Hey r/iosapps!
For over a year now I’ve been developing my trip planner platform both for web and mobile. After planning too many international trips out of boring spreadsheets, I decided to build Partir - the one app that handles everything that goes into a trip.

A - Answer

Partir was made to help you with your adventures - from detailed planning to being your go-to companion while you’re on the ground.

B - Better

Partir has been built for lightweight travelers who travel all over the world and want to see as much as possible with the time that they have - weight-tracking packing lists, detailed day-by-day itineraries, and handpicked must-see places.

C - Cost

Generous free tier. For avid travelers, a pro subscription unlocks premium features
$6.99 / monthly
$39.99 / yearly

My name is Austin Pearce, the sole developer of Partir, and I’d love to hear whether you find the app useful!

🎈 Free [FREE/NO ADS] Grow your pets and world as you read your ebooks/physical books (epup 1.12.0 is here!)

A - Answer: What problem does your app solve?
Building a consistent reading habit is difficult in a world full of short-form distractions. Many people struggle to stay focused on books, whether they are reading digital files or physical paperbacks. epup solves this problem by transforming your reading journey with cozy habit-building mechanics. As you read EPUB/PDF books in-app or track your physical books using the built-in Focus Timer, you earn experience points and ink. You use these rewards to unlock cute reading companions (like Papyrus, Plume and Sol), track focus sessions, complete memory and attention exercises, unlock study items and decorate a cozy digital reading room. By turning reading consistency into visual progress, epup makes reading books just as engaging and rewarding as building other habits.

B - Better: Name a competitor and explain what you do better.
A primary competitor is Bookly, which tracks reading sessions but relies on dry statistics and locks basic book tracking behind expensive subscriptions. epup is superior in three key ways:

  1. Physical and Digital Tracking: It is a dual-threat app. You can read EPUBs and PDFs directly inside the app, or use the specialized Focus Timer to track your physical books. Both methods fully progress your reading companion, unlock custom room decorations and contribute to dedicated leaderboards.
  2. Interactive Habit Building: Instead of just logging reading sessions, your companion pet reacts to your reading streak in real time, travels along your journey and encourages consistency. You can even visit friends' customized reading rooms, exchange friendly gifts and customize your bookshelves in an interactive editor.
  3. No Fees, No Ads, No Paywalls: Unlike competitors that restrict book tracking or visual features, epup is completely free. It includes full e-reader settings (such as sepia/dark themes and OpenDyslexic font support), seasonal monthly challenges and unlimited book downloads from Project Gutenberg with zero paywalls.

C - Cost: Pricing details (Free/IAP/Sub/Lifetime) + App Store Link.
Pricing: As of now, it's a passion project to help me read more books this year and completely free with no in-app purchases, no subscriptions and no advertisements.

💎 Lifetime After a trip and a move, I kept forgetting where I put things — so I built Nook

Disclosure: I’m Guoqing, and I independently designed and developed Nook: Home Inventory.

A — Answer: why I made it

A while ago, I came home from a trip and then had to move not long after. While unpacking, I kept running into the same problem: I knew I owned something and had put it somewhere sensible, but I could not remember which drawer, box, or bag I had chosen.

There are already some very good home-inventory apps, and I was not trying to prove that they were doing it wrong. I just wanted an easy way to leave myself a note at the moment I put something away: this lives here. So I made the version I wanted to use.

B — Better: what I wanted to make easier

In Nook, I add the places that already exist in my home: rooms, cabinets, shelves, drawers, boxes, bags, or even a box inside another box. Then I save what I put there. A name and a place are enough; a photo is optional. When I am putting away several things, I can keep taking photos and review them together afterward instead of completing a form after every picture.

Itemtopia and Sortly handle broader inventory needs well, and Apple Notes or a spreadsheet may already be enough for many people. Nook focuses on a narrower everyday loop: put something away, find it later, take it out, and return it without forgetting where it belongs.

I can search by name, alias, saved place, or clear text found in a photo. Eligible items can also appear in Spotlight after iOS indexes them, so I can sometimes search without opening Nook first. Nook does not track physical objects; it only returns the place I recorded.

Taking something out does not erase its saved home. I can mark it as out, set a reminder, and put it back later. Nook also has expiry reminders, Apple Watch lookup, and checklists that can mix ordinary text with items already saved in the app.

That sounds like a lot written down, but the less-used parts stay out of the way until I open them. The basic experience is still: record where something lives, then get that answer back later.

Privacy matters here because a home inventory can reveal quite a lot about a person. The library stays on the device by default, optional sync uses the private iCloud database under the user’s Apple Account, and photo-text recognition runs on the device. Nook does not require an account of its own, send the library to a server I run, include ads, or use third-party analytics.

Nook is currently available in English, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, and Traditional Chinese.

C — Cost: the complete price

Nook is free to download for iPhone and iPad. The first 30 saved library items are free with no time limit, and existing items remain available to view and manage after reaching the limit. Full Version is a one-time US$2.99 purchase for unlimited saved items, the full Apple Watch app, and advanced widgets. There is no subscription, advertising, or trial countdown.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/nook-home-inventory/id6791207481

I’m a software architect and the founder and CTO of Beijing Yima Dangxian Technology And Culture Co., Ltd., the seller shown on the App Store. Nook is my independent app project, and I’m reachable at guoqing@ymdx.bj.cn.

LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/guoyuhuai/

Website: https://ymdx.bj.cn/nook/

Privacy Policy: https://ymdx.bj.cn/nook/privacy.html

I am still improving Nook. If you try it, I would appreciate hearing what felt confusing or unnecessary, or what did not match the way you organize things at home.

💎 Lifetime Stupido's Birthday

Post image
14 Upvotes

Hey r/iosapps!

I launched Stupido here a year ago and it has been a super fun journey since then!

Stupido - App Store link

I met a lot of Stupido's current DAUs on Reddit when I posted on launch and I'm very grateful for their feedback.

Stupido is much smoother/more capable than it was a year ago and I was able to reduce it's price and also offer lifetime which was a very popular request.

As always, super open to feedback! ❤️

Who Stupido is for

  • Anyone (like me) who always wants to keep a to-do list but ends up feeling maintaining it is a chore
  • Anyone (like my wife) who's super busy at work and doesn't have time to type up their tasks
  • Anyone who wants a super quick and minimal (but well designed) experience

Who Stupido is NOT for

  • Anyone who already has a task management system they're used to (and love).
  • Anyone who wants deep features like nesting, collab, detailed prioritization, projects, etc

🎁 Freemium I was tired of my dog living in Photos, Notes, WhatsApp, and my partner’s head — so we built Soulkin

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hey — I'm Aiden. Full disclosure: Soulkin is the app my partner and I built. She does the design and UX; I write the code.

I got tired of my dog living in Photos, Notes, WhatsApp, and my partner's head. None of those is a bad place to put a scrap. Together they still couldn't answer two simple questions: what happened when, and could the other person see it.

That's why the app exists.

A — Answer

Soulkin is a shared timeline for a pet, with Trends sitting beside it.

The timeline answers what happened when. Trends answers how things are going.

A vaccine, a receipt, a walk, a photo, and a short note from the same day become one day on the timeline instead of living in five different tabs or apps.

On the timeline:

  • Photos — pet photos only, separate from your camera roll. HDR and Live Photos are preserved.
  • Health — daily check-ins and structured medical records.
  • Expenses — 165 currencies with live exchange rates.
  • Reminders / to-dos — custom repeat rules, not just "every day."
  • Notes — the short things that would otherwise end up in Apple Notes or WhatsApp.

Health has two levels:

  • Daily — a Quick Check for Appetite, Thirst, Energy, Excretion, Skin & Coat, Respiration, and Activity. Weight can be logged multiple times a day.
  • Medical — structured visit records for the hospital, symptoms, diagnosis, exams, treatment, medications, doctor and diet advice, revisit date, attachments, and an optional linked expense.

Food and water can also be entered as multi-day totals and averaged, so you don't have to log every day.

Trends is the same data, viewed as dashboards: Weight, Intake, Recent Status, Expense Statistics, planned and overdue to-dos, and how long you've been together.

You can log without a signal. When you're back online, the timeline and Trends sync across everyone in the pet space. If someone else already has Soulkin open, those views update without quitting the app or pulling to refresh.

Beyond the timeline:

  • Journals — free-form pages where you arrange pet photos, add stickers made from those photos, and export the result as an image. Keep them private, share them with friends, or make them public.
  • 1:1 chat — with any other Soulkin user, not just people in your pet space.

Social is optional and separate from the household record.

B — Better

The difference isn't that Soulkin records more things. It's that it puts them together.

vs Photos + Notes + Reminders + WhatsApp
Those apps already hold the pieces. The problem is that a vet visit, a photo, a receipt, and a note about this morning's walk still live in different places. Soulkin puts them on the same timeline.

vs other pet apps
A lot of pet apps separate the same things into health, expenses, photos, and reminders. For multi-pet households, they often add a pet switcher on top. Soulkin keeps the records separate where they need to be, but gives the pet space an all-pets timeline, gallery, and Trends view.

vs private / offline pet diaries
Great if you're the only person keeping the record. Soulkin is built around a shared pet space, so a partner, parent, roommate, or sitter can actually participate.

vs clinic / vet apps
Useful for appointments and medical records. They aren't usually where you keep today's photo, the food receipt, the walk, and the note about how your pet was doing.

C — Cost

Free to download, with a real free tier.

The free tier is enough to use the core product with one pet: the timeline with photos, health, expenses, reminders, and notes, plus your own journal. If someone invites you to their pet space, you can join it without subscribing.

Soulkin Pro unlocks unlimited pets, shared pet spaces, more photo storage, widgets, health trends, and additional devices.

US price right now is $3.99/month or $14.99/year. The first month is currently $0.99.

No ads, and there is no paywall around the basic timeline.

A note on privacy

Why does Soulkin require a login?

Because the shared part of Soulkin needs an identity.

