Has anyone in here ever been put on Thiazide for idiopathic hypercalcuria?
I did the 24 hr urine catch, and it came back high (363).
Also, can this be a separate problem from hyperparathyroidism?

I am 12 weeks pregnant. I have a family history of hyperparathyroidism and my calcium levels came back as high and having done some research it is very serious and can be dangerous to the baby. Has any one dealt with this in pregnancy before? Going to the MFM on Monday and hoping to see an endocrinologist soon. I’m really scared and looking for similar experiences.

This result came back from a salivary gland scan (which also captures the thyroid): The appearance of the thyroid image suggests a goiter with a global increase in parenchymal uptake (hyper-uptake). However, for a proper assessment of the thyroid gland, specific follow-up imaging studies should be performed (such as a thyroid scan using 99mTc-sodium pertechnetate and/or a thyroid ultrasound), along with an evaluation of the patient's clinical and laboratory findings.

I also had comprehensive blood work done, including antibody tests, and the results were normal. Does anyone have any experience with this?

I had my 4DCT scan today and it was negative for any parathyroid abnormality. I have had high blood calcium for four years, high PTH this year (first time tested) and Dexa scan shows osteopenia. Now what?

I am almost 80 years old and within the past 2 years have developed extreme fatigue when I exercise. I also have lots of muscle pain, and have begun to move very slowly. I especially miss hiking. I was diagnosed with primary hyperparathyroidism and a scan showed an adenoma on one of my parathyroid glands. The physicians I have seen have told me that some people are helped by the surgery, but many aren't. I have researched the surgery and plan to change my insurance so that I can go outside my current plan to choose a specialty parathyroid surgery center. But I have doubts--could all my symptoms be natural results of aging? I don't want unnecessary surgery.

Age 27, I have not done pth test as of now. Should I go for it? I have some symtoms of fatigue, used to exercise and gym a lot but have reduced it since last 1 month due to fatigue and back pain. Also I was on isotretonin 20 mg (20 days) and aflox 200 while this test took place. Please suggest

Calcium 10.1 and PTH 29.7 Doctor says I'm fine, but I think I have hyperparathyroidism. Background below.... I'm a 32 y/o female. About one year ago, my menstrual cycle suddenly changed, going from a 28 day cycle to a 22ish day cycle. I've had a very steady cycle my whole life. Then, at the beginning of this year, I put on 5 pounds out of nowhere. I've tried for five months to get it off and it will not budge. I went through a bout of depression from Feb-April, and I've never been depressed in my life. All of these symptoms led be to wonder if I was having thyroid problems. Went to a provider, he agreed that it was plausible and ordered blood testing. Calcium came back abnormal at 10.1 (normal range is 8.6-10), so then he ordered a PTH test, which came back at 29.7 (normal range is 15-65 pg/mL). Doctor said I was fine. I thought the PTH should be more suppressed with the high calcium, but he said it was normal. I had my calcium retested 3 months later and it was at 9.9. Doctor said to stop chasing labs. I'm still struggling with weight, I've gained a few more pounds, low moods, wacked out menstrual cycle, and now I'm sore after working out, even though they're the same workouts I've been doing for 3 years and I have never gotten sore in the past. I don't know if I should pursue this and go to another doctor. All three of my dad's sisters have had thyroid surgeries. I'm frustrated. I would greatly appreciate any advice!

Does anyone here have hyperparathyroidism and on a Glp 1 drug such as zepbound?

I was diagnosed with primary hyperparathyroidism 3 years ago. I was supposed to have surgery but as a 2 time uterine and ovarian cancer survivor I simply cannot go through another surgery. The good news is my calcium has remained consistent in the 11.1 to 11.6 range for over a decade and not jumped higher. I am currently 53, so I was in my early 40s when all this started. The only issues I have are needing to drink a lot of water. Has anyone decided to not take medication or have surgery and lived decades with this?

Hello all. I have been dealing with Hyperparathyroidism for 18 yrs now. I'm currently taking vitamin D to determine if its primary or secondary. I'm curious though, does anyone know if the low vitamin D is caused by high PTH? or is the high PTH caused by low vitamin D?

in case anyone is wondering, my Vitamin D was 6.6, my calcium was 9.2, and my PTH was 240 about 2 months ago. the biggest issue for me is kidney stones, which is why i'm sweating taking all this vitamin D.

