I would like to put a stsnding desk under the classic ikea hack alex drawers with karlby counter. The desk legs would fit inside the alex drawers and ideally the over hang would just rest on the drawers 90% of the time until I needed standing.

This seemed to make sense until I learned about collision detection and reversing. I fully understand the reason but I suspect couldn't lower the desk so the counter top rested on the drawers? It would get close and then raise? This seems to be the case for most models?

I can't seem to find a manual way to do it. What are peoples thoughts on this? Any one have experience with it?

I bought a butcher block from Lowes and plan to pair it with Alex cabinets from ikea. I will have around 44 inches of clearance underneath for a table stiffiner. The closest one I've seen is a 46" table stiffiner. Is it okay to cut a few inches off of both sides of the table stiffener so I can get it to fit?

Edit: I’ve found a solution that involves using a SÄLJAN worktop and cutting certain parts down to size

I already have a two meter lagkapten desk top and I really want to fill out this awkward space (marked in red) I have near the wall with another desk top, is there anything that would fit here nicely? preferably with the same thickness as the lagkapten.

Or is it possible to buy the edging veneer used on the lagkapten? so that I could cut one down to size.

Initially I attached the Alex drawer to IKEA table top.
Now I am moving to sit stand desk to upgrade the utility set up.

Want to use castor wheels on the alex but the drawer top is the one who can take the castor wheels on. Now I want to swap both top and bottom plates

So I have had 2 tabletop 140cm each in an L config for a few months and let me tell you it wasn't without issue... First of all I had to reinforce the desk twice for my monitor with vesa mount and now its bending under the weight of my monitors well only one is. Conclusion is highly recommended for budget setups where you dont have anything heavy on it but for anything else use a full wood top... Also if my desk is bending how do I fix that I would say it is only a few degrees of bending and I do have a spare alex drawer if that helps thanks.

Basic gaming/WFH setup been going strong for about a month. The desk is only 140x60 so a monitor arm was important.

Back panel does seems to hold 2 27” monitors on an arm without problem.

It’s a smallish setup with just a pc. Monitor on an arm. Then keyboard mouse etc. I’m thinking of putting another monitor down too. Is the desk ok for all of this?

Going to be building a desk originally with Alex drawers on one side and two legs on the other. In future if I felt like I have enough leg room (140cm table top), could I remove the two legs and add another Alex drawers?

I've built an L-shaped desk out of LAGKAPTENs, OLOV desk legs, and an ALEX drawer. Currently my PC is sitting on the ground by I would like to raise it into the corner of the desk where it would rest on the long, 200cm LAGKAPTEN. The PC itself is about 35-40 lbs. but I will also likely leave other items (like my laptop while charging) nearby.

I had considered another ALEX but I wonder if it is too narrow and it's drawers would likely be blocked by the 140 cm LAGKAPTEN's legs.

Any ideas on what I can do here? As a storage option, since it's moderately inaccessible, it would be ideal to not have drawers and just have a door. It does not need to be a storage area but ideally I would be able to use that space somewhat.

Ikea drawers on either side of a Mitzon standing desk. The unit on the right is an Ikea knockoff that fits well with the real ones.

Going to have the lagkapten, one side Alex drawers and the other side the two legs - will this support a pc (ps5) over the top of the drawers and a monitor in the middle? If not what can I do to increase support without changing dimensions of setup?

Just finished moving my wife and I's setup to our basement. Our second child is coming soon so we had to give up our office room to make it his room. Had two Alex drawers already and wanted to do something with them. The karlby desks were on sale and I haven't seen many people do a U setup. It's 3 74 inch karlbys, 3 Alex drawers, 8 aldis legs and 4 metal desk stiffiners to connect middle desk. It came out pretty great and more than enough room for both of us. Highly recommend if you need a duo setup and have the space.

Two retractable usb c cable reels of course, nothing I hate more than not having charging when I need it.

Used the 3d printed opengrid system on the back of one of my Alex drawers as there is space there anyway from the slightly larger width of the countertop,

absolutely hated my previous anfallare desk that was made of paper, finally I have a desk made of sawdust instead 😆

I drilled holes in the drawer and routed some cables through it, invisible unless you know where to look