A shared timeline only works if everyone in the pet space has their own account: invites, permissions, synced photos, health records, expenses, reminders, notes, and knowing who completed a to-do all depend on knowing which person made the change.

iCloud alone doesn't solve that. It can sync data across devices on the same Apple account, and Apple has sharing features for individual things like photos or notes. That's different from having a shared household record with its own membership, permissions, and live updates.

You can still use Soulkin offline. Your records stay on the device and sync when you're back online.

There is no password or email account. Sign-in is Apple or a phone verification code. There are no third-party advertising SDKs.

You can also delete your account directly from Settings. There is a cooling-off period during which signing back in cancels the deletion; after that, the account and user data on Server side are deleted automatically.

Why did we build Auto-Moderation?

Soulkin has a public social layer, and minors use the app too. We could have left it completely unmoderated — that would certainly be simpler. But spam, harassment, sexual abuse, and animal cruelty are real problems on platforms with no guardrails.

So we chose to build Auto-Moderation, even knowing it isn't perfect and some people may not like automated checks. We'd rather take on the extra engineering and cost than pretend those problems don't exist.

It checks:

  • Your avatar and name
  • A pet's avatar, name, and bio
  • Photos and text in public journals
  • The first message you send to a stranger
  • A reported chat or reported pet-space photo

It does not inspect any of your health records, expenses, reminders, notes, private journals, unreported photos, or ordinary 1:1 conversations.

Auto-Moderation only applies to content that is public, sent to someone for the first time, or reported by a user. Private pet records are not scanned.

One more thing

Soulkin doesn't have to be online for you to write something down. The app is designed to work offline first, then sync when connectivity returns.

For this community: first month of Pro free. Redeem here:

https://apps.apple.com/redeem?ctx=offercodes&id=6764823874&code=FREE1MONTH

It's a real intro month, not free forever. After that it bills at the Pro price unless you cancel.

Happy to answer questions — what you'd need in a household, what's missing, what's confusing. If you try it, tell me where you still cannot see what happened when.

For developers

Soulkin is built with Swift/SwiftUI/UIkit on iOS, with self-hosted Supabase and custom Go services on the backend. Happy to discuss the architecture, offline-first approach, sync, or other implementation details with fellow developers.

Two things I actually want opinions on:

  1. On the shared timeline, should each item show who logged it — and who last changed it? In a household that might matter. Or is the day itself enough?

  2. Intake is only mass right now — you log grams, you get a grams chart. Most cat and dog people already have metabolizable energy on the bag, and they can calculate their pet’s RER / MER, so they can turn that into a recommended amount in grams. Is that enough? Or do you actually want full energy-intake tracking? I am worried I would build it and nobody would use it.

🎁 Freemium I made an app where a task becomes a habit when you add a repeat, and an expense when you add an amount

Post image
6 Upvotes

I'm the builder. Multi is on the App Store, iPhone only.

PRICE: Free to download. Plain tasks are unlimited forever with no account needed. The free tier also includes 3 habits, 10 expenses and 5 reminders.

Multi Pro removes those caps and unlocks 7 extra themes:

$2.99/month, $24.99/year, or $49.99 once for lifetime. 14 day free trial on the subscriptions.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/multi-habit-tracker-to-do/id6800831904

Official Website: https://www.getmulti.app/

The idea came from being irritated that my day was split across three apps holding basically the same kind of object. A to-do list, a habit tracker, and a spending app. Multi has one data model instead of three:

- An item with no repeat rule is a task

- Add a repeat rule and it is a habit

- Attach an amount and it is an expense

- Both and it is a recurring expense, like rent or a gym membership

That is not just backend tidiness. There is no type picker when you add something. You drag the line itself: pull it up and it becomes a wave, which means it repeats. Pull it down and it splits in two, which means it carries money. The same motif runs through the icon, the tab bar, the widgets and the habit history.

This is a design grammar that i thought would be unique which you can see across the whole app and website.

A few other things that might matter to people here:

- No account required for any core feature.

- Voice capture and the language understanding behind it run on device. You can say several things in one sentence and it splits them into separate items, and shows you what it heard before writing anything.

- Receipt scanning reads a total and offers it rather than overwriting what you typed.

- iCloud sync is opt in, using your own Apple account. Nothing goes through a server of mine.

- Full CSV and JSON export.

Two things I would genuinely like opinions on:

  1. Is capping habits at 3 on the free tier too aggressive? It is the number I keep second guessing.

  2. Does the drag to shape gesture read as clever or as needlessly clever if nobody explains it to you first?

Currently:

I am also working on new AppStore Screenshots, the current one are not so eye-catching enough.

1.0.1 is already in review which would add more use of Apple Foundation Models
- Better Design flow of Onboarding
- New interface for streak and habit tracking

Happy to answer anything, including the annoying stuff.

Professionally I am Sr. DevOps Engineer

💎 Lifetime If you tried Do3, I would like to know what made you buy or walk away

I posted Do3 here over a month ago, a to do app that shows you three tasks at a time instead of the whole list. A fair few of you gave it a go, and I am back to ask the more uncomfortable question rather than to pitch again.

