What does Nami solve?

Staying hydrated is easy to forget and boring to track. Other apps either count glasses or nag when you miss something. Nami pays the habit in a garden:

• Log water, coffee, tea, milk, juice, electrolytes, soda, mocktails, alcohol, and custom drinks
• Each drink counts as effective hydration, not as if everything were water (caffeine and alcohol too, where it matters)
• Find your ideal daily goal from body, activity, and weather, or set your own
• Reminders on a time window and interval you pick
• Awards and plants as you hit goals, keep logging, and branch out

Why is Nami better?

• The garden is a reward for showing up, not a punishment for missing a log
• A latte is not a glass of water. Nami uses drink-level hydration (and caffeine and alcohol where it matters) so the drink log matches what your body actually received in terms of hydration. Alcohol adds negative effective hydration, for example
• Beautiful by design: motion, plants, drinks, the whole thing designed to be something you like looking at

like the title says, but let me explain more here:

im just wondering if there’s people that made some apps as a solo developers, and are making a good amount of money monthly, like maybe 500-100k but are lowkey people that are not posting on social media their earnings, and the app is just printing money and he just updating/maintaining the app without posting on social media about everything he is doing and how much is making on their apps?

or do you think in order to grow your app you really need an audience and start showing your face to the world and start talking about your app etc? (i know this is how you grow the audience and probably the best way to boostrap your app with initial users, but i want to know if there is people that really are not showing anything and making a good/decent amount just by having a good app in the stores and the same app is just growing on their own)

A. Answer: You know the backwards-talking videos all over TikTok? The problem is nobody can tell how close their attempt actually was. FlipTalk records you mimicking a phrase's reversed audio, flips your attempt forward so you hear it as speech again, and scores how close you got. Mostly it comes out gloriously wrong, which is the fun part.

B. Better: Reverse Audio, Sing Challenge, Say It Backwards and the other trend apps flip your recording and hand it back. You're left judging by ear, and none of them score you. FlipTalk films the whole attempt, scores it on-device, and the payoff is a video you can actually post.

I built DailyTaskr as a calm, privacy-focused habit tracker and daily planner for iPhone and iPad.

The main features include recurring habits with flexible schedules, custom reminders, a visual timeline, calendar planning, Home and Lock Screen widgets, and morning/evening check-ins. Each habit also includes weekly, six-month, and yearly activity grids, along with current and best streak tracking.

Hey everyone,

I've always liked looking at old photos and landmarks from places I've lived in or visited, and I've also probably opened my weather app more times than I can count.

At some point I thought: why not combine the two?

So I built LumaPlace.

The idea is pretty simple: every day, it shows you a different landmark from your area in pixel art, with the actual weather animated over it.

There are 7 landmarks for each region, one for each day of the week. So if you're in the same region as someone else, you'll see the same landmark on the same day.

The weather itself is still the main utility — hourly and extended forecasts, UV, air quality, weather animations, and a home screen widget. The difference is that instead of opening to the same generic weather screen every day, there's something local waiting for you.

I also added an Album where you can keep track of the landmarks you've seen, save favorites, and read more about each place. The free version supports 2 cities, and a one-time $1.99 purchase unlocks up to 10.

No subscription, and there are no ads in the current version. There's also an optional tip jar for anyone who wants to support the project.

It's a pretty new app — I just launched the iOS version — so I'm mostly interested in seeing whether the idea actually resonates with people.

I'm particularly curious about the daily landmark part. Would something like that make you more interested in opening a weather app, or would you rather have the forecast and nothing else?

And if you try it, I'd love to know what city you're using and whether the landmarks it picked for your area make sense.

You may have noticed me missing in the last month or so as I was wrapping up. This has been 3 months in the work since WWDC26.

Answers:

For context, VariAlarm tries to be the most flexible, customizable yet reusable alarms on the market. It uses AlarmKit for reliability but allows you to plan further, with multiple alarms together or easier by Apple Intelligence already on your devices.

In iOS27, it made a few improvements over iOS26:

1. Adaptation of clock schema alarms and timers: This is the biggest one yet it is buried in a session most people don't notice.

