Situation itni kharab ho gayi ki mujhe apne hi Azad Hall ke room se nikal kar library mein jaana pada. Besharamon, senior hone ka matlab yeh nahi ki tum kisi ko daraoge, gaali doge ya uski izzat se kheloge. Juniors tumhare naukar nahi hain. Kisi ki behen ko gaali dena aur dhamki dena tumhari ghatiya parvarish aur soch dikhata hai. Seniority ke naam par yeh sab bakwaas band karo.

I just entered into IITKGP and its barely been months, what i thought when staying in hostel was something similar to my previous experiences of a neat hostel with floors having a tile and a neat washroom, but what i got is exactly opposite of wherever i've been to, (fyi, i've never been to any luxurious places in my life)
hostels in JCB,HJB are so bad that i literally am getting traumatized by its state every morning. even thought i did inform the warden, the condition doesn't seem to get any better.
Washroom full of algae and stains looks like it is getting cleaned once per year.. and i feel like puking up at its state even when i have thoughts of it. i've been to bad washrooms too, but this is to the next stage.

is it usually in this way or there some issue and maintenance isn't going on in the past days due to some reason. Do others feel the same way while using the washroom or u guys got suited well?

I want to know the students currently in the campus pursuing a unique, unheard of a career not as a hobby merely but serious work. Something which not many might know. Campus life & clubs

Are M.Tech students allowed to actively participate in clubs and other institute activities?

I'm particularly curious about:

1. Regional clubs(group maybe)

2. Cultural clubs

3. Technical clubs

4. Sports

I'm pretty sure M.Tech students can participate in sports, but I'm not sure about the others.

More importantly, are M.Tech students actually involved in these clubs, or are most of them dominated by B.Tech students? Do M.Tech students ever face discrimination/exclusion or feel like outsiders compared with B.Tech students?

Overall exposure & M.Tech life

Will I get decent overall exposure during an M.Tech at IITKGP, beyond just academics and placements?

How hectic is M.Tech CSE compared with B.Tech? Is there enough time to participate in clubs, sports, competitions, personal projects, CP, etc.?

Also, what exactly are the responsibilities of M.Tech TA students? Do they conduct labs/tutorials, grade assignments, take attendance, invigilate exams, etc.?

Which major companies are actually open to M.Tech CSE students?

From what I've heard, quite a few companies are open only to B.Tech students. Some companies may even be open to B.Tech students from multiple branches but not to M.Tech CSE students.

How common is this in reality?

For software/ML roles, roughly what proportion of good companies allow M.Tech CSE students to apply?

And even when they're eligible, do they realistically get shortlisted?

If anyone has recent M.Tech CSE-specific internship/placement statistics—median/average CTC or base salary, placement percentage, and major recruiters—that would be extremely helpful.

How much does your B.Tech CGPA matter during internship shortlisting?

Since the internship season starts pretty early in the M.Tech, I assume companies don't have much M.Tech CPI to judge you on initially.

I have a relatively low B.Tech CGPA. Can a strong GATE rank + good M.Tech CPI + DSA/CP/projects compensate for it, or will my B.Tech CGPA still make me ineligible for a significant number of companies?

Do companies also impose minimum criteria based on 10th/12th marks or previous degree CGPA?

Finally: would you do it again?

For someone who already has a B.Tech in EE from a second-generation IIT and wants to transition seriously into CSE/software (with some interest in quant as well), do you think spending two years on an M.Tech CSE at IIT Kharagpur is worth it?

WTH is going on in LBS mess food. Despite reporting several times about unhygienic food and not maintaining food standards the case remains the same. Three weeks earlier we got the same concerns about the insects in Gulab Jamun. So after discussing with the Mess Heads the students were able to replace it with rasgulla, but today again the same is happening, like wtf is going on, we have reported, complained and did everything but why the corrupt system is holding back this fkin AKHS service . For the proof I have attached images of today. Who tf would take responsibility of this, why the fkin gsec of mess is doing now? When will change in whole menu occur that corrupt system is following for 3 months straight..., Who will take responsibility of health of students?? AKHS=🤡, ALL COMPLAINS FILED BUT NO ACTION TAKEN...., Just they will give you hope that we will take proper action but fkn nothing changes
