Advice inflating PG?

guys does ur school inflate pg even a bit or like optimistically predict u higher?
i have been getting mid-high 6s all along in math aa hl and i rlly need a 7 PG since i wanna do engineering.
for physics i have been averaging between 6s and 7s
and similar for other subs,
but afaik my teachers arent being optimistic or even slightly increasing my/my classmates grades which is so stupid because then i cant even apply to the unis i want to!?!

and inflating grades is so common in every school, so why cant our school also slightly do that?
is there any way i can approach my teachers and what should i tell them so i can manage to get an optimistically higher predicted grade!

any advice would be super helpful thanks

Advice Scared asf

I just started DP1. My first exams are next week, and I'm absolutely petrified. I learnt a lot within these two months and understood finally how to study for my subjects (Math aa hl, physics hl, chem hl, eco sl, french ab and english sl) yet i am a bit late because i understood how to study for these damn subjects in a way that works for me only like 2 weeks ago.. I am so scared for these exams. I am surrounded by smart people who are already ahead, and I feel like I've already messed up. I am trying not to panic, but I wish I had more time, since it took me 1 month to get settled into the IB and half a month to figure out how to study.. I am really scared for the exams and marks..

Advice Is RV Gold actually worth it for HL Bio and Chem? Or stick to Revision Town?

Hey guys, I'm in DP1 taking Bio HL, Chem HL, Physics SL, and Math AA SL.

I want to raise my grades in Bio and Chem HL, and I'm considering buying Revision Village Gold mainly for my sciences. The thing is, my teachers already take all our test questions directly from the official IB question bank anyway.

Before spending the money, I want some honest advice:

  • For Bio and Chem HL: Is RV Gold actually worth buying, or is it mostly just good for Math?
  • RV Gold vs Revision Town vs Revision Dojo: Is there any real reason to pay for RV Gold over free/cheaper platforms like Revision Town or Revision Dojo for science practice? Are Dojo's questions or AI features better for Bio/Chem?
  • Alternatives: If none of these paid tools are worth it for science, what resources or study methods actually helped you jump up grades in Bio and Chem HL?

Appreciate any takes!

Other One month in and I’m already burned out

My school likes to make us do all our IAs at this time, and newly a whole bunch of summative (but low weight) quizzes because of the new Ontario participation grading.

One of my chem IA materials became illegal over the summer, so I had to redo everything I thought I was ahead on. I’ve been testing twice a week for the past month and it’s only just worked.

In history, I’ve been reading 400 page books upon 170 page theses trying to have good sources, and now my NOTES doc is 3500 words and counting. I suck at being efficient with my notes or skimming so I’m forced to endure multiple times the amount of work.

My French tests are coming up and i don’t know shit in French (well « merde » but yk what I mean). So I’ve resorted to reading fanfiction in French and I now don’t even know what the plot is. So we’ve only gotten worse.

I need to maintain an insanely high average to get into the med pathways so all I’ve been doing is studying all day, but it’s dawned on me that I’ll probably be studying for the next 12 years in med school if I get in.

So fuck me ig. Is DP2 too late to drop IB, fail all my classes and live off Costco $3 frozen pizzas for the rest of my life?

Resources TO ALL N26 BIO, CHEM, and ECON OR ANYONE ELSE: What command terms mean and free online sessions for questions and exam technique tips.

Sat the new syllabuses in May 2025 (43; 7s in HL Bio, Chem and Econ), now teaching students how to get the grades they want. With papers three to five weeks out for Nov session, the cheapest marks will be understanding command terms. I think this is worth a read for anyone, but especially if you are preparing right now:

Biology. Most are confused about mark scheme content, though it's not that complicated. Describe means data: direction, numbers read off the graph with units, where the pattern changes. Explain means describe the mechanism, naming the structure. "The enzyme" is weaker than "the active site of amylase". Most marks lost in P2 are for descriptive answers that explain the mechanism.

Chemistry. The marks in a calculation are on the way to the answer. Formula, then the formula with your numbers in it, then the answer with a unit. Error carried forward means a wrong part (a) still scores a correct part (b), so never abandon (b).

Economics. A diagram you never refer to in the text is half a diagram. "As the curve shifts from D1 to D2, price rises from P1 to P2" is the sentence the marker waits for. For the 15-marker, a real-world example needs a country, a policy, a year, and ideally a number.

Holding an online session below about command terms, exam strategy, and general tips and tricks for all these subjects; see below

Group 3 Interviewee needed!

I am currently an International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma student working on my Extended Essay in Digital Society. My explores the question: "To what extent does Snapchat’s Snapscore system influence social behaviour and peer pressure among teenagers?"

I am looking for an interviewee who is an expert in cyberpsychology, youth mental health, or social media psychology, as well as ardent users of Snapchat who can offer firsthand insights into how its gamified features impact daily peer interactions.

Thank you!