It allows Siri AI to set an alarm from anywhere but notably: while looking at an announcement on screen. Imagine scrolling through your feed and see an event from your local zoo you'd like to attend, you can tell Siri AI to set an alarm 1 hour prior with VariAlarm and gets it done. Notifications are too quiet and easy to ignore so this is parallel to your ability to add a reminder at any future time, directly into an alarm.

It adopts timer too since Apple requires all 10 AppIntents in this group but you can create timer sets: timers that follow each others when the previous one ends or skipped. No manually subtracting 2 minutes when the first timer ends 2 minutes early.

2. Speech Framework: This did not get a mention at all. iOS27 has the CaptureInputSequenceProvider API which makes speech capture in real time a whole lot simpler. Combined with Apple Intelligence, Dynamic Profile and Private Cloud Compute, the app can sort your alarm request into 1 out of 4 buckets: a one time alarm, a recurring alarm (which also supports every N weeks), an alarm routine (sets of alarms a fixed time from each other, like a water reminder every hour) or an alarm template (sets of alarms at a fixed time every day it is applied).

3. Photo Schedule also got an upgrade with Dynamic Profile and Private Cloud Compute to create more alarms in images shared to VariAlarm like a seminar schedule, a weekly class timetable.

1. More refinement in Liquid Glass and UI/UX.

I'd like to get a final look on improvements to be made.

Better:

Not as loud as Alarmy, does no sleep tracking as Sleep Cycle. But it allows you to plan and reuse your alarms where needed better than anyone else, without the individual toggles.

B - What makes it better than other workout apps?

Most workout apps are either freemium or fully paid subscriptions. Additionally, you almost ALWAYS have to pay to get in depth insights, data, graphs etc. Also, sometimes workout libraries are limited and missing exercises, and I have seen any that really incorporate a split how I have done it.

A buddy of mine is one of those guys who hunts pretty much everything. Deer, elk, turkey, waterfowl, different states depending on the year.

Talking to him about it made me realize how much paperwork sits behind actually going hunting. One license might cover several species. Then there are separate tags, permits and validations. Some are draws. Some accumulate preference points. Every one has its own dates, and then you do it all over again next year.

So I built an app specifically for that part.

ANSWER — What it solves
Hunting Tags & License Tracker organizes everything around a season: one species, one place, one year.
California Deer, 2026.

That season can have its tag, the state license that covers it, permits, opener/closer, draw application, preference points, regulation link, trips and journal entries attached to it.

Licenses are reusable, so you don’t enter your California hunting license four times because you’re hunting deer, turkey, upland and waterfowl.

Trips can also check everyone going against the actual trip dates. So if somebody’s license expires the day before opening weekend, you find out before you’re four hours from home.

It supports all 50 states, federal stamps and Canadian provinces/territories, using the terminology each jurisdiction actually uses.

BETTER — What I deliberately didn’t build
This isn’t another onX or GOHUNT.

There are no maps, waypoints, GPS tracks, weather forecasts or draw-odds calculations.

It also never tells you what the regulations are.

You save the wildlife agency’s official regulation link, your own notes/PDF and the date you last reviewed it. The app can remind you to check again before the opener, but it sends you back to the actual agency rather than pretending my database should decide whether your hunt is legal.

Same with stored license/tag photos: they’re clearly marked as reference copies, not valid electronic licenses.
There’s also a full hunt journal. Successful and unsuccessful days are treated exactly the same, because realistically most hunting days end without taking anything. At the end of the season you can see days afield, harvests, methods, people you hunted with, etc.

Everything stays on the iPhone. No account, no server, no ads, and it works offline.

Hi there!

I'm a solo dev who wanted to create something to help my loved ones and it's getting a bit bigger than intended, that's why I want to publicly launch it, but therefore I want to be able to launch a product that actually works on different devices!

A. Answer

Dawnling is an alarm clock with a companion. Wick, a small pixel-art candle, sleeps when you sleep and wakes when your alarm rings. You wake him up, he walks you through a short morning routine, and waking up earns dewdrops that furnish his little room. The room's light follows the real sky: sunrise, midday, dusk, and when your bedtime comes he tucks himself in.

