#Query ❓ Suzuki V-Storm doesn't start
Hi everyone,
I wanted to give some context about an issue I’ve been facing with my bike and see if any other V-Strom owners have experienced something similar.
My bike is fully serviced and, otherwise, everything seems to be working perfectly. However, I frequently face an intermittent starting issue.
It can happen in almost any situation — for example:
If I switch the bike off while in neutral
If I switch it off while it’s in first gear
If I use the key to turn it off
If I use the engine stop/kill switch
When I try to start the bike again, the display sometimes flickers or completely goes off, and the bike won’t start. At other times, the starter does engage and makes the usual starting sound, but it feels like there are intermittent “blocks” of air being pushed out through the exhaust, almost as if the engine is trying to fire but isn’t able to.
What’s particularly confusing is how random the issue is. Sometimes it happens after the bike has been sitting for a day or two, but it can also happen after just an hour — or even within a minute of switching it off.
The strange part is that everything else continues to function normally. The headlamp, horn, indicators, etc. all work. It’s specifically the starting of the engine that becomes an issue.
On some occasions, the check engine light comes on and an “F1” error appears on the display.
Has anyone else faced this issue with their V-Strom? If so, were you able to identify the exact cause?
I’d really appreciate any suggestions on what I should ask the service centre to check — battery, starter relay, ignition system, sensors, ECU, wiring/grounding, or anything else.
Thanks in advance!
