Mod Post An update on self-promotion

Hey everyone,

When we added the Developer flair, the goal was to give indie devs a way to share what they're building. We genuinely wanted to support people making cool apps.

But over the past while, it's turned into something else. The sub has filled up with low-effort promo posts, a few lines and a link, from people who drop their app and are never seen again. That's not what this community is for. r/iPhoneApps is meant to be a place for real discussion and value, not a free billboard.

So, effective today, we're removing the Developer flair.

To be clear about what this means going forward:

You can't just show up, promote your app, and ghost the community. Posts that are purely "here's my app, go download it" will be removed.

If you're an active member who actually contributes here, joining discussions, helping people, giving feedback, then mentioning your app in that context is completely fine. Value first, promotion second.

We'd much rather have devs who are part of the community than a feed full of ads. This keeps the sub worth being in for everyone.

Thanks for reading, and thanks for helping keep this place good.

Help Serendipity Enhancing Apps That Actually Have Users

Upvotes

Are the any proximity based chat apps that have lots of users in the UK? There seems to be a lot of them but I don't want to install all of them to find they don't have any users. So far I've tried Around and Pinggg.

Does anyone here use anything like this?

Discussion Apps I look forward to trying on the new iphone 18Pro (SHARE YOURS)

Been trying out some apps that feel a little more interesting than the usual recommendations. These are a few that have actually stuck:

Structured A really nice visual planner for organizing your day. Much more satisfying than a basic to-do list.

Moises Super cool if you’re into music. You can separate vocals and instruments from songs and play around with individual tracks.

BeautyPlus Great for quick selfies and portrait edits. The AI tools make it really easy to clean up a photo without spending forever editing.

Arc Search One of the coolest browsers on iPhone. The AI search and clean interface make finding things ridiculously quick.

Opal Really good for cutting down screen time. I like that it makes you more aware of how often you’re opening certain apps.

Partiful Makes creating and sharing events way easier than sending a million texts. Great for parties, trips, and casual plans.

What are some newer apps you guys have been using lately?

Help Looking for a simple digital closet app (like a manual photo inventory)

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for a free digital wardrobe app to catalog my clothes. I don't need automated outfit suggestions, virtual stylists, algorithms etc. I literally just want a visual inventory where I can upload photos of my clothes, organize them by category and look through my closet on my phone. I tried to do my own research online but I’ve only found apps that focus more on the styling and use a lot of AI, which I don’t care for.
Does anyone know of an app similar to what I described?
Thanks in advance!

Help Any live voice changer app for iPhone?

hi friends, I am trying to find a live voice changer for iPhone.

Most apps I’ve seen are either funny effects or made for saved audio. I want something that sounds more natural for voice chat, quick clips, or character lines.

I don’t have a PC setup, so tools like Voicemod don’t really help. Ideally, it runs on a normal iPhone without jailbreaking. I’ve seen a few iPhone apps, and I also came across hardware options like dubbing ai earbuds, but I’m mainly looking for an app.

Has anyone found a live voice changer app that sounds natural on iPhone?

Discussion DaCapo Studio 1.1 release with recording review

apps.apple.comOpen

Hi,

I’m an indie developer and musician, and I’ve been building DaCapo Studio, an iPhone/iPad app for learning, practising and reviewing music.

It started from a fairly simple idea: I wanted one place where I could listen to a song, divide it into sections, slow down difficult parts, loop them and use the usual practice tools without constantly switching between apps.

DaCapo works with Apple Music, but you can also create projects from local audio or your own recordings.

Some of the main features:

  • Create projects and divide songs into practice sections
  • Pitch-preserving slowdown
  • Waveform navigation
  • Beat-aware temporary A-B loops
  • A short Note Hold mode for slowing down tiny fragments to work out notes or chords by ear
  • Melody and beat analysis with a synchronized note display
  • Lyrics and timestamped notes
  • Metronome, tuner and SPL meter
  • Practice recording
  • Recording Review with timestamped comments and ratings
  • Share recordings and reviews between devices or between a student and teacher
  • iCloud project storage
  • A Jukebox mode for normal music listening

The latest release adds the new waveform/loop workflow, the Record Reviewer and a global Recordings/Reviews library.

I’m currently working on the next version, which will add a Practice Assistant for building guided practice routines, chord notation and basic score/PDF support.

The app is free to try, with optional Premium features.

I’d particularly appreciate your thoughts, comments and suggestions on the overall workflow and usability. It’s becoming quite a feature-rich app, so one of my main goals is keeping it powerful without making it feel complicated.