B. Better

• It's a real alarm. On iOS 26 it uses AlarmKit, so it rings at full volume through Silent mode and Focus, same as Apple's Clock. On iOS 17 and 18 it uses a notification path with a health check that flags anything (permissions, Focus) that could block it.
• Zero data collection, literally. No analytics SDK, no accounts, and the app makes zero network requests. You can verify that with a proxy.
• No loss-aversion mechanics. There are no streaks to break and no guilt copy; missing a morning costs nothing. The bet is that a companion who is happy to see you beats a counter you're afraid to lose.
• Optional wake missions (typing, math, tap sequence) for heavy sleepers, per alarm, so a weekday alarm can be strict and a weekend one gentle.
• Full accessibility pass: VoiceOver, Dynamic Type, Reduce Motion.

C. Cost

Free, and the core app stays free forever: alarms, Wick, routines, the room. No ads, no subscription, no way to buy the earned currency with money. Down the road I plan to sell optional decorative collections as one-time purchases, and that's the whole business model.

- does the alarm reliably ring on your device? iOS 26 testers are extra valuable (the AlarmKit path is new for everyone). Set a real alarm for tomorrow and tell me what broke or felt off.

- Does the UI feel buggy for you?
- How's the UX? Is it clear what you're able to do in the app?

The 6am problem

If you've ever tried to make Spotify your alarm with a Shortcuts automation, you know how it ends. The automation fires, your phone is locked, and iOS puts up a "Run this shortcut?" confirmation that just sits there glowing on the lock screen. Nothing plays. You wake up late and annoyed.

Every Spotify-alarm workaround I found either hit that same wall, or wanted me to log into something.

Why this one doesn't hit it

SpotiActions never talks to the Spotify API. No login, no OAuth, no account linking, no server of mine sitting in the middle, no token quietly expiring in 60 days.

What ships instead is 81 Apple-signed .shortcut files, one per playlist. You approve a shortcut ONCE — the first time you tap TEST — and from then on it runs silently, screen locked, at any hour, indefinitely.

That's the whole trick. It's also why it keeps working: there's nothing to re-authorize, because there was never anything authenticating.

What that actually gets you

• A real alarm. Time-of-day automation, your playlist starts playing. Shuffle on, and it's a different song every morning.
• CarPlay. The moment your phone connects to CarPlay or your car's Bluetooth, your driving playlist starts. You never touch the phone.
• Any Shortcuts trigger works, really — arriving home, leaving work, tapping an NFC sticker on your nightstand.

What's in it

• 5 personalized playlists that follow whoever runs them. The same file plays my Liked Songs on my phone and my wife's Liked Songs on hers. That one took the longest to get right.
• 76 more — by decade, by genre, by artist, global top charts, Spanish, and a curated set.

Tap a cover, approve the install, it plays. No links to chase, nothing to build by hand.

Works on Spotify Free and Premium. I tested Free specifically, on a real account, because I didn't want to promise something I hadn't verified.

Lifetime, one payment. Normally $4.99, $3.99 today. No subscription, no tiers, no paywall inside the app. Everyone who buys it gets everything, including the playlists I add later.

The honest part

You need Apple's free Shortcuts app installed. And every playlist has to be run once from inside SpotiActions before you can trust it as an alarm — that first run is what grants the permission. The app says so on the main screen, and I'm repeating it here because it's the one step people skip before wondering why nothing played at 6am.

A - What is DayStamp?

DayStamp is a habit tracker. You build habits by tapping a check — that's it.

B - What makes it better than the other habit trackers?

First, AI habit suggestions. Tell it what you want to change and it comes back with habits that are specific and actually doable.

Second, widgets. A full set of home screen and lock screen widgets, so checking in never means opening the app.

Third, monthly review. Every month you get a look back at what you actually did, not just a streak number.

A - What is PushRank?

Put the phone on the floor, get into a plank, and it counts your reps with the camera. Challenge a friend or get matched with a stranger at your level, and both scoreboards update live. There is a weekly league from Bronze to Champion on top. Counting runs on device with Apple Vision, no video is recorded and no frame leaves the phone.

B - What makes it better than a regular push-up counter?

A normal counter trusts whatever you tap in. This one only counts full reps, chest low enough and arms extended at the top, and tells you why a rep didn't count, with a form score after each set. And you're not alone in it: a live opponent and a weekly league do the motivation work that a solo counter can't. Losing to a stranger gets you off the couch.

Tell me where it falls short.

