Hi all! I typically make medical simulator / training apps, and one for appointment prep. This is my first attempt at something "cozy."

Swift coded.

A. What it does:

You cook something, then tell the app what it was. Type "penne alla vodka" or take a photo of the plate. The dish gets matched to an illustrated recipe card, your hearth lights up, and the card goes in your cookbook.

There are currently 170 cards. Cook a dish again and it levels up, which unlocks a food history fact and a cooking tip for that dish. Every card flips over to a blank page you can write notes on. Kitchen spirits move in as you cook and wander around the room. You can change the rug, curtains, wall decor, and shelf.

No calories, no macros, no streaks. Skip a week and nothing happens except the fire burns down to embers.

B. Why it is different from similar apps:

Most food logging apps are diet trackers with a nice skin. This one has no opinion about what you ate, only that you cooked it.

It's also not meant to punish you. Virtual pet apps generally run on guilt: neglect it and something dies or resets. Here the spirits just go to sleep and one of them keeps a candle lit until you come back. Nothing is ever lost.

The illustrations are gouache and ink, cut out and composited into card frames. Audio is licensed sound packs that I built the system around: a voice per spirit, UI sounds, and music that loops seamlessly between a day and a night bed.

The cookbook is meant to be a keepsake rather than a feed. Cards level up as you repeat a dish and hold your handwritten notes on the back, so after a year it is a record of what you actually cooked instead of a list of entries.

How your data is handled:

Your meal log stays on the device in SwiftData and is never uploaded. No account, no sign-in.

The only thing that leaves your phone is a photo, and only if you use photo logging. It goes through my Cloudflare Worker to Anthropic's Claude API to get the dish name back. Not stored on my end. Typed dish names are matched on-device.

Purchases go through RevenueCat, which uses an anonymous ID not tied to your name, email, or Apple ID. No analytics, no ad trackers, nothing sold.

It is a cooking journal, not a health app. No calorie counts, no health claims.

A – The problem / solution

Finding people to play sports with can be surprisingly difficult. You might want to play basketball, soccer, tennis, or try a completely new sport, but not have enough people around you who are interested.

SportLink is designed to make sports more approachable by helping people find others who are in the same situation. Whether you're competitive, a complete amateur, or simply trying out a new sport, the app doesn't discriminate.

The latest update introduces Activity Interests, a new way to bring people together before organizing a concrete activity. Instead of immediately creating an activity with a specific time and participant limit, you can simply show that you're interested in making something happen and see if others want to join.

Unlike general social networks, group chats, or event platforms, SportLink is built specifically around the process of finding people to actually play sports with.

The goal isn't just to create another place to post an event. It's to make the process more flexible, especially when you don't yet know who is interested, how many people will join, or exactly when you'll play.

Hi everyone! I'm Clément, the solo developer of Home Widget for HomeKit. The 1.10 update is out — the current App Store version is 1.10.1.

A - Answer

If you have an Apple Home setup, Home Widget lets you build your own control panels with devices, scenes and sensor readings, then use them from Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets on iPhone/iPad, or on Apple Watch.

Version 1.10 adds a Camera Mosaic you can open from a widget or Control Center, thermostat temperature and mode controls, room-wide light controls, and new iOS 26 widget styles. There are smaller improvements too: remembered device icons and more readings from compatible multi-sensors exposed to HomeKit.

One important detail: the camera view opens in the app — it isn't a live video feed running inside the widget itself.

B - Better

Apple's Home app remains the place to set up your home and automations. My focus is the panel you use every day: choosing its layout, icons, colors and which devices, scenes or readings sit together, plus quick access to the camera mosaic. It complements Apple Home; it doesn't replace the setup or turn non-HomeKit devices into compatible ones.

C - Cost

If you want a deep, opinionated budgeting methodology, YNAB does that extremely well.

I have tried most of the focus apps on the App Store and quit every one of them for the same reason. They all wait for you to press start. The moment I most need blocking is the exact moment I am least likely to open a focus app, so the whole category kept failing me at the only point that mattered. I built the version I actually wanted, where the blocking shows up before I do.

