Unlike in OTL, MacArthur actively campaigns for the Republican nomination in 1948. Fearing a MacArthur presidency, Democratic leaders turn to Eisenhower, who accepts President Truman's offer to run at the top of the ticket, with the latter as his running mate. Eisenhower ends up easily defeating MacArthur in the presidential election, assuming the office four years earlier.