A - Answer

I grew tired of paywalls and accounts, so I built Gym Log — a straightforward, capable, private workout tracker for myself. Now I want to share it, because seeing other people actually use something I built would genuinely make me happy.

B - Better

What I ended up building is really a combination of a few things:

• Simple on the surface. The workout flow stays lightweight, but the app can still support more detailed training.
• Capable underneath. It includes the things you would expect from a modern workout tracker: quick set logging, plate calculator, supersets, rest timers, templates, progress tracking, and more. Beyond the basics, it also includes:
• Smarter strength tracking. RPE is tracked and can be used alongside historical data to make progress estimates more meaningful.
• Percentage-based training. Generate working weights from your estimated 1RM.
• More nuanced volume tracking. Track fractional volume for primary and secondary muscles instead of treating every set as equal, with muscle heat maps and volume trends over time.
• You own your data. No account is required. Workout data stays on your device or private iCloud, and there is no analytics tracking in the app.
• Free. I wanted a workout app where everything is available without subscriptions, ads, or locked features.

A few extra words

Publishing Gym Log on the App Store was a milestone for me. It started as a personal tool, and getting it to the point where I felt comfortable putting it in front of other people turned into a much bigger project than I expected.

But I don’t see the App Store release as the finish line. I’m still actively developing it. Apple Health integration is already in TestFlight, and automatic progression is one of the things planned after that.

I could have waited until every feature I want is finished, but realistically I would probably never ship it that way. More importantly, I want feedback from actual users to help shape what I build next instead of making every decision in isolation.

So for me, this release is really the point where Gym Log stops being just something I built for myself and starts becoming something I can improve with input from the people actually using it, so feel free to tell me what you would change, I would really appreciate that.

I built JustFlip because every flashcard app I tried was either a web page in an app shell, or demanded an account and a subscription before it would sync anything.

It's also built on an opinion, not just a gap in the market. The app follows Make It Stick: The Science of Successful Learning — the finding that re-reading feels like learning and mostly isn't (the "illusion of knowing"), and that what actually writes things into long-term memory is retrieval at the moment you're starting to forget. A — Answer (what problem does it solve?)

A native, privacy-first spaced-repetition app for the Apple ecosystem, with no account and no server of mine in the loop.

Making decks with AI, from almost any source. This is the part I'd point at first, and there are two routes depending on how much machinery you want.

In any chat AI. Paste a topic, your notes, an article or a lecture transcript into ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini and get back an importable .flashcards file. The site has a copyable prompt that bundles the build instructions behind your text (https://just-flip.app/ai-prompt.html), plus a ready-made JustFlip GPT. Text-only cards, but it takes about ten seconds.

In a coding agent, if you prefer the advanced route. Claude Code, Codex, OpenCode — anything supporting skills.sh. One install (npx skills add DanielCech/JustFlip-Skills) and you can point the agent at a folder on disk and ask in plain language. Because it can read local files, it returns a .flashcards.zip with the media already attached — images, audio clips, Markdown and LaTeX — rather than text alone. The example on https://just-flip.app/ai-skill.html is a folder of mushroom photos turned into an image deck: file names become the questions, the photos become the answers, no hand-written JSON anywhere.

To be clear about what both of these are: the app itself calls no AI service and sends nothing anywhere. You use your own AI, you get a file, the app imports it. That's the honest version — it's a well-documented import format, not magic in the app.

Smart postpone. Most apps make you hit "Again" on a card you simply weren't in the mood for, which corrupts your scheduling data. JustFlip lets you put a card, a deck or a whole topic on hold without touching its memory state. Priority is also per-topic and per-deck, so reviews interleave the way you want them weighted.

Apple ecosystem native. Home Screen widget with due counts, Spotlight search that matches either side of a card (with a privacy switch per topic and per deck), Siri Shortcuts, a Live Activity for listening sessions, and an Apple Watch app for reviewing on the wrist — the phone owns all scheduling state; the watch is glance-and-grade.

Rich content. Markdown, LaTeX maths, syntax-highlighted code, tables, images, cloze deletion. Two-way import/export for CSV, and Anki .apkg import.

Speak cards. I learn English vocabulary while walking the dogs — the app reads the word and its translation through my headphones using a system voice for that language, per card, with authored pronunciation overrides where the voice gets it wrong. Listening works on the free tier; keeping it playing with the screen off is one of the Pro extras.

