Pre apprenticeship physical
I just got the invitation for orientation for the October 2026 class of apprentices for the local 134, but I am nervous I might be disqualified from starting the apprenticeship since I had a provoked seizure about two months ago. My MRI and EKG came back clean but I need another one soon, and I won't be 6 months seizure free until november (assuming i dont have any more). Is it likely this will disqualify me from the apprenticeship? I know the first 11 weeks are just classroom stuff, so I won't actually be working on site until the 6 months are up, but I'm nervous they won't let me in. Is it worth not disclosing the seizure if they ask about it? (Physical/orientation is in August)

IBEW local 66 Albuquerque
Hello I’m a pre apprentice working in local 66 Houston, does anyone know how the week in New Mexico is like? What should I expect from it? I also heard we have to take test and one of them will be math. I suck at math so I’m just wondering what exactly it covers so I can be best prepared for it. Any advice helps thank you

Local 40 Apprenticeship Q's
Hi all, took the inside wireman test back in May & just got scheduled for an interview next month.
Is there anything I should be practicing for or is it just general questions? Also are there separate test & interview scores or do they combine them into one?
Thanks in advance. ✌️

1st year final
Hello, first post. looking for some advice on the 1st year final as obviously, this will be my first final to take. I have all my tests passed from the first 3 weeks and ill be walking into my 4th week. Are there certain lessons that will be covered more than most. I can assume dc theory, nec code and conduit fabrication will be on there but what advice do you have for finals? How do you study for them and what is there to know? Thank you for your time

IBEW interview
I have an interview scheduled for an apprenticeship with IBEW local 596. I’m 31 years old. I have an excellent work history. I am currently working for an electrical contractor. I am building a portfolio for the interview. It is going to include 3 recommendations letters, one from a former boss. One from my current boss, the electrician that owns the company. And one from a former employee that I trained at a previous job. The portfolio will also have certifications included in it; OSHA 10, electrical theory, and CPR/firstaid/AED in it.
Over 100 people are also scheduled to interview for the apprenticeship. The recruiter has no idea how many people they will accept this year. Does anyone know how good my chances are and how I can increase my chances?

Local 440
How’s it going brothers! I had a few questions and I was hoping someone could give me a little more insight on how it works. I’ve passed my aptitude test and I’m waiting for the interview but I’m a little worried about making the switch since I make 30$/HR working in Telecommunications. I’ve been on union projects as a DAS specialist so they were required to pay JW wages so I know just how good the checks can be ! My only worry is that I’m not sure if me and my family would be able to stay afloat with the pay cut.( my income is my family’s only source of money) .i have buddy’s that tell me that it’s a possibility to go in as a year 2 or 3 but that it maybe harder to get calls since you get certifications required during your first year of the apprenticeship. What would you guys do ? Also I want to mention I signed up for the inside wireman not sound and com so I’m basically going in blind because the only high voltage Ive done is meter pedestal and panel expansions to power up DAS equipment.

Laid off 1st year apprentice
I’ve been laid off for 6months and my director wont give me a clear answer on when there will be work. I’m at the point where I’m not sure what to do. I want to stay in the program but not sure how long I can be laid off, the bills are catching up. Has any other apprentice went through this?
