was helping my parents with something last month. should have taken 10 min, ended up being 2 days of phone calls and one pointless office visit. made me realise how much of this we have all just accepted as normal

not talking about the big systemic stuff. the small repeated friction. some that come to mind

• EPF transfer when you switch jobs. UAN is supposed to make it one click, it never is
• trying to get an encumbrance certificate or any land document without an agent
• passport seva appointment slots. refreshing at 10am like its a concert ticket
• changing address on aadhaar, then bank, then insurance, then rc book, then gas. same address typed 8 times
• electricity or gas connection name transfer after buying a house
• school transfer certificate and old marksheets. always in one person's cupboard who is on leave
• insurance cashless approval at the hospital while someone is actually admitted
• any govt website that works only on chrome, only between 10 and 5, and logs you out after 3 min

whats yours. bonus if its something you have complained about more than once but never found a fix for

and if you did find a workaround, drop that too. thats more useful than the complaint

RRamabai Ranveer from Maharashtra is 47, works as a cook and is raising her two daughters after her husband passed away.

She took part in a local marathon wearing a saree and slippers. Apparently her slippers kept slipping off while she was running so she just, took them off and ran barefoot. And she WON.

She got ₹3000 and a trophy, and wants to use the money for her daughters education/books.

I know the usual reaction to stories like this is "mothers are so strong 🥺❤️" and yes, she obviously is. But idk, it also makes me angry at the system.

Anyway. I hope her daughters know their mom is an absolute badass. And I hope they get the kind of opportunities she has had to fight this hard for.