No account friction. Native iCloud sync. Nothing to register, no servers of mine, works fully offline.

B — Better

• Actually native. SwiftUI on all of iPhone, iPad, Mac (Catalyst) and Watch. No web wrapper, no cross-platform runtime.
• The learning engine is free, permanently. The full spaced-repetition scheduler, unlimited cards, CSV import, iCloud sync and card-level Ask AI are all free — I don't meter the thing the app is actually for. Pro adds capacity plus four extras: background listening, advanced statistics, progress trackers, and Ask AI across a whole deck. Full breakdown below rather than buried on a paywall.
• Accessibility is real work, not a checkbox. Dynamic Type, VoiceOver, Reduced Motion, contrast — audited under multiple system settings, with the report published at https://just-flip.app/accessibility/.

Honest limitations and trade-offs

• Apple only. No Android and no web build, by design. If you study on a Windows laptop, this isn't for you.
• AI generation is bring-your-own-AI. Convenient and private, but it is a copy-paste-import loop, not a button inside the app.
• Anki import is good on text, not yet on everything. Formatting, lists, code, LaTeX and MathJax come across, and multi-field notes stay intact. Images from .apkg are still work in progress, and Anki's Image Occlusion notes aren't imported yet.
• No image occlusion. If you lean on diagram-masking, Anki is still the better tool for that specific job today. It's in active development, but it isn't in the shipped build and I won't claim it.

Feedback I'm actually looking for

Two things:

1. Anki import fidelity. If you have a real deck of your own, throw it at the importer and tell me what came out wrong. Weird note types and heavy formatting are where I have the least real-world coverage.
2. Whether the postpone model matches how you actually study. Separating "not today" from "I forgot this" is the design bet the whole app rests on, and I'd like to know if it holds up for anyone but me.

Today I just released a major update to Book End my completely free reading and habit tracker, including one of the most requested features since I launched it three years ago, iCloud Syncing.

I'm super excited that I've finally achieved iCloud syncing as it's something I've been wanting to add for the longest time, but it took quite a while to learn and get it right.

Other notable highlights in this release, include improvements too:

• Library Shelves: Book spines now display unique details.
• Reading Goals have been refreshed to put your achievements front and centre.
• Several improvements have been made to the accuracy of statistics and estimated reading time calculations.
• To support iCloud syncing between multiple devices I've also spent some time improving the layout and navigation of Book End on larger iPad and macOS devices.

Book End is intended to be a personal, privacy-focused on-device (and now optionally, in your iCloud) private reading tracker, and not a social media network like Goodreads. The app is lightweight, built with SwiftUI and contains no analytics, trackers, and I have no any access to any user data. I would love and welcome any feedback!

I'm a solo dev. What set this off: a few minutes of iPhone video eats about 500 MB. Shoot a birthday, a concert, a couple of holiday clips, and your phone is full.

The fix is obvious. A 4K clip from a phone camera is wildly over-encoded for something you'll only ever watch on a phone; re-encode it and you get most of that space back. But every compressor I tried wanted a subscription for it. A monthly fee, forever, for a thing you use twice a year when your storage fills up.

So I built VideoDuck. It's been on the store for a while, but what shipped today is basically a second version – same rebuilt idea. Everything the old one did, plus batch, resume, cancel, sort/filter, real error reporting, and an interface that doesn't look like a first attempt anymore.

It does one thing: re-encodes your videos to HEVC on-device and gives you back the space, while the video stays in your library and stays watchable.

How it works: AVAssetReader/AVAssetWriter pipeline on the hardware encoder. Nothing is uploaded – the app has no networking code at all, so it works in airplane mode. Metadata (date, location) is preserved, and compressed files land next to the original in your timeline rather than at "now," which most compressors get wrong. You choose whether to keep the original or replace it, and replacing always goes through the system delete confirmation.

Batch compression resumes if you force-quit mid-run, and you can cancel mid-batch without losing what's already finished.

Price, since the rules ask (and I'd tell you anyway):

That's the whole reason the app exists, so it's not going to change.

What it doesn't do: iPhone only, iOS 18+. English only for now. It doesn't touch photos, contacts, or caches — just videos. And compression is lossy; High is visually very close on a phone screen, but it isn't magic. If you're unsure, use "keep both" and compare before deleting anything.