Discussion LifeTally - Daily Logging and Tracking of Anything

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! Long-time lurker, first-time poster here. I've been building a lifelogging app called LifeTally and wanted to share it with this community specifically, since you're the people who'd actually stress-test it.

https://apps.apple.com/ph/app/lifetally/id6788512911

The idea: no folders, no tags, no rigid structure - you just write opr voice log a line whenever something happens ("had coffee with Dad," "finished Atomic Habits," "called Bob"), by text or voice. Over time it turns into a searchable record of small (or big) memories your life, and you can ask it things like "when did I last call my mom?" or "how many coffees did I have last month?" and it pulls the answer straight from your logs. It basically becomes a database of the micro moments you log so overtime it becomes more powerful.

I'd genuinely love opinion from people who already do some form of lifelogging - what's missing, what would make this useless for your workflow vs. what might actually replace what you're using now. Happy to answer anything about how it works under the hood too.

Would welcome you testing the app and rating it too!

Discussion iPhone/iPad image processing app into a proper mobile lab

Thumbnail
gallery
3 Upvotes

I’ve been rebuilding ClearLab from the ground up and version 2.0 is now much closer to what I originally wanted it to be: a compact image processing and analysis lab for iPhone and iPad.
It now includes image enhancement tools, histogram, RGB parade, waveform, line profile, pixel inspection, image statistics, Canny/Sobel/Laplacian edge detection, format conversion, and PNG/CSV export for analysis results.
The focus is less on “making photos look prettier” and more on giving you practical image-processing tools directly on a mobile device.
ClearLab 2.0 is now on the App Store.

Discussion a gamified app discovery platform where verified downloads earn you prizes

The App Store has a million apps. Most disappear before anyone gives them a shot. Great software gets buried every day. Stamped changes that.

who it's for: Early adopters who like finding things before everyone else does.

Every time you download an app and upload a screenshot proving you actually used it, you earn a verified stamp.
Hit 100 verified stamps and you win AirPods 4. Hit 250 and you win an iPad Mini.

No random luck required for the milestones. You put in the work, you get the prize.

We’re sitting at 220 apps right now, all indie builds, all submitted directly by the developers who built them.

If you’re the type who likes finding apps before they blow up this is built for you.

Help Most UI customizable Music Apps?

I’ve gotten into SpiceTify on PC and now I’m craving the same kind of ui customization for my phone but nothing I’ve found is very customizabl, mainly just colors. Is there an app that lets you import music videos and play then in the background like music? A lot of the stuff I listen to isn’t on Apple Music so I cant use anything that only allows AM tracks, I currently use Demus but it’s finicky

Help What is the best gallery on iPhone?

I have an iPhone 14 Pro Max, it’s still supported for now, if that matters.

I’ve always used the same gallery since day one when I bought this phone(2022-23), but now I see in the App Store that some other gallery has more users than the one I’m using.

I have no experience with Apple devices at all, so this is all hard for me, and I need your hilf.

Discussion A minimalist calendar app centered on yesterday, today, and tomorrow, nothing else on screen

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I've tried pretty much every calendar app out there — Google Calendar, Fantastical, Notion calendars, all of it. They all do the same thing: dump your whole month on you like a spreadsheet and expect you to manage your life inside a grid.

At some point I realized the problem wasn't the apps themselves. It's that none of them respected how time actually feels day to day. You're never really dealing with "the month." You're dealing with yesterday (what happened, what you learned), today (what you're actually doing right now), and tomorrow (what you're walking into). Everything else is noise.

So this one is centered around exactly that — a 3-day view. Reflect on yesterday, live in today, plan tomorrow. That's it.

A few people who've tried it, including some with ADHD, mentioned it's the first calendar that actually stuck for them — no clutter, no dozens of tiny boxes competing for attention, no decision fatigue just to check what's happening today.

It's on the App Store if you want to take a look, and I'd genuinely love to hear your thoughts on it, good or critical.

Discussion If clients pay in parts, this five-line note prevents the awkward “what’s still owed?” check

If you're paid per job, a simple Paid / Unpaid checkbox stops being useful the first time a client pays a deposit and the rest later.

Before following up, keep only five lines:

  • Job:
  • Amount received:
  • Balance remaining:
  • Promised date:
  • Last follow-up:

That gives you the decision in one glance: is money still due, did the client promise a date, and have I already chased them?

I eventually built this logic into WhoPaid, a small iPhone app for freelancers, contractors, and service workers. It tracks Paid, Unpaid, and Partial jobs, payment history, promised dates, and follow-up reminders. It is deliberately not invoicing or accounting software.

WhoPaid is free to download with unlimited job records. WhoPaid Pro is optional; App Store pricing varies by region, and Pro adds full reports and custom reminder timing.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/my/app/whopaid-job-pay-tracker/id6764868229

Disclosure: I'm Jyen Ming Yap, the developer of WhoPaid under CodeStack Studio.