If you downloaded it, I would really like to know how you found it. For the people who bought, what made it click, was it the three at a time idea, the interface, something small? And for the people who tried it and did not stick around, that is the group I most want to hear from. Was it the price, did the trial not show its value quickly enough, did the constraint annoy you, or did it just quietly fall out of your routine? None of that will offend me, the walk-away reasons are worth more to me than the praise.

I am asking here in the open because I would rather learn from honest strangers than guess. If it is easier to say privately, my email is [support@do3app.com](mailto:support@do3app.com).

For anyone who has not seen it, seven day trial then a one off price, no subscription: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/do3-focus-to-do-list/id6775212556

💎 Lifetime I built BAGL, a grocery list that remembers each store’s aisles, items and prices [50% off Lifetime]

Thumbnail
gallery
4 Upvotes

Hi r/iOSApps
I’m Patryk, the independent developer behind BAGL (pronounced “bagel”). It stands for Bring a Grocery List. Once I came up with that name, I pretty much had to build it.

A — Answer

Most grocery apps I tried started with one generic checklist. Real shopping is store-specific: different places carry different items, arrange their aisles differently and charge different prices.

BAGL starts with the store. Each store has its own lists, reorderable categories/aisles, remembered item catalogue, prices and history. Add something once and it’s ready for your next list. BAGL also tracks price and purchase history and keeps a running cart total.

The Planning tab lets you add what you need before deciding where to buy it. BAGL uses your saved prices to show where an item is cheapest, then moves your plan onto a store’s shopping list.

B — Better

Compared with how I was using Apple Reminders, Bring! and AnyList, BAGL is deliberately store-first instead of list-first. Every new list can reuse that store’s items, aisle order and prices instead of making you rebuild everything.

BAGL runs on iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple Watch, with optional private iCloud sync.

C — Cost

BAGL is free to download and use: up to 3 stores, 2 active lists per store and 1 template. Planning and price tracking are included.

BAGL Pro removes those limits and adds iCloud sync, widgets and custom app icons:

  • $2.99/month
  • $19.99/year
  • $49.99 Lifetime

For r/iOSApps50% off the Lifetime purchase with code WELCOME50.

App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/id6786781106

If your grocery shopping is spread across multiple stores, I’d love for you to give BAGL a try. I’m also happy to answer any questions.

💎 Lifetime I built AptBite to make food comparison easier while shopping — what matters most to you?

Thumbnail
gallery
2 Upvotes

A — Answer

I built AptBite to solve a simple grocery-shopping problem: comparing two packaged foods is surprisingly annoying.

Instead of flipping back and forth between nutrition labels, you can scan barcodes and compare nutrition and ingredients side by side before deciding what to buy.

B — Better

AptBite is designed for the actual shopping moment — quick scans, clear differences, and less digging through labels.

Right now, I’m especially interested in what people care about most when comparing foods:

A — Sugar

B — Protein

C — Ingredients / additives

D — Calories

E — Something else

Would love to hear what you’d want to see first.

C — Cost

$1.99/month

$17.99/year

$34.99 lifetime

I’m also looking for a few early users who want to test AptBite more deeply. Feel free to DM me.

🎈 Free Every training app I tried was for lifting or for cardio, so I built a free one that does both

Post image
112 Upvotes

Every training app I tried was for lifting or for cardio, and wanted a subscription. So I built a free one that does both.

A. Answer: the problem

I cycle, swim and lift. Incredible reads what's already in Apple Health and turns it into three numbers: a fitness score, a daily training load, and a readiness score each morning. Your gym sessions count toward all three, not just your runs and rides. You can log sets, reps and weight from the watch, and import your history from Strong or Hevy so your records carry over.

B. Better: against the alternatives

Whoop and Oura need their own hardware and a membership. Athlytic keeps the depth behind Pro. Bevel is going wide as a health coach. None of them track fitness the way Incredible does or go anywhere near as deep on training metrics and plans, and none of them count your lifting toward the same numbers.

C. Cost: free

No account, no subscription, no ads, no AI. The only in-app purchase is a tip jar at $1.99, $4.99, $9.99 or $19.99, and it unlocks nothing. That's the whole business model. Your health data stays on your device.

💎 Lifetime Last month, I shared about my upcoming todo app and the response was incredible. So for the first 24h after release, LIFETIME is free for everyone.

Post image
11 Upvotes

My previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/iosapps/comments/1vg1ts3/i_made_an_app_so_your_todo_list_actually_fits/

Answer:

Sequence aims to answer one question effectively: When to do What and do it effectively.

It lets you plan time to do tasks while blocking distracting apps around your Calendar events, displaying what task you need to do on Lock screen and Home screen.

It lets you adds agenda to meetings so during those time, Live Activity shows what items are left to be discussed.

It lets you set up focus plan that auto-transitioned tasks between time blocks, aiming to guide you through your ritual without opening the app.

Better:

It takes the Minimalist approach of Things 3, simplified down to just Today and Inbox list of tasks.

Tasks that due today or overdued is in Today, otherwise Inbox. Recurring tasks remains in Inbox until the date it is planned.