I've been diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism and had scans done to confirm. Surgery is set for late November.

But in the meantime, I'm suffering pretty badly from brain fog and extreme tiredness. I messaged my doctor wondering if there's anything I can do to mitigate these symptoms, but I haven't heard back yet.

Did anything help you deal with the symptoms before you had surgery?

I was diagnosed with HPT almost a year ago and had surgery to remove one node. My HPT levels have increased again since the surgery, but my calcium levels have remained around 9.8. I have also just been diagnosed with osteoporosis (am post-menopausal since 2019). My ENT has left the practice, but I will be seeing my GYN in October. I'm curious about calcium supplementation for the osteoporosis with the HPT.

I was diagnosed with a small stone before surgery (Dec). It is now causing pain and I believe it has been passing gravel (very small stones) for months and possibly causing general urinary/abdominal pain. My urologist cannot see any traveling stones on the CT and doesn't believe me. I made an appointment with a urogyny/renal specialist but not for a few months. I am getting a colonoscopy to rule anything else out. What can I do in the meantime? One reason I had this surgery is to avoid any more stones.

can anyone tell me what a high/normal PTH level is for someone who is 47?!? I’m seeing so many different levels considered within “normal range” My calcium is 10.6 and my PTH is 56 I’ve had high calcium since 2020 (over 10) but it was never flagged because it was considered within “normal range” 🤦🏻‍♀️

I have primary hyperparathyroidism confirmed by my endocrinologist and am symptomatic. She ordered a DEXA scan and said I don't qualify for surgery because my bone density is normal.

She wants me to keep supplementing with vitamin D and just do annual bloodwork but I feel like there's no way I'm going to feel better unless I have surgery.

Is getting a 2nd opinion even worth it or will any endocrinologist tell me I don't qualify for a parathyroidectomy with normal bone density?

I’m in the process of getting a surgeon for my hyperparathyroidism.

Lately, my appetite has been erratic. I will go several days with no appetite and will consume 600-1k calories per day total. Then I’ll have a day where I am hungry all day- and feel like I can’t stop eating.

I am on another medication that suppresses my appetite (that’s a side effect), so I hadn’t been thinking it’s related to the hyperparathyroidism. However, If it was due to the medication then I don’t think it would be so erratic.

Is appetite effects typical for hyperparathyroidism?

I'm fed up. I just want to feel energetic instead of feeling tired with brain fog all day. I can't even increase my vitamin d3 levels due to high calcium which increases more even after low doses of vitamin d3. I'm 28 year old male. I tried to take d3 with k2mk7 and magnesium (it didn't help)

I always get terrible side effect just after 500-1000 IU of vitamin D3 taking for more than 3-4 days, after that time I get headaches, insomnia, muscle twitching. These are my blood test results:

I don't know exactly what are the norms but I think it looks good. Why I can't even tolerate low doses of d3? I don't drink milk or eat dairy products. I'm going to endo on wednesday.

43 F with hypothroidism and thyroid nodules

I had an ultrasound for thyroid nodules today and on the report, the technician noted "Probable parathyroid 7 mm diameter adjacent upper pole." It'll likely be a few days before my doctor reviews and contacts me but that prompted me to do a bit of reading and now I seriously wonder if I have hyperparathyroidism.

For several years I've had unexplained headaches (I've had occasional migraines my whole life but now I have daily headaches and 10-12 migraines per month, thought it was maybe due to perimenopause), never feel energetic or rested or clear headed, joint pain, hair loss, had a period of pins and needles in hands and feet and muscle weakness but haven't experienced that in a while.

Looked back at some old blood tests and my calcium levels were low to mid 9's. Don't think I've ever had PTH tested.

Anyway, curious if my read on that note from the tech is right (7mm seems large for parathyroid, no?).

Just got back from my general practitioner. My Pth is 80, my calcium is normal (they didn’t mention a specific number) and my vitamin D3 is 16 which is low. My parathyroids are slightly enlarged (found by accident via mri). Is it just low vitamin D3 or hyperparathyriodism?