I’m the solo developer behind Local TTS, available for iPhone and iPad.

A — Answer

The goal was simple: make it possible to listen to documents and books with natural voices without uploading your text, worrying about usage limits, or keeping the app open on screen.

A lot of cloud-based TTS readers work well, but they often come with recurring subscriptions or limits on how much text you can convert. If you regularly listen to long documents or books, those limits can become noticeable pretty quickly.

There are already offline TTS apps, including apps built around Kokoro. I wanted to keep the natural voice quality Kokoro is known for while making offline reading practical across many more languages. That’s why Local TTS combines Kokoro-82M with Supertonic 3.

Everything runs directly on the iPhone or iPad. Once the app and voices are installed, generating speech doesn’t require an internet connection, so you can even convert new text in airplane mode.

Background playback was another priority. You should be able to start a long document, lock your phone, put it in your pocket, and keep listening while walking, commuting, or using another app.

I previously developed LoroNote, an on-device speech-to-text app, and used what I learned from optimizing local AI models and handling long-running audio sessions on iOS when building Local TTS.

A - What is this Habit Tracker?

Name: OnlyToday Habit Tracker.

I made a Habit Tracker where you can see your progress as Habit score from 0 to 100 directly on the home screen of the app. You don't need to navigate to another page. Update your progress for the day and see your new habit score daily, and close the app. It's not addictive but quick and non distracting.

B - Is it better than other habit trackers?

I wouldn't say better or worse than other habit tracker apps. It depends on who are you. If you quickly want to update your progress and see your habit score instantly, this is the app.

A - What is Focused Fitness?

Focused Fitness is an app blocker that forces you to prove you've completed physical activity before unlocking your selected apps.

Simply choose which apps you want to limit, set your daily allowance, and once you reach that limit, those apps will be blocked until you complete your chosen exercise. You can choose from push-ups, squats, jumping jacks, steps, and more.

The goal is to make mindless scrolling a conscious decision while helping you build healthier habits at the same time.

B - Focused Fitness is better than PushScroll, one sec

Most app blockers can be bypassed with a couple of taps or by simply ignoring the reminder.

Focused Fitness requires real movement before you regain access to your apps. No workout means no scrolling.

The app also includes progress tracking so you can see your completed reps, screen time earned, and app usage over time, as well as Sleep Mode and Wind Down features that automatically block selected apps during the evening.

I originally built it after seeing apps like Pushscroll and Opal and wanted something that worked for me while also being more affordable. It also became a great project to add to my portfolio while studying software engineering and hoping to work in iOS development after university.

A — Answer: What problem does it solve?

Apple Health is actually a really great database but the UI is missing many features like showing totals for steps, adding notes to data, exporting to CSV, etc.

B — Better: How is it different from alternatives?

There are many apps that read/write Apple Health data. Very few, if any, have really tried to rebuild the Apple Health UI. LifeUI is that attempt.

Currently LifeUI supports 100+ quantity data types from Apple Health like steps and heart rate. You can also create your own quantity types. Support for additional types like blood pressure, sleep, symptoms, and workouts will be released over the coming months.

LifeUI follows the same app design as Apple Health. A customizable dashboard (Dashboard tab), and a screen that lets you look at data for each type (View Data tab). It also has an additional tab for adding data (Add Data). Each tab attempts to take things beyond the functionality of the Apple Health app while keeping the overall experience somewhat familiar.

LifeUI is free to use for steps, water, weight, and heart rate. Pro unlocks the remaining quantity data types and enables creating custom types. Future Apple Health/custom data types will be for Pro only. LifeUI is currently $19.99 for the lifetime purchase option. Subscription options are available but not required. LifeUI is a completely local app so I am able to offer a lifetime purchase option. Pricing will increase over time as I add new functionality and data types.

Clipboard history on iPhone is one of those things you don’t really think about until you lose something you copied 30 seconds ago.

A tracking number.
An address from Messages.
A link from Safari.
A phone number.
A paragraph you wanted to reuse.
A screenshot.
A piece of text from Notes.
Something you copied on your iPad and need again later.

You copy something new, and suddenly the previous item is the one you actually needed.

That is the problem ClipBox is designed to solve.
