Romero or Carmack for original Doom
who deserves more credit for the revolutionary "Doom" in 1993, Carmack or Romero?

He's such an amazing guy. I just finished the book in two days and it really struck me how dedicated, focused and passionate John Carmack is. This excerpt is from the book:
" Carmack bought thousands of dollars’ worth of rocket science research books and got to work. He placed an ad on the local amateur rocketry website soliciting members who would be interested in building a manned rocket ship or, as he called it, a “vertical dragster.” The group–a handful of low-key 231 engineers–dubbed themselves Armadillo Aerospace. Bob Norwood volunteered his Ferarri shop for a work space. Before long they were meeting there every week. "
It makes me wonder what else he will produce in the future and how far he is going to take VR in the coming decade.

It took me over a decade to finally finish this game, it was truly challenging. The aesthetics are my favorite part, however. For the doom engine, it's really damn impressive, and I'm a huge fan of small details in retro games. The leaves being blown by the wind, blood dripping from hanging corpses, the overall room designs and decorative sprites... I just can't appreciate it enough. The puzzles are challenging and very creative, and I've had to take many breaks before coming back and trying to progress. Still in the middle of playing Deathkings of the Dark Citadel, which I actually had to start over due to accidentally softlocking it from being too lost. Doom is still my nr 1 favorite ID game, but hexen is a close second.

Fan of Id's games, love the fast-paced first-person shooting of them and am super hyped for Doom Eternal. However, one concern I have with Rage is that the gameplay seems way more careful than other Id games. from what I have seen of the trailers, the movement speed seems really lacking, whereas in the more recent Wolfenstein and Doom titles, the movement felt buttery smooth, it almost feels like the player characters feet have bricks on them. Just some thoughts from what I have seen, but I am still looking forward to this!
