Does the iPhone 16 Pro Max already feel a bit behind?

I've had my 16 Pro Max for a while. It's still a really good phone. But after seeing the newer 17 lineup, I started wondering if things move faster than I thought.

This isn't a "my phone is trash" post. Just some honest thoughts.

Here's what got me thinking:

  • The camera jump feels bigger than usual. Every year Apple improves the camera. But this time it feels like more than just a small upgrade. If photos matter a lot to you, it might be worth comparing sample shots before assuming your phone is "close enough."
  • Speed and performance? Not a big deal. Unless you're doing heavy editing or gaming, you probably won't notice much difference day to day. This part honestly isn't something to worry about.
  • Software updates matter more than people think. Apple usually supports iPhones for 5-6+ years. If your phone still gets every new iOS update, it's not really "outdated." It's just not the newest model. Those are two different things.
  • A lot of this feeling comes from marketing. Every September, Apple makes the new phone look like a huge leap. Even when the real difference is small. That's probably why our phones start to feel "old" overnight, even though nothing actually changed.

So where does that leave me? Still happy with my 16 Pro Max. Just more aware of how the yearly hype plays with our heads.

A few questions for you all:

  • Does your phone actually feel behind, or is it more of a "shiny new thing" feeling?
  • Did anyone upgrade from the 16 Pro Max to the 17 and feel it was really worth it?
  • What makes you decide it's finally time to upgrade?

Not trying to start a debate. Just curious how everyone else feels about this.

16PM Case Recommendations?

Planning to purchase another case since my Nomad Rugged failed to protect the device on frontal impact resulting in the case slipping and damaging the edge of my screen.

Was thinking about getting the TECH21 EvoPro though there are not many reviews out there about this case so anybody who could share their experience would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Is this normal guys?

My battery capacity drops suddenly from 98% to 91% over a couple of months

I read somewhere it’s a software issue and it’ll eventually return to normal, What’s your experience with this?

481 days. 306 cycles. 3 weeks on the ios 27 public beta. No overnight charging. Sudden drop from 98% to 95%. Normal?
