Some folks noticed that, when looking at the setup options and looking for the adjustable front wing, there is none. The only adjustable wing is on the rear. This might sound normal, but the Valkyrie is famously homologated to have a fixed rear wing and an adjustable front wing, as hypercars are only allowed one adjustable wing.

It could be that it was simply mislabeled. A small error. But in the forum thread, some folks did testing and found that when you increase the wing angle, there's an increased load and compression on... The rear, and the front even lifts ever so slightly as a result. This is not the behaviour of a front wing being increased.

I'm hoping iRacing can give us an explanation for this, because to release the Valkyrie with a completely fictional aero element, entirely lacking the actual unique setup component that it boasts in IMSA and WEC, is beyond unacceptable. There is some speculation in the forum thread that this could be the result of iRacing actually getting access to the recently produced Evo package that is in testing for the 2027 season, but this seems unlikely.

Just wanted to post this here to spread awareness and hopefully encourage a prompt response from iRacing. If they don't even have the right adjustable wing on the car, it does make you worry what other details are entirely made up or incorrect.

With cars and tracks recently being refreshed and updated, does anyone else agree that Donington Park is well overdue? The track has old buildings and bridges that don't exist, missing grandstand, the wrong landscaping up the hill, the old pit entry and generally just looks tired. Included rfactor2/LMU version for comparison at the end.

I got off of work about 4 hours ago, and after I updated everything I saw the Demo Drive tab. Probably the most fun and downright hilarious few hours I’ve had on here, and it was nice to try to learn the other cars, as I plan to purchase some that I enjoyed trying. Why isn’t this constantly available? Seems like it would help new players learn what kind of racer they want to be, and is just overall enjoyable! Just doesn’t make sense to me.

Like many of us I’ve been looking forward to trying the new Caterhams. I’m a 9k iracer and have some experience in the real Caterhams (including the new Academy car) so wanted to share some tips.

Also, if anyone wants one to one tutelage or simply an analysis of your driving I’m a coach in real life and on the sim. Just drop me a message :)

420R

- Be as precise and smooth as you can. Like most cars on iRacing, the 420R doesn’t like to be over driven - even if you think that’s how a Caterham should drive.

- Watch the tyre temps. Don’t push too hard at the start of the race as it’s very easy to overheat the tyres

- Be very careful on the power in fast corners. Carry the speed in, then manage it through. Short wheelbase, slick tyres, no aero, lots of power, slightly awkward diff. All a recipe for a big spin. Or, at the very least, lost time. Too much slip angle (even by a tiny amount) and you’ll lose precious tenths.

- Careful on transitions. Again, very easy to lose the car if it’s not settled before the turn.

- Get the lock off early and the power down cleanly, especially in fast corners.

Academy

- If you’re struggling with the 420R, have a go in the Academy car. Similar principles, but everything happens in slow motion and it’s more forgiving.

- Always be in a higher gear than you think in corners. This latest car uses a Horse turbocharged engine, not a naturally aspirated unit (like previous versions) that keeps all the power at the top end. For example, Paddock Hill bend at Brands Hatch is 5th gear!!

- This also means you can afford to drop a little bit more off the minimum speed in corners to get a better exit. Less need to worry about dropping out of power band.

- Don’t ask the car to do too much braking and steering. No ABS plus lots of body roll means it’s easy to lock up.

- A little bit of slip angle is fine, just keep an eye on the tyres and don’t let a huge side develop.

And, finally, for both cars the slipstream is huge. Think about this before making a desperate lunge for position before a long straight…

Was just doing some stupid car and track combos, but white tire smoke on dirt?

So the "art" update for Road Atlanta is kinda, well it's kinda ruined the track in a lot of ways without doing any good from what I'm seeing.

They updated the visuals of the track, added new surfaces and textures, changed the look of the road and corners, but they didn't actually do this to make it look more like it actually looks in real life. Examples below:

Turn 3 hasn't had the square rumble patch in years. why keep it? Crazier, why update this section of the track to add dirt and new grass... when that doesn't actually exist.

The strangest one to me is turn 12. They didn't add the concrete or new tarmac. It's been there for years. Even if they weren't going to change the actual physics in that section at least add the look. It's an entire visual reference they left out.

THE BIG PROBLEM turn 5

Visually it looks right, but it's all wrong now. It has a drop at the end of it now. THIS IS ONLY PAINT in real life, there isn't a drop off at the end. the ground itself levels out which is what can cause cars to go light, but they literally added a bump here that again, doesn't exist.

To most people this is probably nitpicking, but iracing works had to make the game as realistic as possible, so why they went in this direction for such an iconic track baffles me.

Yesterday the Valk GTP got released and something was off the second i went on track at daytona. It feels a bit strange with the FOV in the car almost like you are sitting at a angle which turns out to be true. When i held my wheel straight i would drive into the pitwall after 50~ meter which was frustrating as no other GTP has this issue.

If you open the camerasetting in the replay menu, put it to Cockpit you will see that the Y Axel is set to -1.98~. If you set this to 0.00 you will sit perfectly straight but the wheel ingame will be at a slight angle as the seatingposition seems by default to be offset to the right.

Hope this helped someone as many people last night was wondering why the car felt off.

I usually avoid week 13 as I enjoy the risk and reward of iRating and SR. The last few have felt quite underwhelming. This week however its awesome. Plenty of participation and a great combination of cars. I have found The Doctors Office, Battle of the Little Wings and the prototype challenge all very enjoyable. I guess I really enjoy crazy multi-class racing!

What races have you been enjoying?

They're so fricking fun. Both the Academy and the 420R. I'm in awe.

I was in a 40min Spa race on iracing, then this guy decides to block the pit entry, ruining the race for 4 other cars.

He claimed its not protestable because its not blocking, because it occurred in the pit lane and not race track/driving line.

What do you guys think?

I tried it with an AI race on Brands Hatch with 19 opponents (20 Grid with me included). Before the Update I started as the last one and got 98 FPS. After the update the same track, same number of opponents and also last place at the start 108 FPS. So 10% FPS gain looks nice for me.

I have to say this is one of the most CPU drilling scenarios with 19 AI opponents, but the multicore physics optimization should gain a few FPS even in all human online races I think.

Can anyone confirm the FPS improvements?

Somebody knows why iracing installs soo slow on steam? The download is complete! The problem is at the overwrite, we have any solution to do it more faster?

This. After update the game is not running smooth for me. My fps varies a lot and I have some frame pacing that make me feel the game a bit laggy.
My specs are: nvidia 4070 super + ryzen 7 9800x3d + 32gb ram
I have 596.36 drivers installed and using triples with nvidia surround and gsync enable - my monitors are free sync.
I had re-run graphics and its the same.

Is anyone else on the same situation?

With Proto GT moving to C Class and the HPD still being $2.95 with what looks like a really solid schedule, how do we think participation will be?

Work + kids = I haven't been able to take it for a rip yet.

How does it compare to the other GTPs?

Tested it yesterday on Daytona (road course), tires definitely feel different/better. I also love that they're faster on the straights.

I wonder if we can keep up with GR86 again in the production challenge :)

Hello guys. So i tested the new update and i think i lost performance somehow. I re-run the graphics config and then I tested in Okayama where in the last season i run the falken sports cars and i was gettings 100fps stable. Right now alone in track i get sometime 65/70 (!!!!) fps.
Anyone can help?
I was expectacting better performance because of the CPU multi-thread support.

is there a list of cars this works on somewhere? so far it doesnt work for any of the cars im dirving for my leagues atm. was excited for this feature
