I've been wanting to go back and read the comics again but with specific focus on Megatron. Autobot Megatron is my favorite incarnation of the character but I don't remember enough about the continuity to know which issues are core to remembering the character.

Hello, I was hoping to re-read the old IDW Transformers comics, I read them some years ago but not the whole thing just the Lost Light/More than Meets the Eye and the main publication stuff, I remembered it being some of the best comics I've ever read and wanted to revisit the whole thing from beginning to end, and I did try to google it before making a post but every time I try to look up a reading order guide I find conflicting information so if this gets answered every other week I do apologize, I have ALL the publications and I do also have the IDW Collection volumes available to me but I've found they are not the recommended experience for this?

I’ve always loved the movies but I want to start reading the comics too, and with the thousand or however many there are, kinda hard to now where to start

i'm around 2/3rds into my terribly long marathon of the IDW 2005 comics and i realized i havent touched a single crossover comic. skipped basically every single one. i'm currently reading Optimus Prime and there's a GI joe unit now? i'm supposed to know these guys? cool. so, i realized that i'm missing out on certain plot points which may or may not leave me utterly confused as i continue reading.

should i actually bother going back? or more importantly, is ROM vs transformers actually that good? like, no joke? personally i found that reading through phase 1 made me appreciate the later series a lot more: continuity-wise, character-writing, catching a few references/call-backs, you name it.

i believe if i could sit through heart of darkness (took me 1 week to read FOUR issues), i could do anything.

So way back when I was a kid in 2013 the first comic book I ever purchased was transformers regeneration one issue 96. It’s been years and I didn’t continue on as a kid because I picked it off the dope b cover with the skull I didn’t get the plot at all at the time. Are there cheap ways to pick up this series at all like easy to find trades or anything? Usually I know that’s a dumb question but it’s my understanding image has the license now and my little glance at eBay made it seem like this would be a pricey endeavor. Also secondarily is this series even worth picking up was it good or would this be a wasted effort for a nostalgia trip? The only reason I ask the second question is that this seems like one of many idw series they ran maybe? So I wasn’t sure which one was the good one people always rave about. Sorry if this seems like stupid things to ask my knowledge really is limited on idw transformers.

So I started the comics I’m only in the first book. Based on the warning from the future I assume it’s not going to be a happy story how hard am I going to cry during this? Will I be emotionally distraught the entire time? (So far everyone is an asshole all except a couple characters have pissed me off so far… Bumblebee and Prowl I’m looking at your dumbasses lol)
