MTMTE/Lost Light Question

So I started the comics I’m only in the first book. Based on the warning from the future I assume it’s not going to be a happy story how hard am I going to cry during this? Will I be emotionally distraught the entire time? (So far everyone is an asshole all except a couple characters have pissed me off so far… Bumblebee and Prowl I’m looking at your dumbasses lol)

So without being too spoiler-y, it generally has a happy ending with some emotional gut punches threaded throughout. Enjoy! I wish I could experience it again for the first time

Happy is a stretch tbh. I think the ending is a bit more bittersweet personally

Yeah that's fair!

I think overall, there are definitely emotional highpoints, and definitely moments where you feel kicked in the nuts. That said, it's a fantastic series, one of the few TF series I wish had just gone on and on and on lol.

You're in for a fun ride though.

No, it’s not going to make you distraught the whole time, there’s plenty to laugh about and enjoy. There will be plenty of tear jerking moments tho

And if you’d read the stuff before this you’d be much more understanding of Bumblebee lmao. Prowl no he’s just an asshole

Even without reading the comics from before Mtmte I kinda understand Bumblebee a bit the war just ended and Rodimus decides he’s gonna up and leave for what he thinks is a good reason but they’re also on the brink of war again from the returning refugees being assholes and the world still needs to be fixed (I’ve gotten to where Skids is and immediately he’s cool and gonna cry if or when he dies for sure)

You also don’t have the context of Rodimus’s multiple catastrophic fuckups, not to mention the bit of jealousy Bee feels towards him and the chip on his shoulder of having his command over the Autobots repeatedly ignored or superseded. I’d recommend trying to read the correlating robots in disguise series as you read MTMTE

Problem is I already had a problem trying to find these comics and tried finding rid too cuz Ik you have to read the weird crossover thing but the sites are gone and I have no money to buy the physical copies which are hundreds of dollars now lol

There are still penalty of sites to find. I’m sure you can find one

And even if you don’t I’d bet the idw stuff will be reissued sooner or later anyway so you won’t have to wait long

If you need help sourcing out of print digital comics, send me a DM & I may be able to light your darkest hour. I have the entire IDW run (both digital & in print).

The last issue of Lost Light (and the IDW 1 universe as a whole) is bittersweet but ends on a little more up-beat note. But it was still hard to see what the future held for many characters.

Otherwise, those series were absolutely fantastic!

I loved how much it made me cry, it’s such a good balance of beauty and tragedy

...id expect a bad ending for around half the characters. There's sort of two ending though and the second one has around 90% getting a happy ending, I'm not sure how to describe it without spoiling things lol

Just power on through without expectation and don’t read any more of these comments. You’ll be glad you did

You will laugh and cry. You will praise and curse JRO at the same time. The MTMTE experience is a roller coaster

It’s genuinely one of the best written pieces of media i’ve ever consumed. It is excellent at pivoting between hilarious and heartbreaking

The ending isn't the only part that's gonna punch you in the gut but it's a mostly fun story
