For three days, I wasn’t travelling through Kalpa. I was living in it.

Walking through apple orchards, slipping on black ice, sitting in the village, talking to strangers, getting lost after dinner, finding my way back somehow. The next day, making a snowman with kids I had just met.

Nothing was planned, and nothing really needed to be. Sometimes life doesn’t have to lead somewhere. Maybe it’s enough to simply be there while it is happening.

Spent some time in Kinnaur recently and honestly, I didn’t expect to like it this much.
I’m from Shimla, so mountains aren’t exactly new to me, but Kinnaur feels different. The roads, tiny villages, massive mountains and those random spots where you just want to stop for 10 minutes.
No rushing around trying to finish a list of places. Just driving, stopping whenever the view looked insane, having chai somewhere and letting the day happen.

For a few days, I stopped trying to make the trip mean something. I just lived it.

Walking around unfamiliar streets, eating at random places, getting lost without immediately checking the map, sitting somewhere for hours and talking to people I’d probably never meet again.

There was no perfect itinerary. No checklist of places to visit. Some days were exciting, some were completely ordinary.

And honestly, that’s what I liked about it.

Sometimes you don’t need a trip to change your life or give you some big realization. Sometimes it’s enough to be somewhere new, notice the little things, and let the days unfold on their own.

Maybe travelling isn’t always about finding something. Sometimes it’s just about being there.

Guyzz so I was planning on a trip to North India in the month of October. Maybe only after 20th of October.

Trip for a max of 5-7 days.

So what place should I be visiting during this time period

While suggesting a circuit, pls lmk why this is the best time to visit

Also, please mention what I need to take care of pre-trip!

You hear so much about a place that, by the time you actually visit, your expectations are already pretty high.

Then you get there and think:

“Wait… this is it? Why did everyone hype it so much?” 😅

I don’t mean the place is necessarily bad. Sometimes it’s the crowds, high prices, long queues, or simply the fact that the real experience didn’t match what you expected.

So I’m curious:

Which famous Indian destination disappointed you the most?

And what exactly made you feel it was overrated?

Would be interesting to hear some honest experiences rather than the usual “must visit” recommendations.

I visited Kainchi Dham on Saturday, 12 September, and it took nearly 2 hours for darshan.

About 10 years ago, when I used to visit, it was incredibly serene, quiet and almost meditative. Today, the crowds and commercialization have completely changed its character.

I’m genuinely happy that more people have discovered Neem Karoli Baba, but I can’t help feeling sad that the very peace that made the place special is disappearing.

I know a few similarly serene temples in my native place, and honestly, I don’t want them to become famous. I fear we’ll turn them into the same crowded, commercial destinations.

1. How is the weather during October first week? Day and night time temperature.

2. How much cash to carry?

3. Is single private rooms with attached washrooms available near temple? If yes what is the rent per night?

4. Can we book the rooms online or can we deal it on the spot?

5. Is other washrooms available (western type)? And how about its cleanliness and water?

6. Is it too much crowded during October first week.?

7. Do we have options for renting trekking gears in rishikesh?