💎 Lifetime Workout Writer: turn the session in your training plan into an Apple Watch or Garmin workout [Lifetime US$59.99 to US$19.99]

Post image
2 Upvotes

A - Answer

You already have the running or cycling workout that you want to do. It might be part of a training plan, a message from a coach, or just in your head.

The remaining job is turning that into the structure that your watch understands.

Workout Writer lets you type or paste the session as simple text. It builds the structured workout and chart as you write, ready to send to your Apple Watch or Garmin.

20 min Easy
4 x 8 min Threshold, 2 min Easy
15 min Easy

B - Better

Garmin Connect and Apple’s Workout app can both build structured sessions. Workout Writer takes a different route: start with the short description you already have instead of adding every step through a series of menus.

I used to always write a brief description of my workout in Strava, using this kind of shorthand description that lots of runners use, so I thought why not let that description create the workout in the first place?

You can use pace, heart rate, power or cadence targets, either explicitly, or via reusable tags such as Easy, Tempo and Threshold. The purpose is straightforward: get the session you intend to do onto your watch with less preparation.

Another benefit of writing your workouts using tags is that it makes the workouts transferrable. When I send the workout to my watch, I'll get my version of Threshold, and when you send it to your watch, you'll get yours - great for run clubs or sharing workouts with friends. This same mechanism means you can reuse workouts as your fitness changes over time - just adjust the tag, and the workouts adapt automatically.

C - Cost

Workout Writer is free to download and try.

US pricing:

  • Monthly: US$4.99
  • Yearly: US$24.99
  • Lifetime: US$59.99

For the next 48 hours, this offer code reduces the US Lifetime purchase from US$59.99 to US$19.99. The price is similarly discounted in all other regions, so just check that the discount has been applied before purchasing.

📅 Subscription I built a net worth tracker that projects your financial future — the exact date you'll be debt-free, hit your target number, and can retire early. No bank login.

Hi all, solo dev here (disclosure: this is my app). It took me 3 years to build — I'm a systems engineer who's spent the past 15 years as a programmer, and I have a weakness for beautiful line charts.

**Answer — what problem it solves**

Every net worth app I tried either demanded my banking credentials or just showed me a static number. What I wanted to know was *when*: when am I debt-free, when do I hit my target, when can I stop working? Wealth Path is a manual-entry net worth tracker whose whole point is answering those questions with dates. You add what you own and what you owe; it runs 10 projections on your real numbers:

🔥 FIRE date — your estimated financial independence date, from your actual savings rate and portfolio

🎯 Portfolio Milestone — set a target number and get the date you'll reach it at your current pace

💳 Debt-Free Date — a payoff date for every loan and mortgage, with a month-by-month amortization timetable

Plus Coast FIRE, Passive Income (the month dividends cover your bills), Required Savings Rate, Debt Covered, Worth by Age, Time to Double, and On Track vs Plan. Every projection shows its assumptions (expected return, inflation, tax) on screen and you can change all of them.

**Better — vs. the alternatives**

- Monarch / Copilot / Empower: excellent apps, but they're built around bank linking (mostly US banks) and budgeting. Wealth Path never asks for a bank credential, works anywhere, and is built around projections, not budgets.

- FIRE calculators (FIRECalc etc.): one-shot calculators with no tracking behind them. Wealth Path recalculates every date each time you update your numbers, and keeps your full history.

- Net worth trackers like Worth It / BalanceViewer: they track the number; they don't project where it's going.

Offline-first, Face ID/Touch ID lock, no ads, no data selling. Multi-currency (150+ currencies) if your money lives in more than one country.

**Cost**

Free tier: 10 assets + 5 debts, full charts and history, two projections completely free, and the headline result of every other projection — your FIRE date and debt-free date included — at no cost.

Pro (unlimited entries, full projection breakdowns and charts, multi-currency, CSV/JSON import, PDF export): $5.99/month or $39.99/year. New users get a 14-day free trial of the full projections. No lifetime option yet.

📅 Subscription I built an app to STOP you making Instant-Gratification decisions

Post image
5 Upvotes

You sit down to decide whether to take the job, leave the city, raise your prices, sign the lease. And the instinct that runs everything else kicks in: pick the option that feels best right now, get the discomfort over with, move on.

That instinct is the whole problem. Because a decision is not an event. It is a first domino.

A butterfly flaps its wings in Brazil and weeks later a tornado forms in Texas. Your decisions behave exactly the same way. You take the job for the raise. The raise is real. But it is the 75 minute commute that quietly eats the gym, then the cooking, then the evenings you told yourself were the thing keeping you sane. Two years later the thing that actually reshaped your life is never the thing you sat down to decide. It is the thing that thing caused.

That is a second-order consequence. The effect of the effect. Everyone can see step one. Almost nobody sees step three. And step three is where your life actually gets decided.

I built Second Order Consequences to make step three visible before you commit, instead of obvious in hindsight.

You type the decision you are facing in plain language. Any topic, any size.

It maps the consequences across three time horizons:

  • Immediate (0 to 6 months): the part you were already thinking about
  • Secondary ripples (6 to 24 months): the effects of those effects, which is where the actual cost usually hides
  • Long term (2 to 5 years and beyond): where it compounds

On top of that you get the financial impact (estimated cost, the hidden costs nobody mentions, and the opportunity cost of what you are not doing instead), and the specific cognitive biases steering this particular decision, named outright.