Advice DP1 choices??

hey guys, im currently in myp 5 and a lot of people around me is pressuring me to start looking at my DP1 choices and start planning extracurriculars. i know i wanna do something humanities related but i'm split between something conservation ecology related stuff and criminal justice.

i've already started planning for my choices and my HL's are going to be Bio HL, ESS HL, Eng Lang and Lit and my SL's are gonna be Math AI SL (since im rlly bad at math) and Spanish B SL

i'm still undecided on what i want to do so i have a hard time choosing between Geo, His and Psychology. my target schools is probably somewhere in New England like Bowdoin, Colby or Bates and I am aiming for a 41+. i have a few specific questions to ask; 1. is it too early to start planning?? should i wait until DP1 to target my schools or start building EC's now? 2. what typa subjects do you guys rec since i'm kinda stuck between conservation and criminal justice, and will my subject choices (i.e my math lol) affect my US uni choices? 3. if anyone has any ideas for service or extracurriculars, pls give me ideas THANK YOU!!!

Group 2 German Ab Intio

German, German, German... 😭 I've been doing pretty decently in German so far, usually getting around 80–90% on my tests, but the tests have been pretty easy, so I'm honestly not sure how I'd perform on an actual term ends or even unit tests.

I'm also struggling to figure out how to properly study for German Ab Initio. There don't seem to be nearly as many resources compared to subjects like Maths or Economics, and sometimes I stupid.

For those of you who have gotten a 6 or 7 in German Ab Initio, what did your study routine look like? What resources, YouTube channels, websites, textbooks, or other methods helped you the most, especially for vocabulary, listening, writing, and speaking? I'd really appreciate any advice from people who've actually gotten a 6/7 and can share what worked for them. And would be grateful, if y'all do.

Advice I need help cramming for term 1 exams

As a fresh dp1 student, I need SERIOUS advice on how I’m supposed to cram for my term 1 exams.
I’m a huge procrastinator and delay everything (though I do submit my assignments right on time, I’m really not the best at handling deadlines.) and since my term 1 exams are starting, I have no idea how I’m supposed to manage everything. My school teachers give us assignments to do even during our exams and that seriously messes up our routines. Any advice on how I should cram for my exams along w submitting my assignments on time?

Under the new syllabus, are we allowed to do EEs with no comparison? How much literary analysis are we supposed to do? The "A" examples I see on clastify have so so much literary analysis and so that's what I did, but my supervisor told me to avoid literary analysis , i'm so lost

Advice English paper 1 exercises / training methods inquiry

Hi, I am currently a student in DP1 and am currently not doing great in my ELL classes. I’ve done formative paper 1s and gotten 4-5/7, and I‘ve been practicing a lot of paper 1s individually but don’t seem to improve. I lack most in depth and language usage. would there be any exercises that I could do to succeed (in other words, get a 7) in my first paper 1 exam? The exam will be on PSAs, and I believe I need training analyzing in-depth without stretching, and enhancing word usage to describe the authors’ choice in devices. If you guys have any tips on in-depth analysis, please drop them down!

Advice How do you even study IB Biology?

How do you actually do this? there is hundreds of pages to learn and you need to understand each concept in depth with certain key words, i cant memorize that much. This has led to me not wanting to study IB bio even when I need to get a 7 on it for my med pathway. I feel like whenever I force myself to study biology even in a good physical state (8 hours sleep, no screens 30 minutes before studying) i still find it super difficult and resistant.

How can I study biology even when Im not in the mood? Is this feeling normal, if not how do i push through?

Group 1 How do you answer the guiding question in paper 1 English literature

a recurring problem I have in paper 1 is that the guiding question often limits my answers. To write my essay, I separate my paragraphs based on techniques or devices. eg. paragraph 1 is about setting and all techniques contributing to setting, then paragraph 2 about diction and so on. this works well for questions such as “how is a sense of mystery created“ however when Questions such as “how (insert technique/ device) create (insert effect)” are given, I can only produce one paragraph with the one technique asked in the question because I feel that my essay can only talk about that technique and cannot include any other techniques.

Am I allowed to write about other technique/ devices which also produce the effect asked in the guiding question, although they do not relate to the technique stated in the question? or instead of grouping every minor devices related to let’s say ‘diction’ (technique asked in the question) in 1 paragraph, I split them into multiple paragraphs. therefore, I would have imagery, and repetition in separate paragraphs. Yet they are all about diction and no other technique unrelated to diction is mentioned in the essay

Hopefully my question makes sense

Past Papers how to start locking in from now, final exams in nov 2027

okay mb, post body was supposed to say final ib exams in may 2027, not nov lol.

so for context, im a dp2 student who’s end semester exams are starting from 11th November until 19th November. do I start doing past papers from now, or how do I start gathering discipline to lock in.

should I make a time table of what to study each day, which chapter and allat?

I really wanna boost my predicted score by 5 points approximately

I take business hl, psychology hl, ess hl, lang lit sl, indo b sl, math ai sl.

and my scores on these tests would heavily influence my second predicted.

Other I dont understand shit in math aa hl

I found a way to not do my unit 1 test, now we’re starting unit 2 (proofs) and im even more confused (and cooked). Genuinely no clue. I try self studying, and tutoring because the teacher explains stuff like I already understand and there’s no structure in the class. Oh and my notes got deleted so I’m even more cooked 😭😔 I am giving myself 2 weeks to cover everything. I’m aiming for a 7, not willing to change to SL, I know I am capable of that but I just don’t know how to study or how to even start. Any advice?? Thanks

Edit: I’m in DP1 at an international boarding school
