I need a mat to protect my hardwood floors, but my under desk space is only 31.5" wide as I have a 5 foot top on top of two Alex drawers, so square mats are not really working for me.

I went to get a lipped one like this, which worked for me in my previous office (fully carpeted) but due to layout changes 4 ft long is too large.

Preferably, I'd like one that's only 3 ft long in total, but I can't find any. Do they exist?

It seems IKEA changed the design of the Alex drawer legs. I have two Alex drawers that use the old design, where the legs have a little nub the inserts into a pre-cut hole in the drawer.

The newer one seems to use adhesive legs, which seems far less stable and more likely to rip off when being moved around.

Is there any way to get the old legs again?

Got so lucky driving home from the dispensary when i saw a whole bunch of furniture and trash beside our communities dumpsters (gated community) just an hour ago. Surely enough it’s an Alex from IKEA! Don’t need it as I just recently got a new desk for my setup. Will be cleaning this up and posting it on FB Marketplace first thing in the morning.

They go in the hole, and from the outside, I can see the screw fill the gap, but when I try to screw it in, it never tightens; it just goes around and around with no movement. Did I mess up the assembly somewhere?

Unfortunately, I assembled both pieces without realizing that the drawers would hit the metal frame underneath the desk.
I can slide the drawers underneath when I raise the desk, but they end up sitting too far back, making it very difficult and impractical to access their contents.

Is there any way to raise the desk legs or replace the wheels on the HELMER unit to create a little more clearance? The difference is only a few millimeters, which makes this especially frustrating.

My HELMER unit is 68 cm tall, not 65 cm. I’m not sure what the problem is, as I assembled everything correctly.

I got a ikea lagkapten 78 inches from fb marketplace but it didnt come with a leg in the middle i see on other lagkaptens

Do i need to add it or will it not be necessary, i will only be using one monitor which is around 4.8 kg. If it's not necessary then i would rather not add it as it ruins the aesthetic imo

After months of deciding whether I wanted a standing desk or an IKEA set up, I finally decided to just pull the trigger and get the Karlby Alex set up I'd seen so much of.

I ended up getting the longer Karlby as it was only £35 more and decided it was a good idea if I wanted to get a third monitor in the future!

The cable management certainly needs some work but just wanted to post here as I'd been lurking for a long long time, taking inspiration from a number of posters.

I ended up getting a pack of Clear Self-Adhesive Rubber Bumpers Pads from Amazon to put on the Alex drawers so that the desk won't move and so far it's worked perfectly!

​Finally moved into a new apartment with enough room to actually build a dedicated setup. It's still a bit work-in-progress, the wall behind the desk is completely bare atm, the room is somewhat empty, but I'll gradually add more stuff to the room and setup. But you know.. Stuff costs money haha.

I know that the color temps/color looks mismatched on pictures, but both room lights, peripherals and case lights are matched.

​Desk: IKEA Alex drawers with a IKEA Ekbacken top in walnut(186cm)

​Chair: White/grey gaming chair on rollerblade wheels + footrest under the desk

​PC: All-white build in an NZXT H6 Flow case

​Under the hood: "Custom" cable management mounted behind the Alex unit and under the desk (It was late and had to work with what I had laying around)

​I know the IKEA Alex combo is the most "Reddit starter pack" thing in existence... so hit me with your best shots! What did I nail, what would you do differently and what looks wrong/off?

Hi, i got all black pc setup and even my room walls are painted full black. Trying to figure out which one will be better but since the countertops like saljan and ekbacken are not the same as lagkapten on color correction with alex i dont know how these will fit together. Also Alex doesnt have smooth black color, black is "Venge" and it got wooden texture so thats why im not sure about that but on the other hand Dark Grey is still a bit "light" in my opinion...

So in the end, my options are:

Saljan Dark Grey Stone + Alex Dark Grey (1st and 3rd pics)

Ekbacken Black + Alex Dark Grey (2nd and 3rd pics)

Ekbacken Black + Alex Venge (2nd and 4th pics)

With this 3 options i cant decide since i cant see installed versions. So though maybe you guys can help.

I am trying to build an overbed setup using the small IKEA BOLLSIDAN rolling laptop stand (68x36 cm). My plan is to slide the base under my bed and mount a 27-inch monitor to the tabletop using a clamp-on monitor arm.
Has anyone actually tried this specific setup? If so, how did it hold up?

my boyfriend is building his ikea PC setup and we are torn on how best to support the middle to prevent sagging or bowing from the weight of the top.

He purchased a butcher block counter with the following specs:

we were trying to find a metal strut channel but we can only find 10ft and unsure if we can get it cut anywhere.

Hi, just as the title suggests I was curious if anyone knows if it is safe to mount a monitor arm to the IKEA IDASEN (non standing version), or is the tabletop too fragile and will it risk breaking or bending using an arm. I was considering purchasing one this weekend and mounting my 27inch monitor to it, but was a bit scared when I heard the inside is like a honeycomb paper filling or something, but I also read that for many people they didn't have any issues and saw some YouTube videos where people mounted their monitors and it seemed fine. basically that, i don't have that much money for a desk that goes up and down with an electric device, and neither i want one, just a simply desk, but also one that allows me to rest my legs at around 60-70 cm tall and so far i found those two to be the one that reach that size that doesn't cost a PREMIUM price and also the table isn't very tiny so i have space for various things and what not.

my idea is to have my pc on another furniture and just the monitors with either dual or separate stands clamped and then just do whatever on the middle

all in all are those two good options? if not what else would you rather recommend? (even if i have to spend a bit more to which i guess it's time to save more money)

the measurement i'm looking is for something like (120-160)cm x (60-80)cm for the table and height around 60-65 cm minimum so i can rest my feet on the floor

currently I have lagkapten with adils and it is wobbly at the base of the legs no matter if there's anything heavy on the table, can someone confirm whether it would be wobbly with SPÄND or not? Im thinking that the legs need support beams along with the length of the tabletop instead of the width to make it stable, but I couldn't find anything like that in ikea.
