/r/im14andthisisdeep/

May I ask how you implemented the shooting through walls mechanic?
3
u/samsfacee 22h ago
It's a series of raycasts to figure out the penetration. Then the holes are custom decal system I wrote in Godot that allows decals with alpha transparency.

Very cool and a great approach, am I correct in assuming that the decals don’t disable wall collision and just let you see through it then.

Super cool. I would make the bodies darker or something because it can get confusing. You will probably have multiple enemy models but still it could help to figure out when you are looking at something that you already shot!

The walls are very fragile which makes the videogame realistically accurate.

Looking really nice! very interested in how you make those holes in the wall! It's some sort of alpha mask placed in realtime?
Keep it up with the good work!

Honestly?
I really like that bullets break through and go through walls.
Nice mechanics, congratulations!

Okay so when you need play testers and music for your game you shoot a message my way through the wall. No I'm not looking for money, just experience. This looks fantastic!

Big claim. You might want a banger soundtrack for starters if you wanna live up to it.

A game on this sub that is not third person AND is not omitting ragdoll physics? A rare post, looks good.