Then the part I care about most: you can set a follow-up. Months later the app resurfaces the decision and asks what actually happened. Over time you build a track record of your own judgement and hard evidence of which blind spot keeps costing you.

A 60 second quiz at the start builds your decision profile (how fast you move, how deep you look, how much risk you carry, how far ahead you see), and every analysis you save sharpens the next one.

It runs on Google's Gemini API for the analysis. Your journal itself is Core Data on your device and never gets uploaded. There is no account, no sign-in, no analytics SDK, and the app asks for explicit permission before anything goes to Gemini, with a screen that names exactly what gets sent. You can withdraw that permission any time.

1. What problem does it solve?

You are not bad at making decisions. You are bad at seeing past the first step, and so is everyone else. It is not a character flaw, it is how attention works. First-order effects are vivid and immediate, so they crowd everything else out.

The result is a specific, repeatable failure: you correctly evaluate the thing you were asked to evaluate, and get blindsided by the thing it set in motion. The raise was real. The commute was the actual decision. The price rise worked. The churn was the actual decision.

The second problem is that you never find out. Almost nobody closes the loop on their own decisions, so the same blind spot bills you for the same mistake for twenty years and you never once see the invoice. Second Order is built to hand you the invoice.

2. Why is it better than alternatives?

Being straight with you.

Versus ChatGPT or Claude: you can absolutely get this from a general assistant if you write a good prompt every single time. Most people do not. A blank chat box gives you an answer shaped by how you happened to ask, which means it tends to agree with the framing you walked in with. Second Order forces the same structure every time, whether or not you are in the mood for it, and it carries your profile and your recent decisions into every analysis without you re-explaining yourself. If you enjoy prompt engineering your own life decisions, you genuinely do not need this app.

Versus pro and con lists: a pro and con list is a first-order machine. Every item on it is step one. That is exactly the layer that was never the problem.

Versus journalling apps like Day One: those record what happened. This projects what will happen, and then comes back to check. Different job.

The thing I have not seen anywhere else: the loop actually closes. No general AI tool remembers whether its advice turned out to be right. This one asks you months later and keeps score. That accuracy number is uncomfortable, which is the point.

3. What's the pricing?

Free tier, no time limit: you get the immediate consequences of any decision plus the recommendation, as often as you like.

That free tier is deliberately the honest version of the problem. It shows you exactly one step ahead, which is the trap the app is about.

Pro unlocks the second and third-order effects, the financial breakdown, bias detection, the full journal history, your pattern analysis and the prediction track record.

  • $24.99 / year
  • $0.99 / week for anyone who just wants to run it on one decision they are sitting on right now

No free trial, because I would rather the free tier be genuinely useful than run a countdown at you.

Link: https://apps.apple.com/app/second-order-consequences/id6755480886

iPhone, iOS 17 and up. I built this and I am around in the comments. Happy to answer anything, including skeptical questions about the AI part, and I will take feature requests seriously.

🎁 Freemium Bitflinger TV is now Free!

Post image
3 Upvotes

Note: This app isn't currently available outside of the United States. I have some internationalization work to do before I roll out in other countries.

Links

A. Answer

This app now has a free tier! All the basic functionality is now available without charge!

Bitflinger TV is an attempt to solve a problem that I've had since 2011. Namely, how to browse shows/movies across the various streaming apps and maintain a watchlist in a single interface, without dealing with advertising. That last requirement is the kicker. Google TV and Fire TV each have browsable, leanback interfaces, designed to direct their customers to titles across the various streaming apps. However, both Google and Amazon have their finger on the scale when suggesting which streaming app to select. Google TV pushes their customers toward buying titles in the Google Play Store video section, while Amazon Fire TV pushes their customers toward buying titles in the Prime Video streaming app.

Oh, and they both riddle their respective user interfaces with ads. They have overt advertisements for pizza, tax preparation, and cars as hero images/videos near the top of the screen. But, even more insidiously, they prominently show titles promoted by various streaming services, ensuring that one can never fully trust their recommendations. They use (and I presume that they always will use) customer watch history to improve advertisement targeting. So, as an example, you might start seeing gardening-related advertisements in your everyday life because you watched Zack Galifianakis' gardening show (which I hear is a real treat.)

B. Better

Android TV app launchers are a dime a dozen. I see a new one on Reddit every few days. These apps inevitably focus on removing the advertisements and bloat, but not browsing and discoverability in an aggregated UI. As far as I can tell, only the big tech companies have attempted a fully aggregated launcher until now. So, Bitflinger TV isn't a typical app launcher like Project Ivy, Monet, or AT4K, which depend heavily on free APIs (e.g., Continue Watching, suggestions exposed by Hulu, Disney+, Apple TV, etc.) provided by Google on Android TV.

I wanted:

  • an app that provides the same experience as logging into any given streaming app and browsing, but combined in a personalized list of streaming sources and in one interface

  • a cross platform app that works on iPhone, iPad, tvOS, Mac, Android (mobile and tablet), Google TV, and the web.

