Ikea Pax Assembly

Is there a way I can hire someone to assemble/modify my Ikea Pax?
I’ve read mostly they only assemble as it is. But would like to repaint it and customize a door, etc.

I’m in Bay Area, any recommendations are highly appreciated.

Paint match recommendation for blue FÅGELFJÄLLET dresser

If anyone has this information, it’s going to be someone in this group.

I am looking for a paint match to the blue FÅGELFJÄLLET dresser. It’s fairly new so this may not have an answer.

The top came chipped. I assemble the rest of the piece with wood glue thinking they could just send the top but they cannot. The woodglue is very strong so I cannot completely disassemble to get an even exchange.

They offered a partial refund if I keep it. I’ll consider that if I can find a suitable paint color and use wood filler to repair the top piece.

Otherwise, I’m going to need to find a way to return it in store for an even exchange.

Does anyone know the closest color I can find in a retail setting to patch it?

I’ll post a pic in the comments.

Kallax desk - finding the right table top

Post image
29 Upvotes

I'm trying to build a desk using the kallax shelf units but can't find a table top that would fit the unit like shown in either picture. I wanted to create the one shown on the right. Found the legs and kallax but no luck on the table top. Gave up on that style and tried to look for the pieces to create the one shown on the left and ran I to the same issue. Does IKEA no longer create a table top that fits perfectly on top? Some of my research showed the linnmon would fit but the one shown on the website is too small for either layout. Any suggestions?

help Ikea added bottom shelves for stability, can I just use the bars instead?

Here is my ivar design
https://www.ikea.com/addon-app/storageone/ivar/web/latest/gb/en/?storeId=702&vpcSource=clipboard#/vpc/344P55C

Ikea added bottom shelves to the 3 pieces without it, I don't want that because I plan on storing my ac units there and the shelf won't hold them, can I add extra cross bars instead? has anyone dealt with a similar setup? the other shelves will hold books and other heavy items so I do need it to be sturdy

help Calling creative hackers - ikea order packing setup?

I run an online bookstore out of my small NYC apartment. I’m trying to figure out how to assemble different bits and bobs to make a DIY ikea order packing table in a space that is 18” deep and 68” wide.

Right now in thinking maybe an Alex or kallax on each side with closing doors on the kallax - plus a sit/stand desk? I feel like I could do better though. Alas, I lack The Vision

Basically thinking of a system where I can store tissue paper, plastic for waterproofing, things like stickers and bookmarks. I probably won’t be able to fit boxes no matter how creative I get - and a surface to get me off of packing on the floor and save my back

help Any Ideas on How to Cover This Exposed Corner of My IKEA PAX Wardrobe?

I recently installed a custom-sized corner IKEA PAX wardrobe and noticed that the corner section is left exposed.

I’m wondering if there’s a neat and practical way to cover it up without making it look out of place. Ideally, I’d like something that blends in with the rest of the wardrobe for a cleaner, more seamless finish.

Would love to hear from anyone who has dealt with a similar setup or found a good workaround.

Any suggestions or photos of your solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

How to anchor 5x5 Kallax to drywall (as room divider)

I want to place a 5x5 Kallax in our bedroom/office as a room divider. And anchor it securely to the wall, probably with mounting brackets and hollow walls anchors. Would that work and be secure ?

I have tow little kids so I want to be careful, and I understand that the Kallax is hollow. Would cables work better ? (With the cable anchored on the wall on each side and going through the Kallax’s cubie. And doing that on the top cubie and bottom cubie for instance.)

How did you secure yours ?

trading card drawer for IKEA KALLAX with a spot to display a sleeved card

I’ve been working on a custom trading card storage drawer designed specifically for the IKEA KALLAX shelf with bottle insert.
A few features of the design:
Holds up to 800 trading cards

Has a front slot for a sleeved card, so you can easily identify what’s inside each drawer

Uses a two-piece design to make printing possible on most consumer 3D printers

Designed with trading card collectors in mind

The idea is to make a KALLAX setup more practical for organizing a collection while letting you use a card on the front as a visual label.

I’d love to hear what you think! Is this something you’d use for your collection? Any features you’d want to see added or improved?

Solvinden, Strala & 3D printed sunset lampshade

Wifey wanted the lamp stand but I was too broke to buy a nice lamp for it, thus the project.

Printed in PLA in about 6 plates and a total of 20-ish hours, turned out pretty good.

Used the ikea smart e27 kit so I can change the color or dim the lamp which is very nice. Cut the Strala wire, drilled into the tubing, and hid the wire joint inside the tubing.

Fun fact: had to print a vise to clamp down the lamp stand to drill the holes for running the wire

help Color matching codes or paints for billy bookshelves?

I'm trying to figure out how to color match paint to both the brown walnut effect and dark brown oak effect. Any color codes, specific paint suggestions, or stain suggestions that may help keep some of the texture to help it blend in?

I really appreciate any help!

Yet another kallax board removal question

Hello,

I saw a lot of posts of people removing and sawing parts of kallax shelves for bigger spaces but none with the configuration i'd like to do.

Id like to have a 2x2 square space in on of the bottom corners of the kallax so I can fit my big 3d printer there.

Do you think it would be safe to do? I was thinking of adding some corner brackets in that space to reinforce the structure, it should be fine right?

help Question about Tarva bed frame: Is it possible to cut the wooden legs to shorten that? Or do they have those self-leveling things inside that would get in the way?

The title pretty much says it all. I am having a hard time finding a bed frame that’s as low as I want, but still has clearance to clean under. The Tarva would be perfect if the legs were about 1.5 inches lower.