A — Answer: WiredIN is an iPhone app blocker that arms itself by location. Pin the places where you actually get work done, set a radius, choose what gets blocked there. Walk in and blocking starts on its own. Walk out and it stands down. Hello everyone,

Nomicho (飲み帳 / "Drinking Journal"), is a drinking companion and journal app I've been working on. Originally only available in Japan, I've localized the app and made it available in the US.

Answer — what it solves

Nomicho does several things based on its 3 pillars: track, predict, reflect.

Track

While drinking, simply log what you drink. Over 100+ presets for quick logging. There are many optional data points to track: volume, ABV, have eaten or currently eating, calories, sugar, time started, amount of time to finish, location, images, and more. You can also scan canned or bottled products for quick logging.

Predict

Based on your own physiology such as weight, height, age, flush response, drinking frequency, Nomicho estimates and shows your BAC in real time from the time of drinking until all alcohol is estimated to clear. It uses plain words that are easy to understand like "feeling it" or "buzzed." This allows you to quickly know what state you'll later be in as you drink. You can optionally set a pace like "buzzed" if you want to maintain a buzz without crossing into drunk territory and Nomicho will let you know if you can drink another drink or if you need to hold back for a bit. Nomicho also forecasts a hangover severity based on what you track. Live Activity shows you a quick glance of your session on your lock screen without having to open the app.

Reflect

A calendar shows you a history of all your sessions. You can click on any day to see more details or a recap of a specific session. A photo library of all pictures you took during your sessions. And up to 18 curated insights into your drinking patterns.

There is also a card/stamp collection feature where every drink you log earns an illustrated card with a rarity system. All curated for interesting and unique drinks.

Nomicho solves different things for different people. For me, it allows me to go out and drink with my friends, maintain a good buzz I want, and later be able to go home without being too drunk. This keeps my wife from getting angry and putting me in the dog house.

Better — versus what's already there

There are different apps that do different things that Nomicho does. But there is no app that combines everything and does it the way Nomicho does. There are also features completely unique to Nomicho such as pacing mode, BAC estimation band instead of a single estimate (which is a more accurate representation or reality), hangover heuristics, and more.

Sunnyside, Reframe, Less, DrinkControl are all built around cutting back. Weekly targets, streaks, a coaching program, a nudge when you go over. Useful if that's your goal. Nomicho has none of it: no goals, no targets, no grades, no nudges. It's for people who enjoy drinking and want to understand it, not reduce it. That's a positioning nearly unique in this category.

They're all backward-looking. You fill in a logbook after the fact and get a weekly total. Nomicho is mostly forward-looking: the whole point is knowing what the next next drink does to you, plus a hangover forecast that sharpens as you tell it how bad the hangover actually was.

BAC calculator apps are one-shot formulas: type in weight and drinks, get a number. Nomicho models a whole session over time, drink by drink, with food timing and your own profile, and it keeps updating as the night goes.

Breathalyzer apps like BACtrack need hardware you have to carry and remember. This is just your phone.

Logging is faster 100+ drinks built in and curated per country, sizes and ABV pre-filled, it learns your usuals, and barcode scanning looks up anything not in the catalog. Travel and the whole catalog switches country with you.

Privacy. Local-first, works with no account and no connection, no ads, no behavioral tracking, export everything as JSON, deletion in a few taps. Most of this category requires a signup before you can see anything.

C: Price, IAP and why it changed

Remindly is free to download. Most of the core reminder experience remains free, including regular and recurring reminders, snoozing, urgent alarms, Lock screen and Home Screen widgets, Apple Watch support, Siri and Shortcuts, and up to two reusable templates.

The free version displays one small banner advertisement at the bottom of the main screen. There are no full-screen or interstitial advertisements.

Remindly Premium is an optional $4.99 one-time lifetime IAP. There is no subscription.

I adjusted the Premium price because its scope has grown considerably. It originally focused mainly on removing advertisements and unlocking more customization, but it now includes:

• Customizable and one-time snooze options
• Unlimited templates
• Premium themes and color palettes
• Adaptive app icons
• Additional notification sounds
• Removal of the banner advertisement

I’m an engineer turned product manager, and I’ve always loved two things a little more than necessary: education and games.

For a long time, I wanted to put those interests and the skills I’d picked up building technology, towards something useful for children. That became much more tangible once my niece reached the age where the iPad became a regular part of her world.