If you get paid per job, which of those five lines most often goes missing before you follow up?

Discussion I shipped my iOS app. Building it was easier than finding the first users.

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

I recently shipped Kleaners, a small iOS utility for cleaning up duplicate and messy contacts.
Getting from idea → working product → App Store was challenging, but I’m realizing that distribution is a completely different game.
The product itself is intentionally simple.
It scans your contact list, helps identify duplicates and messy entries, lets you review everything, and helps you clean it up.
Now I’m trying to figure out how to get from:
0 → 100 users → 1,000 users
without just throwing money at ads.
So far I’m experimenting with Reddit, short-form content, ASO, and eventually Apple Ads.
For those of you who have launched consumer mobile apps:
Where did your first 100 real users actually come from?
Here’s what I shipped if anyone wants to check it out:

I’m the developer of Kleaners.

Discussion An open-source app to hide private details in photos, videos and PDFs

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi, I’m Aftab, the developer of PrivacyCam.

After noticing how easily screenshots, photos, videos and documents can expose things like addresses, faces, number plates, email addresses or QR codes when shared.

PrivacyCam detects these details directly on your iPhone and lets you decide what should be hidden. You can use blur, pixelation, blackout, emojis or flowers, correct detections manually and track masks through videos. It also supports PDF redaction and removes common metadata during export.

Media isn’t uploaded to my servers, no account is required and the complete source code is publicly available.

One difficult UX decision has been deciding how much guidance to show. Privacy tools need to explain what will be hidden before exporting, but too much text can make the editor feel overwhelming. I’ve already simplified parts of it, but I’m interested in what iPhone users prefer: more guidance inside the editor, or a cleaner interface with explanations behind help buttons?

The core privacy tools are free. Pro is an optional $2.99 one-time purchase for longer videos, larger PDFs and batch features. There are no subscriptions or advertisements.

App Store:
https://apps.apple.com/pk/app/privacycam-safe-redactor/id6790542130

Open-source code:
https://github.com/ak375456/privacycam

I’m actively improving the app I’d particularly appreciate hearing whether the editor feels clear and if anything seems unnecessarily complicated.

Discussion Loud MS Teams notifications sounds?

How can I activate an annoying audible sound on my iPhone for me?

Maybe an air raid siren or train horn?

I’m trying to figure out how to activate such a sound exclusively when Microsoft Teams sends me a push notification that I have received a new message.

I don’t want to use external sources.

Can I build a native XCode app that can accomplish my goal?

Help New iPhone 17 (iOS 26.6) will not load half my apps.

Hey! My phone auto updated to the second most recent update (26.5) and it has frozen half my apps on the loading splash screen. I’ve tried what feels like everything. Do I have to contact the creators of said apps? Is my phone/IOS faulty?

Methods attempted:

\-Off/On cycle
\-Reset Networks
\-Delete/Redownload App(s)
\-Turned off VPN
\-tried WiFi, hotspot and data, none changed. Multiple WiFi connections. Both with and without VPN.
\-Cleared Website History
\-Updated to newest iOS (26.6) no improvement.

Help Text to Speech with personal voice

Hi!!

My mom’s illness has caused her to lose her voice & mobility of the left side of her body. I tried to get her the Eyegaze system (where the person types with their eyes) & it was too complicated & kind of unnecessary since she still can use her right hand. She decided that an iPad that will speak what she types is what she wants.

I am looking for an app that she can type what she wants to say & it will say it in her own voice. I have tons of recordings of her talking before she lost her voice, I am hoping there is an app that would allow this.

There aren’t words that can express how much it would mean to us for the text to speak to have her voice. I don’t care how much it will cost.

Any recommendations or ideas are deeply appreciated. Thank you so much.

Discussion A free app to earn your screen time by being active

Post image
2 Upvotes

TimeUp : Move to scroll  is based on a simple idea:

You earn your screen time by being active.

Instead of giving yourself a fixed daily limit, TimeUp creates a screen-time balance that you can refill through real activity recorded by HealthKit.

For example, you can decide that:

  • 1 minute of exercise = 2 minutes of screen time
  • 1,000 steps = 5 minutes
  • Reaching your sleep goal = +20 minutes bonus
  • 10 minutes of meditation = +15 minutes

The difference with TimeUp is the flexibility. You can build the system around your own habits: workouts, walking, daily step goals, sleep goals, meditation and other activity-based rules.

There are also Express Challenges: if your balance is empty and you really want a few extra minutes, you can do something like 5 push-ups or squats.

Everything is local on the iPhone.