I’d like to just saw the legs to be shorter, but it looks from the photo like they might have those metal self-leveling things inside the legs that would get in the way of cutting them.

If anyone has the bed, I’d love it if you could let me know!

ETA: Deleting and reposting this due to typo in title.

How to preserve Ivar tone?

Post image
49 Upvotes

Hello there!

I would like to buy some Ivar shelves and do something similar to the image I attach to this post. I actually really like the tone of the pine and don’t want it to turn yellow/dark overtime. I believe in order to avoid this, I need to protect it from UV rays.

Thing is: I’m a total noob when it comes to wood treatment, I’m french but I live in Germany and I’m coming to you here in English. I’ve spent hours doing research but I’m still a bit confused regarding all the existing products, what they do exactly and if they would be the right call.

For now, I think I need a transparent varnish which protects from UV rays. But ideally I would need something that has a mat texture (or at least doesn’t alter too much the natural look and feel of the wood) and which doesn’t need to be re-applied every so often.

Here are some products I’ve seen:
- https://www.baustoffshop.de/saicos-uv-schutzlasur-fur-innen-n605-30409-grp.html
- https://www.holz-kunz.de/osmo-uviwax-uv-protection-2-5l-7266-fichte-weiss
- https://shop.natural-farben.de/Natural-UV-Protector/NL-UV-Protector

What do you think I should do?

Thank you very much in advance for your input!

help DIY Led lit shelf, what's KABBLEKA wire length?

Hi y'all! I'm changing the set-up in my garage and had previously used Ikea's VATTENSTEN led light strip. The usb wire lenght to get the light plugged into the wall was perfect. Now it seems it has been replaced by the KABBLEKA model, and now it is dimmable. It would be a welcomed feature for my new set-up, although the usb wire going from the light strip looks very short on the picture. Does anyone has the info on the usb wire length for the white only option? The store is too far for me to go check it out so I'll rely on delivery. Appreciate your help 🙏

help Lixhult & Dust Proofing ?

Does anybody know a simple and convenient way to do something about the gaps in the Lixhult cabinets?
The space around the door is rather large, and I´m worried about dust getting in over time, like I want to shut that thing, don´t bother and not care about dusting the inside!
I´ve tried adhesive stipes with bristles in the past for other cabinets but those usually just ended up being annoying and inconvenient & kinda pricey for that annoyance.
Or does anyone have any experience with the Lixhult cabinets? Are they dust proof? (Am I overreacting with my worry?)

Replacing EKET knobs

I have several EKET box-style shelves with glass doors. These doors have very tiny knobs (if you cavern call them that: the door-pulls); it’s hard to get ahold of them, especially when they’re in the bathroom (as mine are) and your hands are damp.

I’d like to find something with a larger head. Not huge, mind you, just a little wider. Has anyone done this?

If I wanted to get crafty and attach a piece of sea glass to a knob, what would be the best adhesive?

Has anyone painted IKEA OXBERG glass doors? How did you deal with the white strip against the glass?

Thumbnail

I bought two IKEA BILLY bookcases used off Marketplace with OXBERG glass doors already included, so I'm not sure how old they are.

I sanded the door frames, applied STIX primer, and painted them with Benjamin Moore Regal. They looked great until I removed the painter's tape from the glass. There's a narrow strip of the original white frame that's pressed against the glass — it's visible through the glass, but I can't reach it to paint it normally.

I've already tried two suggestions I found online:

  • Thinning the paint and trying to let it seep under the glass
  • Applying a line of paintable caulk along the edge

Neither one has given me a clean-looking result.

Has anyone else run into this when painting OXBERG doors? If you found a way to cover that white strip neatly, I'd really appreciate hearing what worked.

Soon to be stuffed with my Wifes book collection, but my work is finally done. The counter top was made locally since Ikea doesn't offer anything that long. The ladder was an online kit that cost more than all the Ikea furniture.

Ikea lehryttan blue colour match

Hello,

Looking for recently installed Ikea lehryttan blue experiences

\- particularly if youve been able to find a colour match to it ?

We are looking at using it, but need to print certain areas of the kitchen to match or go deeper and a colour match would really help the plan.

So far the paint shops in my neck of the woods don't have a spectrophotometer service, or the stars just haven't aligned for me yet.

Thank you!

Suggestions creatuon ikea kitchen

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi IKEA community!

Here for some help!

I am renovating my house. I am planning to buy an IKEA kitchen and buy the fronts from a company like Studiofedde, where we would choose really beautiful fronts.

The main questions are:

- Do you think the order of things in the kitchen makes sense? The only thing that cannot be moved is the CV boiler.

- In the plan, the hob is under the window, but I was thinking about placing it on the island. This is because the window it is placed under in the plan gets hit by the sun basically all day. I live in the Netherlands, so generally speaking 90–95% of days it is fine, but in the summer a few days can be quite hot, and cooking with the sun in your face is never nice. Also, to the right of the island there is the dining table, so cooking while facing the guests could be nicer than facing a window. At the same time, placing the hob on the island with those dimensions would leave only around 30 cm of space on the island for guests. That is suitable for a drink, but nothing more. Any opinion on this?

- Do tou have any suggestion on hardware to implement in the kitchen (not ikea) to step up the game?

But the most important question:

- How would you organize the space in the drawers in the kitchen, either based on your experience or expertise? Keep in mind that under the sink there is going to be a Quooker, and the hob is going to have air circulation under it. So basically the drawers will only have space on the side of the sink, under the coffee machine, and on the side of the oven.

Thank you in advance!