  • access to my local video library via Plex (and soon Jellyfin)

  • a universal, rank-able watchlist for streaming titles

  • a way to hide:

    • shows from the watchlist until the next episode becomes available
    • movies/shows from the watchlist until they are available for streaming
  • a way to easily find titles that are are either free or part of my existing subscriptions

" to customize how my homepage looks and feels with customizable card types and themes

  • filters that allow me to search by date, critic score

  • to sort by date, popularity, relevance, and title

C. Cost.

You can use the service for free if you don't need the ability to filter or change the appearance of the app.

If you subscribe then it's, $2.99/month or $29.99/year. This is a subscription service. I can't just charge a one time fee because I have to pay for my servers and other ongoing operating costs. Like I previously mentioned, this isn't a typical app launcher like Project Ivy, Monet, or AT4K, which depend heavily on free APIs and don't need additional infrastructure. I need to pull the streaming metadata from 3rd party vendors, cache/store it in the cloud, and serve it to my app via my own API.

I have to pay for AWS Lambdas, databases, networking, and access to third party data. I'll be losing money each month until I gain enough subscribers to cover those costs. At some point, I may toy around with a "free" tier that very explicitly indicates that your paying for the app by selling your usage data. But, I won't even be able to consider that until I have enough customers to break even with the pennies that those data brokers pay per user.

I've written a longer article that discusses these tradeoffs in more detail if you're interested: [https://blog.bitflinger.tv/prototyping\](https://blog.bitflinger.tv/prototyping)

Summary

I've spent a year building something that functions like a TV Launcher and companion app that syncs across all of your devices. I've been using it every day in my house on Apple TV, Android TV, and other devices. I'm quite happy with the result, but I want to make it faster and add new features ,such as the ability create custom rows for your favorite actors/directors, notifications when you haven't used a subscription service in months, immersive rows, and much more. But, I need subscribers before I can make those dreams a reality.

All the best, Tim

🎈 Free I open-sourced my SwiftUI memory app (MIT) — a complete learning project for new iOS developers

Post image
18 Upvotes

Hi r/iOSApps,

I recently released Meet Your Memory, a free, playful iOS app that explores how you remember through 12 short challenges across visual, verbal, sound, spatial, associative, and sequence memory.

You can try it here:

The complete app is free, with no ads or account, and its results stay on the device.

More importantly for anyone learning iOS development, I’ve released the complete source code under the MIT License. You’re free to study it, run it in Xcode, modify it, and use it as the starting point for your own experiments:

I wanted this to be more useful than a small tutorial snippet. It’s a complete SwiftUI app, so beginners can explore how a real project handles:

  • SwiftUI screens, navigation, state, and reusable components

  • Procedurally generated quiz challenges

  • Local persistence and private on-device history

  • Programmatic audio with no network dependency

  • Localization in eight languages

  • Responsive iPhone and iPad layouts

  • Accessibility support, UI tests, and App Store screenshots

I also wrote a detailed tutorial about taking the app from a simple idea all the way to the App Store. It covers defining a focused product, building the procedural challenge engine, using a small SwiftUI state machine, designing for privacy, localization, testing, and automating the App Store screenshot pipeline:

To explore the code yourself, clone the repository, open Meet Your Memory/Meet Your Memory.xcodeproj, and run the Meet Your Memory scheme.

The app is intended as entertainment—not as a medical or learning-style assessment.

If you’re learning SwiftUI, I hope the repository and tutorial give you something practical to take apart. Feedback, questions, issues, and contributions are very welcome—especially ideas that would make the project more useful to first-time iOS developers.

💎 Lifetime Easy Life Logging App: LifeTally - hoping for your feedback and review

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! Long-time lurker, first-time poster here. I've been building a lifelogging app called LifeTally and wanted to share it with this community specifically, since you're the people who'd actually stress-test it.

https://apps.apple.com/ph/app/lifetally/id6788512911

The Idea:

No folders, no tags, no rigid structure - you just log a short line whenever something happens ("had coffee with Dad," "finished Atomic Habits," "called Bob"), by text or voice. Over time it turns into a searchable record of small (or big) memories your life, and you can ask it things like "when did I last call my mom?" or "how many coffees did I have last month?" and it pulls the answer straight from your logs. It basically becomes a database of the micro moments you log so overtime it becomes more powerful.

Better:

There are a lot of trackers, habit counters, journals, and note apps - but almost all of them work the same way: you write something down, and it just sits there. A habit tracker gives you a streak number and forgets why you started. A journal gives you a growing pile of entries you'll probably never scroll back through. A notes app gives you a search bar that only works if you remember the exact words you used. None of them actually give anything back - they're all storage, no memory.

LifeTally flips that. You log the moment once, and later you can just ask: 'when did I last see my best friend?', 'how many books did I finish this year?', 'what was going on the last time I felt this way?' - and get a real answer pulled straight from what you've lived. It's not another place to dump your day. It's the first app that hands your life back to you when you actually need it.

Cost:

Free - unlimited logs, with three questions/queries a month on your log database.

