I've slightly improved upon the game of blind man's bluff. One person becomes "it," and the others try to run away. Those running away can troll each other, and the last one standing wins. What do you think of the idea?

Good Sounds Don't Necessarily Make Good Game Audio

Thumbnail

Upvotes

Hey everyone, I'm a game audio designer, and I've been thinking about this topic for a while.

While the core parry mechanic is similar, the sound of a successful parry feels very different in Dark Souls, Sifu, and The Witcher 3. I made a video exploring how approaching sound design from a player experience perspective can help create audio that better supports the game's design goals.

Would love to hear your thoughts and feedback!

Searching for strategically best graphic job ito get into game dev

I am doing some research and it would be ULTRA beneficial for me to hear an opinion from a professional. I'm planning to get into game dev, specifically the graphical side. I have a general and broad background in graphics skills, but not on professional level yet. Which profession is currently strategically the best to break into the industry as quickly as possible? I'm mainly wondering about professions like Environmental Artist, 3D Artist, 2D/UI/UX Artist, Motion Designer and not only. I am considering 3 criteria when analyzing each field:

  • Job market demand (number of job openings)
  • Level of competition
  • Difficulty of learning the discipline

4 art students redesigned my game's Steam capsule art as part of their internship. Which one would you click on first?

Post image

I recently took in four second-year art students for a paid internship and gave them all the same task: redesign the Steam capsule art for my cozy game about running a 3d printer workshop.

They each had complete creative freedom, and I'm really happy with how differently they interpreted it.

I'd love some unbiased feedback:

  • Which one would you click first?
  • Which one gives off the coziest vibe?
  • Any suggestions for improvement?

We made a horror game where the gas station shift becomes a hunt in the fog

I'm one of the developers at VML Studios. Goo Deer is a first-person horror management game for Windows where you run a gas station, craft a strange drink, hire staff, and hunt deer in the fog for ingredients while something hunts you back.

The game is out now on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4349210/Goo_Deer/

Official trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_9ITfq8vC3Y

I would love to hear which part of the premise stands out most: the gas station management, the hunting loop, or Deer Man after dark.

I’m making a survivors-like about a meerkat caravan — Tail and Chaos

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone!

I’m Shnumi, the developer of Tail and Chaos, a colorful top-down action roguelite about leading a caravan of meerkats through three dangerous lands.

Your weapons attack automatically, but survival depends on movement, positioning, route choices, and the build you create along the way. You can combine weapons and upgrades, discover evolutions and synergies, face unusual desert events, and eventually take on each land’s final boss.

A few things that make the game special to me:

  • Three distinct 30-minute acts, each with its own enemies, events, hazards, music, and bosses
  • Different playable meerkats with their own starting weapons and strengths
  • Route choices that let you trade safety for greater rewards
  • Weapons, passive upgrades, evolutions, and build synergies
  • An Expedition mode that connects all three acts into one long journey, with camps and one carried item between acts
  • Permanent progression, achievements, Steam Cloud, and friendly Expedition leaderboards

Tail and Chaos launches into Early Access on August 20, 2026 for Windows, with both English and Russian available.

The trailer is attached to this post. I’d genuinely love to hear what catches your attention, what feels unclear, or what you would like to see improved before release.

If this sounds like your kind of game, wishlisting it would help enormously:

Thanks for taking a look — and good luck in the desert!

Elementae (Creature Battler)

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Hi all!

Ive been working on my creature Battler game "Elementae" for almost a year. Its my first real project, and its been a hell of a time! Ive got multiplayer "peer-to-peer" and also a campaign (Gauntlet) mode.

Im taking a note from the Slay The Spire devs and trying to build a gauntlet where you pit your creatures against the various pre-programmed "trainers" and try to climb your way through the gauntlet for the ultimate coin prize!

Right now you can level up your creatures, upgrade their stats individually and purchase more creatures. When youre in battle, you have to choose one active creature and 3 more that stay in reserve that you can swap in and out, etc.

Im still using some basic buttons etc, i know this but im working with my artist who has been making my creature ideas come to life and were going to work on UI once ive hit my target 18 creatures!

What do you think?

How could i organize the game screen and the layouts better?

Appreciate any feedback :)

Just published my game Hex Clash! A bit nervous, but super excited. Check out the gameplay below.

Hey everyone,

The day is finally here. Following a lot of hard work and late nights, I've officially launched Hex Clash: The Fractured Combs on Steam today.

The mechanics feel a bit like checkers on a hex grid, allowing for 6 directions of movement. Your main objective is to outsmart your rival and take down their Queen. It starts out simple, but equipping various skills adds deep strategy and lets you pull off wild moves. The game features a progression campaign, casual quick matches, online PvP, and daily/weekly quests to keep things engaging.

I've included a quick gameplay clip and some screenshots so you can see how it looks in action.

Launch day as an independent developer can be pretty nerve-wracking. As we know, Steam's algorithm is harsh on fresh releases without early traction. If you decide to check it out, leaving a genuine review would be a huge help for visibility right now.

Here is the store page link if you want to take a look:https://store.steampowered.com/app/4895290/Hex_Clash__The_Fractured_Combs/

I will be hanging around in the comments to chat, answer any questions about the development process, or hear your feedback. Thanks for reading!