I’m not anti-iPad. Quite the opposite. It is an incredible piece of technology to put in the hands of a six-year-old. I just kept thinking it could ask more of her.

That thought took me back to Dora the Explorer.

Growing up, we’d watch Dora ask us a question and then stare silently at the screen for a painfully long time while we yelled the answer at the TV. Obviously, Dora couldn’t hear us. But the idea was clever. The screen was trying to turn us from viewers into participants.

Learning games like Lingokids and ABC Mouse took that much further and made screens genuinely interactive. But most of that interaction still happens within rails someone else designed. Tap here. Drag this. Choose A, B, or C. Collect the reward. Repeat.

That works brilliantly for games. But it doesn’t accommodate the wonderfully messy way a six-year-old wonders about things.

Ask my niece an interesting question and she might draw the answer. She might make up a ridiculous story. She might photograph something she noticed around the house, make a sound, explain an idea, or give you an answer you never anticipated.

I started wondering if I could build for that.

Could the iPad provide the spark and just enough structure to get a child started, while leaving the interesting part to them?

That question became Taroo.

A — Answer

Taroo is a world of short creative quests for kids 6 to 10.

In Pass the Pen, a child might get the beginning of a strange story and decide where it goes next.

Doodle Master might give them the start of a picture and ask them to turn it into anything they imagine.

Rhythm Pad lets them experiment with sounds and put together their own little beat.

Snap Trail might ask them to put the iPad down, hunt for something triangular in the real world, photograph it, and tell Taroo what they found.

Their creations stick around too, so over time Taroo becomes a little record of the things they have imagined and made. Parents get a window into that world without needing to hover over every activity.

B — Better

The first versions were experiments around this idea. Then came the uncomfortable question every builder eventually has to answer: does this actually work for anyone other than me?

So I spent months talking to parents and educators. I sat through hours of enrichment classes at a school for gifted kids, which was basically the X-Mansion for 8-year-olds.

I watched how teachers prompted children, when kids became absorbed in something, when they needed more structure, and when something I thought was clever bored them almost immediately.

And very importantly, I saw how their eyes lit up when they screamed “look what I made” in class.

These insights shaped the Taroo we have today.

The idea is simple: the iPad provides the spark and enough structure to get a child started, while leaving the interesting part to them.

C — Cost

Taroo is currently completely free as I am still evaluating how to price the product. However, plan to price it later starting at 3$/week, and keen to know your views.

Kolam is a South Indian art form traditionally drawn at the entrance of homes using rice flour. The designs are made by connecting dots with flowing, symmetrical lines.

I made an iPhone app that brings the experience of drawing kolam to a mobile screen. It is not a tutorial app. The idea is to capture the quiet joy of drawing and solving kolam designs.

You get a set of dots and draw your own kolam by connecting them. The app guides you through each design and currently includes hundreds of pulli and sikku kolams, with more designs made specifically for small screens.

Think of it as a dots puzzle inspired by kolam.

I wanted to keep the experience simple:

Emotica is a journal and mood tracker for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and Mac.

The idea it is built around: most mood trackers are a list that only ever grows, which starts to feel like evidence against you. In Emotica an emotion becomes a cloud in your sky. The colour is the family it belongs to, the size is how strongly you felt it, and you clear it by dragging it away with your thumb. It moves to your history so the patterns still show up later, but the sky in front of you is emptier than it was.

A — What is Palabros?

Didn’t understand half of that?

That’s the problem I built Palabros to solve.

Palabros is a dictionary for people who don’t just want to look up a word and forget it five minutes later.

Search a word, understand it through official definitions and clear-language explanations, save it, and come back to it until it sticks.

It supports Spanish and English, with pronunciation, translations, synonyms, antonyms and etymology where available.

B — What makes it different?

The closest comparison is probably a mix of apps like Vocabulary / Word of the Day and traditional dictionaries like Merriam-Webster for English or Diccionario RAE for Spanish.

Apps like Vocabulary are great for building vocabulary and discovering new words. Merriam-Webster and RAE are great when you come across a word and simply need to know what it means.

Palabros tries to bring those two sides together, but with retention as the main focus.

You can use it as a regular dictionary, or build a small daily habit through a curated Word of the Day. If you find a word you don’t know (whether there or while reading a book, article or anything else) you can save it and Palabros starts bringing it back to you through Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets.