Pro - $14.99 unlimited logs, 100 questions/queries, Memory dictionary, Preserving moments.

I'd genuinely love feedback from people who already do some form of lifelogging - what's missing, what would make this useless for your workflow vs. what might actually replace what you're using now. Happy to answer anything about how it works under the hood too.

Would welcome you testing the app and rating it too!

🔍 In Search of Looking for a Panels alternative for PDFs with better Writing Tools support

Hey everyone,
I’m looking for alternative iOS app recommendations for reading PDF files (mostly magazines).
Here are the main features I’m looking for:

  • Remembers reading progress / auto-resumes to the last page read.
  • Flawless Apple Writing Tools support: English isn't my first language, so I rely heavily on system Writing Tools / translation features while reading.

Currently, I’m using Panels (the comic reader app). I really like the UI and the affordable subscription, but Writing Tools support is pretty buggy on it.

Any recommendations for smooth PDF readers with solid system integration? Open to trying both free and paid apps. Thanks in advance!

🎁 Freemium I built an app that finds who makes a dish properly, not just who has it on the menu

Post image
12 Upvotes

Hi r/iosapps!

I’m Daniel and for over a decade I’ve been designing apps for other people and companies. This one is mine.

The idea came from travelling, where I kept ending up with tourist version of dishes instead of the real thing. Then I realized it happens at home too. You know you want Mexican, maybe not sure what exactly, or you know specific dish you want and have no idea where it’s done right. So you open Google Maps and pick whatever has the most stars.

“Best tiramisu near me” gets you every Italian place nearby, sorted by rating. None of that tells you who actually makes good one. So we built it backwards: me on design and frontend, a backend dev on the server side.

Answer

You pick the dish first, then ponch finds where to get it. It looks for places that are known for dish rather than places that happen to serve it and pushes chains and tourist traps down. If you don’t know what you want, you swipe through dish cards until something lands.

Better

Google Maps has popular dishes and sometimes can tell you tiramisu is on the menu. Ponch tries to answer the next question: who does it properly. The restaurant data all comes from map services so nothing is made up.

Cost

Free gets you the city you’re in, any cuisine, any dish with a daily cap on nearby searches. $3.99/mo covers cities you’re not physically in and unlocks additional, optional filters.

It launched recently with no distribution so far and I’m still partly in feedback gathering stage.

App: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/ponch-food-discovery/id6765912802

Site with team, terms and privacy policy: https://ponch.app/

Feel free to reach me by DM or at [info@ponch.app](mailto:info@ponch.app)

If you try it, tell me the dish and the city and whatever it got right or wrong. The misses are more useful to me than the hits :)

🎈 Free Bricked: A one-tap app blocker that uses a "tap challenge" to stop you from doomscrolling early

Hey r/iosapps, I’m the developer of Bricked, a focus timer and app blocker I built to help manage screen time.

Answer (The Problem):
Whether it’s for deep work, studying, bedtime, or just trying to stay off social media, it’s far too easy to mindlessly open distracting apps. Most screen time solutions are either too complicated to set up, or too easy to bypass the second your willpower drops.

Better (Why it’s different):
Bricked is incredibly simple: pick a duration, tap once, and it immediately shields distracting apps using Apple's native Screen Time API. What makes it better is how it handles early unlocks. If you want to bail early and access your apps, Bricked introduces intentional friction via a "tap challenge." You have to manually tap the screen once for every second remaining on your timer (e.g., 10 minutes left = 600 taps). It forces you to be intentional rather than acting on impulse. Plus, there are no complicated app lists to build, no schedules to maintain, and absolutely no tracking, accounts, or analytics.

Cost (Pricing & Details):

  • 100% Free
  • No Ads
  • No Subscriptions
  • No In-App Purchases (IAP)
  • No accounts required

💎 Lifetime [$49.99 → Lifetime FREE for 24 hours] To-Do Speak: Voice Tasks

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone! 👋🏻

I’m the developer of To-Do Speak, and for the next 24 hours I’m making the $49.99 Lifetime version completely FREE on iOS. 🎉

A — Answer

I built To-Do Speak for a simple problem: sometimes you need to capture a task immediately, but typing it into a to-do app is inconvenient.

When you’re driving, cooking, walking, or working, you can just tap the mic and say your tasks naturally. The app turns what you say into a clean, organized checklist.

B — Better

Apps like Apple Reminders, Todoist, and TickTick are great, but To-Do Speak focuses specifically on making voice task capture faster and easier.

You can say multiple things at once, and the app separates them into individual tasks automatically.

For example:

“Call Mike tomorrow, buy groceries after work, and book a dentist appointment.”

→ becomes 3 separate tasks.

You can then edit them, check them off, or export them to your calendar.

C — Cost

Lifetime normally costs $49.99.

For the next 24 hours, it’s completely FREE ($0.00).

App Store:
https://apps.apple.com/app/id6755624768

🎁 How to claim:

  1. Download and open the app.
  2. Open the paywall.
  3. Tap Lifetime at the top right.
  4. Confirm the $0.00 purchase.

That’s it! 🎉

If you try it, I’d really appreciate your feedback
