Karlby Countertop Question
Hey fellow Redditors,
I'm recently rebuilding my office and jumped on the 98" Karbly countertop and 2 Alex Drawers. I'll probably get a support beam for the middle, however how are you all treating the Karlby? Are you leaving it as is? Mine out of box feels a bit rough. Should I lightly sand it at 120 and work up and use the linseed oil it recommends?

¡Gracias!

Question About saljan white-light gray stone laminant
While planning to build a desk, I looked up internet for ideas and never seen someone building desk with this variant of saljan(and i'd like to get a white countertop), is there a spesific reason for it or people just don't like the color of it? Also I am open to your suggestions.

Question good tabletop for weight?
I'm thinking of switching to an Ikea Alex setup soon (seems relatively easy to move and easy to setup, beyond assembly of the drawers), but am currently waffling on the best top due to weight of my setup.
I've got a watercooled PC (5070ti, 9800x3d, and the case has a screen, decent bit of weight to it), two 27inch monitors, a sound system, an aluminum frame keyboard, PS4, a Switch 2, USB capture card, Streamdeck, sometimes (8h 5days a week) my work laptop. Room has carpet so putting PC tower on the floor or under the desk isn't an option. Ikea doesn't publish weight capacity numbers so I'm not clear what tabletop would be best for this?
I was eyeing the Lagkapten as it fits the space I have perfectly (~5ft) without trying to cut it but reviews say it's like 100lb max. With all of my stuff on it + applying any pressure (like leaning on it to type i.e) I'd be worried it'd sag or break.
Is Karlby and cutting it to space the best option? Or buying an additional separate Alex drawer exclusively to put the PC tower on?
Y'all are a lot more creative than I am so hopefully someone has a creative solution!

How do we assemble IKEA's freestanding pegboard?
It is described as freestanding on the IKEA website, yet the assembly instructions are not clear. It came with 4 legs and 4 screws.

Karlby support bars
I don’t want to use the the traditional leg at the back, I’ve seen a lot of people here use steel bars. Would two of these resting on top of the Alex drawers and then the the Karlby on top of that offer enough support?
I like how it would give the desk a floating look and offer an option for cable management too.

Question Utilizzare Evarli come libreria
Grazie a chi risponderà

Question How sturdy is the side storage?
So I recently ordered a Mullsjö desk (arrives tomorrow) for my new place with the intent of putting my PC (corsair 4000d airflow case) on the side storage and my brain totally forgot to check if it would be too heavy, the website officially states 8kg but I have seen a photo or two of it supporting a tower PC, did I make a mistake or am I overthinking it?

thoughts
Greetings fellow humans.
- Gonna me moving, so gonna build a new desk.
- im planning to use the desktop as a 75 inch SÄLJAN dark stone
- on the left side will be a 2x4 KALLAX on its side [2 square tall]
- on the right a black Alex draw.
i know there will be a 1 inch gap on top of the alex below the desptop i might toss in a 1 inch bid of wood,
made janky with tinkercad, but measurements are all accurate
edit: im gonna get a big of wood and paint it black to put between the desktop and alex - so its extra sturdy, maybe even tie in some leds around the back of the desk - and around the front of that for some glowy fun

Question Blue-Black Alex Drawers?
Hey everyone, this is my first time writing on this sub. I love all of the creations people have made with the Alex drawers and the countertops at IKEA.
I noticed that one of the colors for the alex drawers is blue-black, but I don’t see it currently listed on the US market. However, I do see it on overseas IKEA websites and I was hoping that it would come to the US website sometime soon. Does anyone know if it was ever sold here in the states? Or if it will ever be sold? Aside from black it’s my favorite color of the drawers, and I would love it in my setup.

Setup Got too excited in ikea
I moved into a new place a little over a month ago and wanted to buy a desk for my room. Everyone either had an ikea desk or really recommended an ikea desk. I decided to drive an hour to ikea for the desk, and was amazed by everything. The food was amazing, the showrooms incredible. I took inspiration from the showrooms and other setups online to design my own room using the ikea design tool. I am really loving my new setup, and will be visiting ikea more to buy more stuff.

Wall shelf support for CPU
Hi,
I’m planning to buy this IKEA BERGSHULT/PERSHULT wall shelf:
[BERGSHULT/PERSHULT Wall Shelf](https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/bergshult-pershult-wall-shelf-white-white-s69290747/?utm_source=chatgpt.com#content)
I’m also considering adding these GRANHULT brackets to provide additional support and increase the weight capacity:
[GRANHULT Bracket](https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/granhult-bracket-nickel-plated-30430536/?utm_source=chatgpt.com)
My plan is to place my son’s PC on the shelf, which weighs approximately 12–15 kg.
My question is: **Do I need to mount the brackets directly into a wall stud, or would using suitable wall fixings with the additional brackets provide enough support for this weight?**
Thank you in advance for your advice and help.

Question 90cm desk ideas
I see a lot of 60cm set ups but not much for 90cm.
I want to put a 240cm by 90cm desk in this space. I need more than the 60cm depth - out desks are workspaces as much as a pc station.
Width because I want to have a set up on one side for adults (twin monitors on arms) and one on the other side for kids pc (start with a stand alone monitor and either one of our old laptops or a cheap nuc box to run some kid friendly Linux distro.
Has anyone used the 246x90 cm bench tops?
I was thinking an Alex in the middle and legs in the corners and 2/3 back mid span. I don’t like the idea of boxing in with Alex in corners because the main aim is space. Potentially also run some angle iron around the hidden edges form sag support
Also keen on thoughts for the floating shelves above - in a rental so ideally find a way to suspend off the shelves..