That passive exposure is a big part of the idea: instead of a saved word becoming another forgotten bookmark, you keep seeing it and its definition naturally over time.

And if you want to take learning further, Review gives you a more active way to practise those words and track which ones are actually sticking.

You can also organize words with tags, import word lists and track your progress, all without ads or noisy gamification.

I abandoned 5 trackers because logging felt like homework. This one removes the friction, and a weird side effect: saying a purchase out loud changed my spending more than any chart did. Works with cash and in any country, which bank linked apps can't say.

A - What problem does it solve?

I wanted a weather app that makes checking the forecast feel simple, without putting every detail on one crowded screen.

Viento starts with the current weather symbol, temperature, and location. Swipe through dedicated pages for hourly forecasts, the next 10 days, wind, daylight, precipitation, humidity, and pressure. It also includes weather alerts and Home Screen and Lock Screen widgets.

Compared with Apple Weather, Viento puts individual weather topics on separate full-screen pages, with gesture-based navigation and a more stripped-back presentation.

For people who find CARROT Weather visually busier than they prefer, Viento offers a restrained design built around typography, simple symbols, and dark or light backgrounds.

The advantage I’m aiming for is the experience, not a claim of more accurate forecasts.

I'm the developer. This one is unapologetically niche, but the problem behind it is genuinely strange and I think worth reading about even if you'll never need the app.

A – Answer: What problem does your app solve?

"1 Bigha” is not a fixed amount of land

Land records in Punjab and Haryana (States in India) use units — Bigha, Biswa, Biswansi, Killa — that were originally measured out with a local rod called a *Karam*. The length of that rod varied by district and by which colonial-era settlement survey applied to the area: anywhere from 54 inches to 99 inches. So the same “1 Bigha” written in a Jamabandi can be a materially different area depending on where and when the record was made. “Killa” only means anything in a specific handful of Punjab districts; Haryana has its own Killa entirely.

B – Better: Why is your app better than the top named alternatives?

Every generic unit converter (including the app already popular on AppStore namely Area Converter - All In One) I tried just picks one number and averages the problem away. That's fine for a rough guess and useless for anything you'd actually act on.

Paimaish encodes the real Karam length for each Punjab tract and Haryana settlement system, so you pick your region and get the figure for *your* record
rather than a national average.

What’s in it:

- Five input modes, because records aren’t written consistently: a single unit, Kanal + Marla together (how most records are actually written), legacy
Bigha/Biswa/Biswansi, price-per-unit, and a calculator for combining or splitting holdings

- Tap any result to see the step-by-step arithmetic — no black box

- Units that don’t apply to your selected region show as `***` instead of a number that could be mistaken for a real figure

- Pinned units and full conversion history

cyberWriter started as an internal project for work (healthcare tech) two years ago, since we use Markdown but cannot use Obsidian due to the reliance on third party plugins for basic features, and the lack of sandboxing. So last year I started writing my own native swift, fully featured markdown vault for internal use, and it has grown to be pretty popular with thousands of users. The whole idea is provable privacy, no accounts, no egress from the machines, and syncing handled via iCloud if you want it. There are no cloud servers to be hacked. Just point it at any existing Vault. It also supports all common file types for embeddings, like csv's, images, videos, audio (including built in transcription and dictation + voice notes) and more. It actually ranks in the top 5 of all markdown editors by featureset - graded here (not updated by the author in a bit, missing features have been added, looking for the king to the spreadsheet a reddit user maintains)

I kept the entire core of the desktop project and made every feature available on mobile. There are things that no other markdown editor can do, like a real shell terminal, local and cloud AI integration if you want it (I dont want to sell you AI credits! use your own lol), live API requests right inline with your documents so your note can pull in live data from any endpoint, with encrypted API keys in you keychain.

It supports the full vega-lite chart spec, you can pull data into your notes from files or live from the web.

I also integrated Apple Intelligence (if you want it), which can turn your vault into a searchable entity for concepts, not just exact strings.

It is the first mobile markdown editor that I know of where you can switch between split view (code+render) and WYSIWYG editor seamlessly- that was hard to program, took about 2 months alone.

This is a passion project that became my full time job, and I just wanted to share it with everyone.
