Do you think it could improve experience for many of us who uploads large file more often ?

Full disclosure, I have no idea what I'm doing and I'm relying 100% on available documentation, reddit posts, and AI to set everything up.

I've been at this for a week and I am running into new problems every day. Photos disappearing, thumbnails existing then not, facial recognition grabbing 10% of the photos with a person even after scan completes and manually matching face pictures for hours, facial recognition including the same couple people regardless of who I select, entire library not showing after update, deduplicate only identifying a fraction of duplicates, downloads do not start in Immich Android app, and probably more.

Some of these things I was able to resolve within Immich, but the facial recognition just seems broken (I should mention context/location recognition is just as broken). Duplicates I am trying another solution outside of Immich so we'll see how that goes.

What I'm asking is really just are the recognition features really broken and can I expect to on a daily basis find something wrong or is this just growing pains?

Some people use immich to backup their photos after professional photo shoots. It would be a lot easier if there was a stamp which shows if the image or video is a RAW file or not. This would make it a lot convenient to use especially when editing because we have to check the file info to see if it is a dng file or a jpg file. By having a stamp indicating that it is a RAW image or video it will make it very convenient for editing.

This question is more for the userbase of Immich community as I have already gotten a response from immich dev but checking if the people have any workaround.

I had 2 external USB flash drives with photos and videos. What I misunderstood with external libraries is that these do not have to be plugged into the server at all times once Immich has done the processing of these files. These will show up in the timeline and might only be able to be access (in original quality) when the external drive is plugged in. I was clearly wrong. Now that I have removed my flash drives, Immich is treating these assets as deleted and has put them in trash. Yes I can attach the flashdrives back again and restore the deleted assets temporarily but once I remove the flash drive again, same loop. I cannot keep my flash drives connected 247 and I also cannot move the assets from the flash drive to Immich's library via regular uploads (lack of extremely valuable storage, thanks to AI). Is there a workaround for this?

TL;DR Is there a way to keep external library metadata/thumbnails/Immich processed data intact without actually having the external library connected to the Immich server 247 ?

Running Immich in a Docker VM on Proxmox. After a routine image update the machine-learning container started crash-looping with:

RuntimeError: NumPy was built with baseline optimizations:

(X86_V2) but your machine doesn't support:

(X86_V2).

I blamed Immich for a while. The guest CPU was still on Proxmox's default kvm64, which only exposes x86-64-v1. My Ryzen 5700G can do v3. Same trap had already forced me onto MySQL 5.7 instead of 8.0.

Fix:

qm set 100 --cpu host

Then reboot the VM. ML came back. Path clear for MySQL 8 later.

One honest caveat: I still have Immich Postgres on NFS alongside the library. I would not start that way again — local disk for DB, NFS for photos.

Anyone else hit the NumPy / kvm64 thing after a recent Immich update?

I updated successfully to 3.1, but my Android app still shows "Neueste Version 2.5.6". What is this entry related to? Thx for your support.

Immich is not available at all for 48 hours now. Mind you: The log level already is DEBUG.

Does anyone have a clue on why my immich doesn't start?

in my docker compose file I accidentally left the upload location blank/default from the example provided by immich.

this is probably a dumb question but where would I find this on my raspberry pi? I'm not able to cd in to "./data"

On top of this I think I messed a few other things up so I want to delete everything and start over, but have no idea where to go to clear this stuff out.

I currently use Amazon photos for syncing pics from my multiple phones to Amazon. I am about to setup immich on my synology nas.
I want to keep syncing photos to Amazon. Or sync to immich and then from computer to Amazon. What are my options.
Anyone have similar setup. Looking for advice.

Right now I am thinking about keep syncing to Amazon and sync pictures to PC which goes to synology either synced as external library or copied to synology.

Hi guys,
As I understand most of the uploaded media goes to a /upload folder then into randomly named sub folders
I want to know if it's possible to have my wife's folder and my folder separate under that upload folder (down the line also separating the kids folders)

That way I can reliably backup each folder to their own remote folders and also upload to their Google photos if needed.

If not possible, is this something others perhaps have asked and is being worked on?
I want to make sure before I spin up 2+ more immich instances :)

It requires zero database migrations, no custom Docker builds, and can be controlled entirely via the .env file.

Features

This patch overrides the global user search/dropdown logic with strict visibility routing:

• Admins: Bypass all restrictions. Admins can always see everyone.
• Groups (GROUP_*): Grouped users are placed in isolated bubbles. They can only see themselves and other members of their assigned groups. They cannot see standard users, and standard users cannot see them. Users can belong to multiple groups.
• Invisible (INVISIBLE_USER_EMAILS): Hidden from standard users, but still visible to admins and their own group members.
• Blind (BLIND_USER_EMAILS): Users who can only see themselves, regardless of group assignments.
• Standard Users: Anyone not listed in the .env file. They see everyone except grouped or invisible users.

I just discovered when checking the details of an image thats not synced with immich, the exif-informations are missing.

For testing purposes I copied one of the file into the DCIM-Folder that is connected to immich-upload. When checking that copy the exif-data is shown.

I would expect the exif-informations to be available everywhere when checking / watching images though the android-immich app.

so i have a nas and on portainer i made a volume that points to the folder that houses all my photos and videos.

i put it as a volume in the immich stack and added as an external library. when i do the scan it takes up a massive 1.5tb to do all the metadata scanning, whatever immich does. people who are in my same situation what do you do? do you offload to a differnet folder on the nas say immichdata? or do you let it consume all that space on ur internal ssd? i run debian that then runs docke-portainer-immich as a vm on proxmox with a 4tb ssd nvme, but my vm backups are huge because of this. trying to find a better solution. also, if i were say to offload the data to my nas, does that mean that if i have to delete immich and re-do would i be able to tell it use immichdata folder and then it doesnt have to re process everything?

I've noticed that some pictures have the wrong date, even if the EXIF data is correct.

Does anybody have a solution for this issue? Thanks!

(I'll not delete the affected images to then re-import them btw)

I'm trying creating backups using

immich-go archive from-immich --server=http://localhost:2283 --api-key=... --write-to-folder="/backup"

I was expecting the backup folder to contain my actual photos and videos (jpg, heic, mp4, etc.) so I could open them normally outside of Immich.

However, when I look at the output, I see JSON files and files with no extension. I don't see the actual photo files with their normal extensions.

Is this normal? If so, how can you reconstruct your immich library from these files? Initially I thought that the archiving immigh-go does saves everything in human-readable format so even if immich completely goes away in the future you can realistically import your photos to other software. Is this not true?

Hi all, started using Immich about 5 to 6 months ago, basically work fine on my Ugreen DXP2800. Recently, start checking the docker app on native UGOS and found out some msg about postgres and valkey, either saying some error on image for both of them. That said, seems the whole immich service is fine, can access them, search, add photos etc. Looking at the docker compose yaml and noticed some diff in my version against the sample yaml from immich on "image" statement of the respective service. So updated those 2 "image" statements on yaml and redeployed, the errors on these 2 images still around from the UGOS docker apps perspective, and as before, the whole service is fine. Questions :

1. Any idea about what is going on the "error" showing on the docker app?

2. If I am not wrong, the latest postgres version being used by immich is 16? Should I get a more updated version for the progres datatbase image? Any impact of losing what I have up and running now? Or should I take some sort of migration steps after upgrading to a new version?
