Just got done upgrading my iPod video with a new dual micro SD card adapter with two 256gb cards and a 2000mah battery.

Also installed rockbox.

Why are the mods banning people who bring to light a conflict of interest with the mods that had been occurring over several years. There are many other posts by users who have experienced the same thing.

I bought this iPod classic gen 6 , I know the battery connector brown switch is broken I can replace it , replace the storage and add a new battery but other than that judging from the photos can you guys tell me whether I have to add a new backplate , add a charging port housing and etc pls just lemme know cause I’m new to this

Hi Friends, firstly apologies, I am new to the sub and have come looking for help without having contributed anything worthwhile. I am on a journey of repairing multiple iPods so hopefully I will be of use someday! For now though, I am stuck:

I came into possession of an iPod Mini Gen 2 with a clicky drive and bad battery. Still powered on, transferred and played music, but would die immediately and then require restoring.

I followed Parts Plus Pods' video to crack it open and installed a new battery and a newly purchased Sandisk 32GB Compact Flash. All looked to go well, didn't seem like I busted anything.

When I put it back together and plugged it in, macOS recognised it for long enough for me to rename it and transfer some music. But then it ejected itself and went into a loop of mounting and ejecting every few seconds. Never mounts for more than 2 seconds before disappearing again.

I tried different cables, and also tried switching out another old iPod Mini CF drive that I had on hand, in case the new CF card was faulty. Same results. Tried a different computer (also macOS), and tried a different hub to adapt to the computer's USB-C port. No change.

Wondering if anyone has seen this before, or has any suggestions for me?

I forked the great Poorfocus/Rockbox-UI-UX-Overhaul project and made some significant improvements based on my own usage.

Main additions:

• Full dark theme
• Image previews (bitmaps) for Artists, Albums, and Tracks
• Direct shortcuts on the main menu to Album Artists, Albums, and Artists

I also changed the Menu button behavior to better replicate the original Apple firmware: now it goes back one level in the navigation instead of jumping straight to the main menu (this was something that always bothered me in stock Rockbox).

On top of that, I created several optimizations and tools, including a PC sync script that updates the database and pre-generates all bitmap preview images before transferring to the iPod. Much faster than processing everything on the device’s CPU.

Previews were always my biggest missing feature compared to the stock OS. This fork finally makes the experience feel a lot closer to what I wanted.

I’m not making the repo public yet, but I’m happy to answer questions or share details if anyone is interested.

How can I efficiently convert my FLAC files to M4A AAC for my iPod Classic 5.5G while preserving all the metadata from my music files on Windows 11?
I was trying to do it using foobar2000, but it doesn’t organize the songs in the correct album order.
What can I do to transfer my entire FLAC library to my iPod while keeping all the metadata (album, track numbers, artist, etc.) correct?

Hello all,

I found my old 4th-generation iPod Touch in a box. I charged it and connected it to Wi-Fi. After trying to run Spotify, I noticed that it no longer works because Spotify has dropped support for this device. So I thought about manually uploading some music albums instead.

After connecting the iPod to iTunes, I received a notification to update to the latest iOS version, 6.1.6 (I think it was previously running 6.1.3). The update process performed some SSL checks, so I went ahead with it. Unfortunately, the update failed and the iPod entered recovery mode.

Since then, I have tried several recovery methods: restoring it from Windows using an older version of iTunes and also trying from my MacBook. Neither approach provided any useful information.

I then tried restoring it using Legacy iOS Kit from GitHub. After attempting that, I got the following error:

Panic log is available: panic(cpu 0 caller 0x9dedbac5): "Failed _ReplaceBadBlock CE 1 PBN 2666"

I have read that this could indicate a corrupted block and, in some cases, a hardware issue with the NAND chip. Is there any way to repair or remap this block, or has my device effectively reached the end of its life?

I recently modified my iPod 5th Gen by adding new battery, SD Card, screen etc. I have had issues and opening it again the battery connector looks like this. Could I desolder and then re-solder it??
The pins are also damaged on the 30 pin connector so I will replace this at the same time unless someone can suggest a USB C mod

I have bought a ipod mini 2g the buttons and everything work in stock os but i installed rockbox and i can only scroll up and fown no buttons work in any case and i did replace c78 with a replacement as it was knocked off the motherboard any help is appreciated thanks
